Chapter Epilogue
Three years later..
"Do you think he knows?" Fortis as he paced back and forth the room, that feeling of panic rising in his chest again as he looked around the room.
"Stop stressing. I assure you he hasn't the faintest idea." Ares' mother replied as she smiled at him before she retuned to arranging the flowers around the room.
"He seems to quite oblivious to most things these days since he's nearing his birth date." Ares' father added as he tied a knot on one of the gifts sent by the king of the Elves.
Though that didn't seem to ease Fortis' stress as he looked around the room, wandering if Ares would like it, or if he had missed something.
"I think it looks awesome" Eros said as stood next to his father with his hands on his hips, proud of his part he played in decorating the room.
"I do hope so" Fortis replied as he smiled down at his son and ruffled his hair.
Meanwhile, down the corridor, Ares had been walking around looking for his husband and son, who seemed to wander off quite often as of late. He stopped and leaned against the wall, his hand traveling down to touch his huge stomach as he let out a sigh.
"I think you should rest your Majesty." His servant said beside him as he moved to help Ares walk further down the corridor.
"Not until I find out what those two have been up to." He replied as he walked down the corridor, stopping in front of the door he had seen Fortis and Eros go through so many times .
At first he had chalked it all up to father and son bonding, until he caught sight of his mother and father in there as well did his suspicions begin to grow.
He turned the handle about to walk in when the door opened, Eros squeezing his body through the small opening he made, blocking Ares' view of the room.
"Hey Dad. I was just about to look for you. Would you like to go for a walk?" He asked as he smiled widely as his father.
Ares narrowed his eyes at him, knowing the boy was up to something with the mischievous grin planted on his face.
"What are you up to young man?" He asked as squinted at his son who looked at him with an innocent expression.
"Me?" He asked as he pointed to himself and giggled
"Nothing at all. I just want to spend some quality time with you is before she comes and steals you from me" he said and put on his saddest eyes that got him out of everything he did.
"You're always going to be my baby. Even when you're sister's here." Ares replied as he pinched his son's cheek and looked up when the door opened to reveal Fortis standing there in the doorway smiling at him.
He held his hand out towards Ares and winked at a smiling Eros as he led Ares into the room.
Ares looked at Fortis, wondering what all the hype was about when he gasped out loud, widening his eyes at everything he saw.
Beautiful flowers of all colours adorned the walls. Large windows reaching the ceiling, allowing rays of sunlight through it that illuminated the object that had caught his attention.
A crib made of the finest wood in all of the kingdoms. Beautifully decorated with bright green vines and flowers. All making it look as though it had come right out of the forest.
"Is this what you have been doing?" Ares asked as he turned to face Fortis, a smile spreading across his face as he stood on his toes and pressed a kiss against his lips.
"Among other things" Fortis replied as he smiled at Ares, his hand touching the huge bump on his stomach. He nuzzled his nose against his before he led him downstairs to where the bulk of the effort was put in.
"Surprise!"
Ares stood there wide eyed as he looked at everyone gathered in their ballroom. People from all the different kingdoms, gathered to celebrate the birth of his daughter that would be any day now.
"You seem quite surprised. I never thought they could pull it off." Aven said as he walked towards Ares laughing at the shocked expression on his face.
"You should have little more faith!" Eros exclaimed as he pouted then smiled wide eyed when he saw the chocolate treats, dashing off in that direction.
"He's still the same." He said as he shook his head and watched the boy stuff his mouth with chocolate.
"Yours will be here soon." Ares replied as he smiled at Aven who scratched the back of his head.
"Oh no. What did he do now?" He asked as he laughed when he saw Zenair glaring at everything and everyone as he sat down on a chair, his hands settled on his huge stomach.
"He's been moody since the healer says he won't give birth until another month. He just wants the baby to come already." He said as he shrugged and looked at Zenair whose eyes locked with his, immediately softening as he shyly looked away.
"Wow. I don't think I've ever seen him with a look other than a glare." Ares said as he laughed then gasped when he felt arms circle around his waist as Fortis pressed a kiss against his neck.
"Do you like it?" He asked to which Ares giggled and turned around in his grip.
"I love it" he replied as he nuzzled his nose against his.
Aven politely excused himself and walked back to Zenair who had been eyeing the chocolates out since he had gotten there. Aven grabbed a plate and piled on different types of chocolates, sitting down beside Zenair as he fed him, occasionally leaning in to press a kiss against his lips.
The tale of their love was one that had spread far and wide when King Aven had announced his marriage to the ill tempered elf. According to the tail, Aven had been hunting in a nearby forest when he came across the abandoned elf who had been framed and banished, on the verge of death. He had brought him back to his palace and nursed him back to health. Falling hopelessly in love with him in the process.
As for Kronar, he had been freed from imprisonment on the condition that he would leave and never come back and it had been three years since anyone had heard anything from him.
Ares smiled as he looked around the room, creatures of every kind from Orcs to faes, elves to warlocks and healers, wolves to night creatures, all gathered in the same room. Laughing harmoniously with each other. A few even married into the species of the other, something that had never been done before.
He looked around at the tiny little babies that were crawling around and chasing one another. A mixture of two different creations bonded and joined as one. Something that was frowned upon before and gave birth to the title of 'Hybrid', now joyously celebrated on the birth of so many beautiful creatures, just like the one he had fallen in with.
A love that had given birth to the tale of two polar opposites who loved each other fiercely. A tale that had united two powerful nations as one, and a tale that would go on to inspire nations abroad who had lived for centuries with the mindset of their forefathers, unable to break free from the thread of false beliefs. A tale of a
