Beast Of The Moon

Chapter TWENTY ONE

North’s P.O.V

I watched as Nymeria ran my question over in her head, she seemed disturbed by me asking, then she sighed and finally spoke, “She was Connor’s mate”. I felt myself freeze, that’s why the guy is so bitter and unhappy, his mate is gone. I mean not that its a big de-No, I’d die without Constance.

“How’d she die?” I asked in a calm tone, Nymeria then sighed in frustration, “Like I said Stupid, she did not die you idiot” I was taken back by her anger, “She’s just gone, if she died Connor would have died of sadness ages ago, stupid boy”. I then leaned forward, “Hey, I ain’t stupid, just uninformed” I spoke offended.

“Whatever, the point is, that when your mate is gone for more than a day, you become miserable, his mate been gone for a long time”. I suddenly felt bad for yelling at Connor, he was just trying to keep everything together, all he has left is this pack. Then my mind started to flood with questions about mates.

“Does the other side of the mate have separation issue’s too?” she looked at me confused, “Like, say your mate is human, do they have problems when their mate is gone?” she smiled then said, “Yes, your mate is probably panicking right now” then more guilt started to fill my head.

“Word of advice boy, when you are upset like this, go to her, she will calm you” I nodded trying not to feel so bad for leaving her with no question. I looked in the distance and saw the sun begin to come up. “Dawn” Nymeria spoke as she watched the sunrise, “Better get home”. I nodded and stood up.

Nymeria then walked over and pointed to my chest, “Keep that with you” I nodded, “I will, thank you Nymeria” she nodded slowly, “I like you North, you are kind, more than others” I smiled at her, then we started walking back, “By the way, what I did before was no accident” I stopped in my tracks and stared at her in shock.

“You tried to melt my brain!?” I asked with my mouth gaping open, she rolled her eyes, “No, I originally was trying to look into your memories but that is mostly impossible, so I tried to look at other things, strength and health-wise, Connor thinks having your memories will help somehow, but it won’t” she paused then turned to look at me, “The spell I used was to for lack of a better term, pull your brain apart, pick at it” she explained.

I stared at her in horror.

“I wanted to know how your brain worked after looking at your odd blood sample” I started walking by her side calmer now but still afraid. “I didn’t mean any harm, It was my first time using a spell-like that” she explained in a sympathetic tone. I nodded, finally understanding her, why she did all these things.

“Why did you want to see inside my mind, Nymeria?” her normal smile appeared on her face, “When I heard about a child Lycan, I knew I had to help, Werewolves need to win, you’re their ticket”. She then paused again,

“You are fighting this alone, going against the greats, the best of the best. All you can do is stay strong North. In the end, when this is all over. It will be worth it. You have qualities only a few can admire because most don’t have.

You have strength only a few can understand because most have never experienced it. You were born to do this North.

They say that the wolf on the hill is never as hungry as the wolf climbing the hill, be that wolf that climbs the hill, hungry for the next win, waiting for the next battle” I listened to her words very carefully.

What she told me made complete sense and once we walked out of the forest and back to the packhouse. She stopped and grabbed my shoulder, “Remember this North, Your destiny is in your hands, now go out and hunt it” she smiled as the warriors of the pack ran up.

“North! are you ok??” I nodded not looking away from Nymeria. “There’s the damn Witch. Grab her!!” the man demanded, I was too focused on what Nymeria said. She confused me even more now than ever, I don’t think I’ll ever understand her purpose in my life now.

She smiled as the guards dragged her away, I guess something in her purple eyes told me she’d be ok, I mean, if you can escape once, you can do it again. I started slowly walking up to the house, completely captivated by thought.

That I didn’t realize something was running up to me, I felt arms wrap around me, warm ones. I focused on the now and saw that Conny was holding me tightly, she looked tired and sad. I felt horrible. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and mumbled about how sorry I was that I left her.

I heard her giggle, then pull away, “It’s ok, I know you were angry” I nodded then pulled her back into a warm hug. She was my salvation, I know that sounds cheesy but it’s true, I really care about this girl that I held in my arms. If only the world would let us stay like this, forever.

I then pulled away from her to see Miah, she hugged me tightly, quietly scolding me like her child. I think that’s how she saw me, as her kid that she’d die protecting, I don’t think I’ll ever understand it, hell I don’t understand it at all.

Other pack members asked me questions like if she tried anything or if they knew why she escaped or the famous, did I break her out. I answered all with no. I’ll never know why she broke out just to talk to me and share her wisdom and reasons with me.

I stared over at Nymeria who was being chained and yelled at by Connor, but she didn’t give him a reaction. She only smiled at me, I believe by not giving him a reaction, she was teaching me something, not to give a reaction, then no one will know what you’re thinking.

I nodded to her which she returned.

I can’t trust her,

but I can learn from her.
