Chapter FOURTEEN
North’s P.O.V
I ran Connor’s question over in my head for what felt like hours, I never really thought about how I was bitten or who did it, I knew it happened. I shook my head and spoke in a quiet voice, “I don’t know” Connor looked down and sighed in anger, “How can you not know??“.
I could tell he was getting angry, I shook my head and said my anger starting to build up, “I lost most of my memory if not all of it” I tried to stay calm but I was starting to get mad at his lack of understanding. He frowned and said, “Try” his tone was harsh and demanding, “Try what?” I asked, trying to match his tone.
“Try to remember” He stared at me with golden eyes, then he waved his hand and spoke, “Go, I’ll have a witch come later and look over you” I wanted to fight with him on this but the better side of me knew that wouldn’t help. I sighed and stood up and walked out of the room, I don’t understand why Connor is so angry, if I can’t remember something then I can’t, it’s not my fault.
I walked down the hall, trying to think, trying to remember that night. But I couldn’t come up with anything, I could only picture what I was told, nothing more. I needed air, “Let me out” the voice in my head from before demanded, I tilted my head in confusion, “What do you mean?” I asked in my head, yep I’m officially crazy.
“I’m your wolf dumbass, let me out” he demanded once again, I sighed and asked, trying to not show that I was talking to myself. “How do I do that?” after a minute I heard him mumble about me being a dumbass and a bad human, I then shot back, “Look, we have only shifted once and that was in my sleep so just tell me if you want to get out”.
“Ok, calm down Human, just think of what we look like in wolf form, then let me do the rest” I sighed and agreed, I walked outside and over to the trees, ”Little more away from packhouse” he instructed me, I sighed and walked more, “Ok stop, good Human” I glared at myself and said, “I can just go back and not let you out” I suggested in a taunting voice.
“No No No, we’re good, we’re good Human” I smiled and said, “Good wolf” then I stopped and closed my eyes and thought of my wolf, what I saw in the mirror that day in the hospital, soon I felt my bones snapping, but oddly it didn’t hurt.
Then after a minute, opened my eyes and looked down, I saw the familiar furry paws from before. “Nice work” my wolf spoke then I asked, “Do you like take control or something?” I felt him nod, “Yeah, so sit back and relax Human” then I asked before he started running around, “Why didn’t you take control back at the hospital?“.
“It was your first shift, you needed to be used to it before I took control” he explained, I nodded and then he took off.
Constance’s P.O.V
I waited in North’s room for him to come back, I sighed, I had one good moment with him that didn’t even last that long and yet I can’t go more than five minutes without him. I shook my head, Miah told me when North went inside with Connor that the separation anxiety is apart of being mates.
He said he was coming right back, I sighed laying back on the pillows that smelt like him, god I feel like a stalker. I felt so alone here when I first arrived, not that the pack didn’t do what they could to make me feel welcome.
I just didn’t feel like I belonged, until North when I first saw him my first move was to be so rude to him that he would never want to talk to me again, but then I felt an attachment to him, I didn’t understand it of course until I found out he was my mate.
I didn’t really think about ever having a mate, a werewolf mated to a witch is pretty uncommon, but I’m glad I found North, he’s kind. I can’t say that I love him, no it’s way too early in the relationship, but it does feel like a small crush, but I want to be friends first, things will be easier.
I guess I must have fallen asleep because I woke up to someone nudging me, I slowly opened my eyes and looked to my left to see who wanted me awake, I jumped up when I saw a huge wolf, like bigger than a normal werewolf. I screamed and went to the end of the other side of the bed. The wolf wined at my fear and looked down at the ground in shame.
I moved a little closer to the animal. I looked him over and saw bits of clothing all over him, the white fabric around his chest looked just like the one North wore before he left, and when I looked at his back legs I saw torn up tennis shoes that had a striking resemblance to North’s.
The werewolf that stood in front of me was my mate North.
I moved closer knowing he wouldn’t hurt me, he looked sad, I guess it was because I screamed and moved away from him. Once I was less than a few inches from him I asked, “North?“, his head perked up and he nodded, I smiled and reached my hand out and rubbed his head, he purred and leaned into my touch.
I smiled stroking his fur, I laughed then pulled away making him wine again, I smiled and said, “Can I have my Human mate back?” I knew that the wolf part and the human part of a werewolf were two different people, normally the wolf part is very possessive of their mate and more demanding.
The human part tends to be calmer and more like themselves, the wolf shook his head with a growl and frowned, I tilted my head and asked, “Please..” he sighed which sounded adorable and turned and walked into the bathroom, after a few minutes I heard bones cracking which made me cringe.
Then I watched the door opened and normal North walked out, shirtless, great. He smiled warmly at me and said rubbing the back of his neck, “Sorry about that Conny, my wolf demanded to meet you” I laughed and nodded, completely understanding, “it’s ok, I get it” he smiled then sat next to me on the bed.
“Want to do something?” he asked, I shrugged, “Sure”.
We decided to watch a movie, something from the 80s,
in truth, I loved having North as my mate,
it beats having a Vampire as one...
