Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1372

"Alright, don't worry about me. I won't get lost in your territory!"

After taking off her coat, Victoria settled down in a discreet place. She casually threw the notebook onto a single sofa in the corner nearby. That must be where she chatted with Holger. There were two single sofas and a small tea table. It was an individual area separated by an aisle, much to her convenience. Upon seeing the lively and calm Victoria, Trevor was half relieved. He fondled her hair with much love and affection as he spoke to her.

"Well, if you need anything, I'll be at your service!"

After nagging her about some important office areas, Trevor took a glimpse at his watch and finally left. Victoria turned on the computer and gaped at the unfamiliar screen. She had nothing to do. His office was so much different from hers, even his computer lacked the applications and software she required. In the end, Victoria could only log into a chatting application.

A thought suddenly hit her. She picked up her phone and called her mother. They chatted for almost half an hour, "Mom, I'll visit you and Dad after you come back from your vacation-"

Initially, she wanted to invite her parents over to her place for a while, but she eventually decided against the idea. She didn't want to worry or involve them in her problems.

"Do you miss us? Fine, once your father resolves this ball game stuff, we'll go visit you! Of course, we'll be quick. If you bear a child, your father and I must be nearby to take care of you, but right now we've got our hands full! How's life with Trevor? Any signs of life in your belly?"

That was the most troublesome matter that comes with marriage. Last time she had injured herself, so she didn't need to refuse or evade the matter that much since no one was forcing her anyways. Despite that, Victoria doubts that she could dodge it now, even though she felt like Trevor wasn't planning on becoming a father. He even used protection last night!

With the thought in mind, she couldn't stop herself from feeling touched. Trevor showed much more tolerance on this matter compared to most people. Perhaps it was because of her reasonable parents-in- law, or maybe it was for the sake of her mother, he never pressured her into carrying a child for him. Additionally, her sister-in-law, Alicia Blanchard, had spoken to Mrs. Clements on her behalf. Even Grandma didn't urge her into having a baby. She wasn't sure if it was because of the passing of time or due to Clinton Clements, after marrying into this wealthy family, she had been living a considerably easy life! Furthermore, she felt like the elders weren't that obsessive about this matter anymore. In the past, all they could talk about was the continuity of their family's bloodline.

Once again, she became emotional. All of this happiness was extravagant to her. Compared to that, Trevor's minute mistake was suddenly a flaw that could no longer be hidden.

Veronica was reminding her.

"Victoria, when you marry into

another family, it'll never be like your own home. No matter how your in-laws dote on you, you can never be selfish, understand? You must look at things from their

perspectives too. It doesn't matter how close you are with them, some fights will be unavoidable. It's not that easy for two different families to get along well, so sometimes, you've got to take the blame and bear the injustice. Just know that if you are always appreciative of them, you'll find happiness more easily! Feelings don't develop overnight, it takes time and effort to build a strong relationship. Perhaps the both of you will one day become like your father and me, like your left and right hands. You'll be so used to

having him in your life that it seems as if nothing new happens with him anymore, but once you lose him, you realize that you can't be without him! Your father is right, Victoria. At this age, our children are destined to leave us and start their own families with someone else, and eventually, we'll be the only ones left, just the two of us again. We're an old couple, but without the time we spent together in the past few decades, we wouldn't have made it this far. Do you remember our neighbor, Mr. Campbell? In the public's eyes, he did live a 'meaningful' and 'accomplished' life. He even had children of his own, but at what cost? He's already in his nineties, yet he ended up alone in some old folks' home. He brought this all on himself, didn't he?"

"Mr. Campbell? Mr. Campbell, who fought in the war? Mr. Campbell, who had rivets sticking out of his body? In the old folks' home?"

It was said that he was a hero of the country. After retiring, he received a lot of benefits. He never had to pay his medical bills, and the country was in charge of putting food on his table. He even started a business to earn some money. Victoria always saw him striding around the neighbourhood in luxurious fur clothes. He used to tell them stories about his glorious youth and painful past. She thought him an arrogant and wealthy man, yet he ended up in an old folks' home?

"Yes! It's true! He called your father

just a few days ago, asking where he

was, saying that he missed your

father. The old man must be

confused and lonesome. He married several times, yet all of his

marriages never worked out, and he even hit on a young nanny. He wanted to divorce his wife and marry the nanny, and of course, his children were extremely against the idea, but the old man was obstinate. He didn't even stop to think twice about it. Why on Earth would a thirtysomething young girl be interested in a seventy-something codger? In the end, they separated after he stopped giving her money, didn't they? That's what happens when you don't live your life properly! Now he can't move and he wants his children and wives back, but who's willing to care for someone who is on the brink of death? He could fall sick any time, and he can't even speak properly now! Men and women are the same, nobody lasts long without some kind of relationship! Victoria, I know you're still young, and I may be looking a hunk too far into the future, but think about it. You're probably going to spend most of your life with Trevor, right? Manage your relationship well, but if he really isn't the one for you, we won't force you. Your father and I will stand by you, always, so don't treat yourself too poorly over there, alright?"

"Mom, I understand. Don't worry, Trevor has always been kind to me!"

After chatting for a while, she finally hung up the phone. Chattering with her mother helped Victoria relax. She sat back and faced the computer when a wallpaper of an animal came into sight. An idea

struck her as she recalled the emblem on Trevor's body last night. She grabbed a few pieces of paper and a pencil from the desk and started designing a long gown. It was an enchanting design that shows off one's body shape perfectly. She added some fluffy elements to the shoulder and skirt's

design. Coupled with an elegant scarf with a laid-back cat, the

woman on the paper posed like a seductive yet cruel demon cat. Even the mask's design was inspired by a

cat.

Victoria finished the design in one go and was exceptionally pleased with the results, so much so that she

held the paper up high with an idiotic grin on her face.

She was half-kneeling on the tea table with her hair tied into a messy bun. A pencil stuck out of her hair while another pencil was located in between her teeth. She was even holding an eraser in one of her hands. That was exactly what Trevor saw when he returned. The desk was covered in numerous white papers while the notebook sat on the sofa. The office was hectic. Looking at her cute and amusing appearance, a subconscious grin appeared on his face.

He chuckled.

How did she end up like this?
