Be My Wife, Be Rich by Charlotte Aaron Novel

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

In the back of a limo, a screen separated Fiona and Sebastian from the driver. Flona knew someone like Sebastian probably wasn’t into small talk, so she zoned out and kept to herself. The only sound was her phone buzzing. She peeked at the screen but didn’t pick up. It rang again, and she hit the silence.

Sebastian glanced over. “Go ahead, take the call”

Fiona waved her phone away with a simile. “Nah, I’m good. Gotta watch out-people can be so touchy. I’m too young for that kind of drama.”

Sebastian had a hunch it was Macy Blowing up her phone.

Pulling up to a fancy steak restaurant with a killer view, it was the kind of place couples went for a special date. “Why is he into this? Probably pricey as heck, Fiona thought and was silently freaking out about the bill. They walked in, and Sebastian showed some class, pulling out her chair for her. Neat. Then the manager showed up with menus. Sebastian ordered some fancy dishes and asked Fiona if she wanted anything extra.

She shook her head real quick. “Nope, that’s a ton already.” inside, she was stressing over the price tag, practically feeling her wallet getting lighter.

Sebastian jost grinned and said to the manager, “That’ll do. Oh, and toss in a bottle from the boss’s private stash.”

+”Sure thing,” said the manager, and off he went.

Fiona raised her eyebrows. “You drink?”

Sebastian had a little laugh. “I don’t have strict rules, though I do skip meat and booze on certain days.”

Fiona was like, “Oh, cool,” but then her jaw nearly hit the floor when food started rolling out steaks, foie gras, lobster-the works. And the manager’s hauling in a crazy expensive bottle of wine. Fiona wanted to bail out so bad, thinking about the tab.

Sebastian caught her look and teased, “Don’t tell me you’re bailing on the bill?”

Fiona held back a groan. “Nope.” She was all about investing money to make money, and this meal was a drop in the bucket, really.

As Sebastian started eating, all smooth and classy, Fiona couldn’t help but be a little impressed. She wasn’t all that into steak; too fussy for her taste. But she had to admit, the food here was pretty legit. Figuring she might as well get her money’s worth, she dug in and started to enjoy the meal too.

Sebastian couldn’t help but watch Fiona as they ate. She was cutting her steak like a pro-right hand with the knife, left hand with the fork, no mess, no sound. A little while in, she paused and crossed her silverware on her plate.

Then she grabbed her wine glass, gave it a swirl, and took a sniff before taking a sip. She looked pretty pleased with it. Seriously, her manners were on point, like she’d been to charm school or something. Sebastian found himself staring at her wine-stained lips-that was how much she grabbed his attention. She had this vibe that was more captivating than anyone else in town. “Someone teaches you all this fancy dining stuff?”

Fiona nodded, “Yep, had classes on all that good stuff. But I’m trying extra hard today, especially in front of you, Mr. Quinn. Did you bring me here just to watch me eat or what?” Her eyes danced with a playful challenge since he was checking her out so much.

Sebastian didn’t say a word but took his own wine, swirling it the same way Fiona did. Seeing him drink, she had to look away, understanding why some folks were totally hung up on him. There was something about this guy, just one thing that seemed a bit off.

Since Sebastian wasn’t chatty, Fiona didn’t push. She topped off his wine and lifted her glass. “Cheers, for your help today. You’ve been a lifesaver, Mr. Quinn. Think about sticking with me?”

“Sticking with you?” Sebastian raised an eyebrow. “What’s in it for me?”

“Nathan owes me a house and a chunk of cash. We split it, I take the house. If that house was worth 16 million dollars, then I would take another 28

million dollars. The rest is yours. A lair deal?” That was the reason why she asked for,80 million dollars-she planned to split it with Sebastian for his help.

Sebastian tried not to smile too wide. “Using the Quinn family’s money in your little game, huh?”

Fiona was quick. “Tuming their cash into ours. Easy for you, right? Say the word, and almost 40 million dollars is yours.”

Sebastian was straight up. “I’m not into money.”

‘Not into money? Fiona couldn’t believe her ears. Who didn’t want money? She held back the urge to roll her eyes at him. She said, “What if I can…”

Sebastian looked at her with a smile and waited for her to continue.

Fiona’s vivacious eyes twirled around as she stared at him, lips tightly pressed together. She contemplated, “The thing men dread most is others saying they’re incompetent in certain respects, especially if there is an issue in that area. All that rumors that he doesn’t get close to women might well be his way to divert attention. He doesn’t want others to know he has problems. For me to brazenly offer treatment, what if he became enraged with shame and joined Nathan against me? Wouldn’t I be shooting myself in the foot? Thinking of this, Fiona shook her head, finished off the red wine in her glass in one gulp, stood up, and politely said, “It’s nothing, just forget it. This meal’s on me. Thanks for earlier today.” I’ve only gotten 10 million dollars yet he ordered such expensive wine without the intention to help me. I’m very poor, okay? No consideration for people without money at all, how annoying!”
