Chapter The Beginning
They all woke up the next day. They were in a sort of medical wing with goblins in white coats fussing around with white coats. One approached Ben. He looked ancient with wrinkles on his face and large droopy eyes. He adjusted the large round glass on his right eye.
“Ah, you’re awake. Had a bad crack on your shin bone. Attempting to walk after that made it worse but I see you’re healing nicely.” He spoke in a loud voice that made Ben’s head throb.
“Kiki!
Where is she!” Ben suddenly remembered the witch’s and sat up in a panic but immediately held his spinning head.
“You just relax no Mr The rest of the humans you were with are fine and well and waiting earnestly to see you.
I will call them in now.” The doctor barely waved for them to come in when Kiki came bounding in and jumped onto his bed and gave him a huge hug.
Ben didn’t mind the pain. Just her soft hug was enough to breathe life back into him.
They sat around and spoke about what happened after Kaida pulled them out of that wretched hole.
Pyre and Aura both broke the spell that had locked the cage. Ben had collapsed on the journey and Kaida caught him within his claws and he lay unconscious throughout. Kiki could not stop talking about how brave Victoria was which came as a surprise to Ben. Geordie was over the moon when he told Ben that Kiki was, in fact, a dragon whisperer.
The only person Kaida could understand was Kiki and she could hear him. Kiki blushed and pulled out the white dragon scale amulet she was given by Kaida that swirled with pearly colours as she turned it in the light.
Ben was so proud that he just looked at her and gave her a big kiss on her forehead.
“Right! Off you go, leave the patient to rest!”
Shouted a little old goblin nurse, shoving them out.
Friendships that could never be broken were forged between Claire, Ada, Kiki, Geordie and Ethan. Victoria finally won Kiki’s affection by her selfless bravery and everyone seemed to have grown up in the past day.
Yori flew in just as they were leaving. “Five minutes May!” he shouted at the nurse and didn’t even wait for her answer.
“The hooman is up I see! How are you feeling? As ancient as you look?” He said, grabbing some grapes from Ben’s plate and gobbling it down thru his laughter.
“I see you’re back to being you!” For lack of knowing what Yori really was.
“Yes I am, can’t go around as a dragon, pretty hard to hide you knows.”
“Thank you, for saving the kids and me,” Ben said sincerely.
“Well, Kiki’s voice was ringing in my head, had to make it stop somehow with all her yelling.”
Yori said, but he seemed to be hiding his affection as he always did.
“You get better soon, we haven’t even begun our journey. This was just a little diversion off the true path.” He said as he flew off to join the rest in the dining hall that the phoenix prepared.
