Chapter 17 — Peanut Booter
Michael's POV
I was currently in the vast fields leading up to the hills and mountains near the edge of Riota, I had to get to Anna's little cottage entrapped near the mountains.
Death had specifically told me that there was no time, no Time whatsoever to waste anymore.
The guards had completely surrounded Riota at the borders to stop anyone from leaving Riota to get to Daromia or Estebech.
Daromia was the Vampire kingdom, they had two major cities in Daromia, the first was Paria (mother city) also known as the Neut city and Reece.
It had long been established for thousands of years that the Paria did not belong to any race, even though their king lived in the palace. Only because he was the dominant king of the four kingdoms, well technically three. It was a neutral city where every supernatural creature was allowed to live in.
It was also quite advanced in terms of technology, seeing that it was also the home of the only portal to the Neut realm.
However, the portal had been closed off for more than a thousand years.
People did use it but only those allowed by the throne or those that are willing to pay and occasionally those that bribe the gatekeeper.
The gate keeper was a Minotaur which was timeless. Meaning it never grew old or tired.
Though I have never seen it or come near to it, many people have heard that it was there when the gods built the portal to the Neut realm more than eight hundred thousand years ago.
It was specifically created to guard the portal and guarding it where hundreds of Vampire guards.
Estebech was the land of the winged men.
Though most people did not visit Estebech because it was a land built up high.
It was overrun with beautiful rivers and streams; their city was named after their land Estebech.
The city was built right at the edge of a tall waterfall.
So, you see, it was hard for a mere supernatural who could not fly to reach it.
Plus the winged men were very secluded beings.
Legend has it the winged men used to serve the dragons long before anyone could remember. They were a beautiful race just like the lycans and vampires.
On the other side of Daromia was a large river that passes in between a mountain range.
The mountain range was known as the Galatia mountain range and the river was the largest river in our realm called the Kiaz River.
I have never journeyed that far but rumor has it that our mountain range that separated Daromia with Riota was much bigger.
Our mountain range was known as The Skilz mountain range. It was vast and green.
The tallest mountain in the supernatural realm was the Escur Mountain located on the Skilz.
It was so high you could actually see the thunder clouds swarming around it.
We witches nicknamed it the ladder of the gods or rather Azuk.
Witches would often go there to meditate and become one with nature near its bottom.
The Kiaz river was the longest river like I said in the Sup realm (supernatural realm), and the main source of all our streams and lakes.
It started far out in the hills of Nabok in the kingdom of Estebech then flew right through the Ignere forest.
It looped through Daromia and squeezed past Kesh (the kingdom of the Lycans and werewolves before swinging back into Estebech in the wastelands of Wrath. The Waste lands of wrath was a designated place.
Creatures and monsters lived there.
These creatures were neither, Lycan, vampire, witch, demon, or winged men but rather other mythological creatures such as centaurs, mermaids, sirens, etc. Even some animals that were long extinct in the Neut realm like saber toothed tigers and mammoths.
Most of them however were deadly creatures of the night.
They fought for no one; they were just animals that couldn't be tamed.
It was hard to catch a creature from the wasteland because most preferred to fight to the death.
And they killed gruesomely with their untamed hearts.
However, legend has it a long time ago these creatures submitted to the dragons. Because as we all know dragons were the ultimate superior race.
Apart from the wastelands belonging to these creatures and other wild animals, it was also the home of the portal to the under realm.
The realm of the demons and devils.
There kingdom was known as Vigra.
In all honesty the demons and devils were scary even more than the vampire when they were in there monster form. They survived by killing human's witches and anything with a soul, causing havoc, especially in the northern regions. In the times of the golden dragons, the demons were never seen but now, only soulless vampiric guards set them at bay.
I know they had a portal to the Neut realm somewhere in their underground grave kingdom to help sustain their soul supply but of course no one really knew.
No normal person had the guts to even go down there even if they were brave enough to actually pass through the creatures in the wastelands.
Well except vampires since they are soulless creatures.
In all honesty, demons and devils could easily be our dominated race and rule over us all but they are kept away by Vampires.
The three kings had submitted to the Vampire king Alec in exchange for protection against the demons.
It has worked for a few hundred years, but I know it won't last for long, Especially now that I knew the dragons were alive and well.
I couldn't help but shiver.
I had known of the prophecy that the former great witch, Emma, rest her soul had given.
At first I thought as much as others how that was just dead impossible, seeing that Dragons are proud and noisy creatures.
It was near impossible that a family or even less a settlement of dragons could be alive without us knowing.
But all doubts were erases when I died.
Now I know they are real.
Because one saved my life.
I know the prophecy but if Abigail and Anna have put up their lives on the line to save this golden prince.
Then I will as well.
I owe them my life.
I will fight to the death.
Oh wait, I can't die.
But still, my loyalty is now to the dragons.
Seeing that every guard was looking for Abigail, it would only be a matter of time before they find out where she is.
They already know she is not in the city; I overheard a few guards question one of her students who informed them that the mother witch did not live amongst them but in a secluded area in the mountains somewhere. Now no one knew where exactly Abigail was living but people did know she lived somewhere in the mountains.
I had no more time to waste. I had to get my love, My Anna away from here.
I know if any guard ever saw her she was to be killed on sight.
I could not let anything happen to her and the child inside her womb. My child.
Death told me the only safe place for her is the Neut realm and there she must go.
I, however, cannot follow, it seems I have to go back.
Death appeared to me last night:
****Flash Back*****
I was currently seated on the edge of a large bed in Estrella house.
Estrella was my aunt, after I had awoken people were so shocked and run away.
You might be surprised that they did seeing that this was the kingdom of the Witches where Magic was as common as bread.
But it was forbidden to raise the dead. Such was known as Black Magic, an Art of magic that has been banned to all witch kind.
Punishable by death.
I know word had already gotten around that I was still alive and soon the people in Riota would come looking for me and I will be hanged and burnt.
But I cannot die so I am not very worried, but I still imagine it will cause a lot of pain and scars if I am to be burnt.
Only my aunt, who was like a mother to me had cared to listen to my story.
Of course she almost fainted when she saw me at her front door.
Her eyes were puffy and red indicating that she had been crying.
Aunt Estrella had lost her husband when I was five. She has been alone ever since and has one child, Manuel my cousin who is also married. Manuel and I are like brothers.
Aunt Estrella told me she had seen my dead body and was in the process of mourning before I knocked on her door.
She did not run when she saw me despite the fact that she almost fainted. Then she hugged me tight and cried louder. After soothing her, I explained everything.
I trusted Aunt Estrella. She was like my mother, a very beautiful, observant, and trustworthy black woman.
Yes I am mixed. My father was a white farmer, his powers were that of nature much like my wife Anna.
My mother was black and as beautiful as the night sky. Her eyes however were light green which made her way more attractive.
My father died a few years ago and my mother followed him about a year later.
Since then, all I've had was Aunt Estrella, Manuel, Anna, Abigail and now my child when she arrives.
I laid back on my bed sighing.
I should probably get some rest before I figure out what to do.
I must be out of this house by sunrise tomorrow, before the people come together and burn me for using Black Magic.
I closed my eyes.
"I though you would have left by now, Mike my man," a voice said.
I almost jumped out of bed.
I turned around to see Death seated on a stool near my bed. His eyes bouncing in amusement.
"What the...you almost gave me a heart attack!" I yelled out touching my heart.
He grinned slyly, "you know for a man with all that muscle you do scream like a girl, Mike"
I did have muscle. I was not ashamed to say I was fit and good looking, maybe a bit bulky.
But all this came from working hard on the farm and also a bit of martial arts.
I rolled my eyes, "I'm as manly as they get, and its Michael by the way."
"Uh...I think I prefer mike, its short and friendly, all my friends have short names so take it," Death replied still with an amused look.
As you reach the final pages, remember that 000005s.org is your destination for the complete story. Share the joy of reading with others and spread the word. The next chapter is just a visit away!
"So, I am a friend? How come I don't know your name...or do you just go by Death?" I asked.
"You can call me whatever, doll face, handsome, sexy, anything that gets you going," he replied winking.
"How about annoying?" I asked playfully.
Death smiled, flashing his surprising white teeth, "sure, muscle man," he replied.
I chuckled to myself as I eyed him carefully.
He was dressed casually in human clothing, if I had just walked in I would have sworn he was just another good-looking man.
It was still hard to believe that this was the great Death.
He laughed a little snapping back my attention to his face.
"I assure you Mike you would prefer this side of me than my deathlier approach, unless you would like to see?" He asked his tongue out as a snake hissing and his eyes as dark as night. Strangely I was not scared, surprises but not scared.
He chuckled again, "someone's got balls, maybe because you know I can't hurt you anymore, and where friends muscle man," he continued playfully as he stood up.
I sighed swinging my leg onto the bed.
"So how many 'friends' do you have?" I asked sarcastically emphasizing the word friends.
He turned back to me with a silly grin, "none, only you," he replied, "so there's no reason to get jealous,"
I grunted, "I thought you said your 'friends' call you whatever they like,"
Death paused for a second tilting his head to the side, "I meant the dead, like Feron the first golden dragon and Adriana and some others I wish I could get rid of, but you can't die twice so..." He rolled his eyes. "How about the other immortals? Like the vampires?" I asked curiously.
Death looked at me disgusted, "I have no association with the soulless, and the only immortal I am able to associate with is Amora, my bride who gave up her earthly domain to become my Queen. She is the only immortal I care for, as for the others Set, Alock and the other gods can suck it." He explained.
"Wow,"
He grinned, "expect me around you a lot these days, I really need some time away from the others, I mean I love Amora but damn that woman's aggressive."
I laughed, so even Death had woman problems.
"I know man, I mean Anna's my soul but sometimes I just want to run!"
He joined me laughing along as well.
"Especially now that she's pregnant her mood is ever changing,"
"Oh, don't worry, just wait until she is in labor, you'll regret the day you ever kissed her with all the foul words that shall leave her mouth,"
We kept laughing for a few minutes before Death spoke up.
"Speaking of Anna, I came to specifically tell you, you need to take her, Edwin, Azian and Abigail to the Neut realm."
I paused for a second, "now?"
"First thing tomorrow, yes. The vampires and Lucan guards are extremely close to finding them, I suggest you start before the sun comes up, they need to get the Neut real, it's the only place they can be safe for sure at least for now."
I thought for a second, "I guess you're right, seeing that I overheard some guards questioning a man about there were and My Anna has been put on the wanted list,"
Death nodded.
"I must get some rest then before my journey to the Neut realm tomorrow," I began fluffing my pillow.
Death sighed, "you are not going anywhere, only your wife and Abigail will be taking the journey to earth, you are needed here for something else,"
I watched him my eyes furrowing, "maybe you don't know, but there's no reason for me to stay, if I did I'll be burnt tomorrow, and I for one, do not want to go through that seeing that I cannot die, I hate scars. No one needs me here, even Aunt Estrella thinks it's better for me to go."
"No one said you would be in Riota, muscle man," Death begun chuckling lightly.
I stared at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
He sat back down on the stool, studying me steadily, "when the mother Witch and the last dragon leave Paria and its lands there will be a war, lots of people will die," he began.
"A war? I thought that will only happen when the boy is of age and comes to take his place?" my heart was beating.
Although our lives were not perfect under the rule of our stupid king at least we still had peace and our children grew to adult hood and then became old, like the cycle of life proclaims.
"My people are not ready for a war; our king is too weak and now that the mother witch will be gone we will all be as good as dead!" I said raising my voice a little.
"Well, what do you think will happen when King Saga and Queen Rebecca fully recover?"
"King who and queen what?" I asked...
"The king and Queen of Dragons, muscle man," death replied, "the king will be furious and since he is a revered Dragon I promise you that the days of waiting are over, he will do anything to get Azian back, including slaughter everyone," My eyes bulged out of their sockets, "king and Queen?" I asked.
I knew the dragons were alive yes, but I thought they were just a settlement of people. But here is Death talking about a king and Queen.
Kings and queens run kingdoms. I was almost afraid to ask this question, "How many dragons are alive?"
Death grinned, "it's been ten thousand years since the great battle, how many offspring do you think they've had since then?"
I gulped down biting my tongue nervously.
"Trust me when I say if they wanted to strike now, they would do much damage, especially that Tar, his dragons is enormous. He is the chosen to lead into battle as the commander. All the spirits of the first pure fire dragons will give him there power, you see both the dead and the alive dragons want to see this world end and submit to the dragons,"
I stood out of bed folding my arms across my broad chest, I failed to say anything as I stood staring at death.
He put his hands in the air as if surrendering, "I have no hate against them, I mean you guys did banish them into extinction, but it's not my battle, my job is to take people to the other side, I mean I guess it will double during the war, like it did in the world wars 1, 2, and 3 in the human realm, agh, I'll just triple on my reapers, "
"We can't let that happen!" I screeched marveled at his calm tone.
He lifted one eyebrow to me, "yes you are right, though they will cause much damage if they start the war, they will not win, only the golden prince can do that," Death explained.
"I don't understand? If that's the case why should I save the golden prince? Isn't it better to end him that way I am assured they will never win?" I asked.
Death chuckled. His voice deep and rough, "I would be careful if I was you, Azian is a golden prince, he may be young, but I assure you it will be hard to kill him. Even if you did manage to get through his insane power, you would have to go through Amora " he shook his head then stared at me, "and me." He finished.
I froze after realizing it was a threat, though he still had a smile on his eyes gave me a warning.
He chuckled again, "besides, we are his relatives, though very, very distant, we are family, but even before all that, your wife Anna would never allow you too, she trusts him and so does Abigail and they would never allow you to either, "
I thought for a minute. He was right.
Death grinned after studying my facial expression, "and even if you did magically manage to defeat all of us, you would still all die. See Azian is your destroyer but he can also be your Savior. Sure, if the dragons start the war now they will not win, no one will. It would be the end."
I nodded taking this all in carefully, "how can I help then?" I asked rubbing my chin covered in my rough light brown beard.
Death smirked, "after you take them to the human world, you shall go to the Ignere forest,"
I laughed like he was stupid, "I am not going into the dark forest, and I do not have a death wish!"
"Well lucky for you, you can't die, or have you forgotten? And you do have death, I'll take you myself so just chill muscle head, "he said playfully.
"Chill? And what do you think the dragons will say when they see me? They will torture me!"
"For a muscle head you sure are a wimp," Death muttered.
I glared at him, "you said yourself the dragons aren't to be messed with. I'm a witch and I do not have a dragon side!"
"Relax, dummy, I'll tell you what to say, trust me they will believe you,"
"Why don't you just do it yourself?"
"I'm a god Mike, I am not allowed to interfere with matters of the flesh I have no connection to, the last thing I want is to be summoned."
"But you're interfering now, talking to me," I said motioning to us.
"Because I have a connection with you, you share my immortality dummy! Keep up muscle man!"
"For the last time it's Michael! Not mike, not muscle man and definitely not Muscle head!" I roared irritated.
"Michael honey are you oka-" my aunt Estrella said barging in.
She looked to me then death then me again.
I froze. Could she see death like me?
"Who is this handsome young man?" Aunt Estrella said eyeing Death like a piece of candy.
Well that solves that, she could see him.
She might have lost her husband and vowed to never move on to another, but she did compliment men from time to time.
Death flashed her an innocent smile.
"Aren't you going to introduce me muscle head? I would love to know who this lovely woman before me is," he said grinning slyly as he stood up and shook my aunt's hand.
I was still frozen.
"Well?" Aunt Estrella asked her eyes never leaving death.
"Oh! I um... well... yeah... this is... uh..." I couldn't just say hello Aunt, this death.
"Peanut!" I blurted.
Both death and Aunt Estrella looked at me.
"Yes, this is my friend peanut, Peanut um...bu-booter," I finished still nervous as hell. "Mr. Peanut Booter?" Aunt Estrella asked in a surprised way as she turned to face him. Death sent me a glare that would have caused me a heart attack if I was able to die.
"Y-yes ma'am that's... well I guess that's me," he admitted sending me another deathly glare.
I had to bite my tongue to stop the laughter as my aunt quickly pulled away from their handshake and sent him a weird glare.
"Strange name," she began before turning back to me, anyway I just thought I heard screaming that's why I came to check up on you," "We are fine Aunt, just talking," I assured her.
She nodded, "alright, have a good night, goodnight to you to Mr....um... peanut," she said uncomfortably before walking out and closing the door.
Death stared at me angrily, "really? Of all names? Peanut? I told you something sexy!
I burst out laughing, I couldn't control my laughter.
"
He watched me with a stupid grin on his face, "I'll see you later Michael, once you calm down, "
And with that he vanished.
The door opened again, and Aunt Estrella walked in with two cups of tea, "I thought maybe you boys wanted some te-where's peanut?" She asked.
"Oh, he had to leave,"
"Really? When did he go? I've just been put for a second,"
"Oh, he used the window," I said pointing to the open window.
Aunt Estrella s eyes brows furrowed. "Strange fellow, ain't he? Peanut?" She said handing me a cup of her famous tea.
My aunt's magic was in medicine and herbal products.
I nodded still trying to muff out the laughter.
*****End of Flash Back*****
