What the hell was I doing? Insinuating that this man—whose last name I didn’t even know—should come visit me after we’d exchanged all of a few words?
“Here you go, Gems.”
Julian’s voice jerked me out of whatever trance Noah had put on me. We both sprang apart at the appearance of my brother. And lucky for us, he didn’t seem to notice how close we’d gotten. He was too busy shooting glances back at Juniper and running his hand through his hair.
“As Lily so kindly pointed out, the presentation is subpar,” he added, shoving a plastic cup into my hand. “But the alcohol is good, I promise.”
I didn’t care about the presentation; I took a big gulp of the wine, needing something to chase down the nerves that Noah was making me feel.
They weren’t bad nerves.
They were good nerves.
Too good.
And that was the problem.
