Awake At Dawn (Wildflower Series Book 2)

Awake At Dawn: Chapter 39

EM : My water nrike.

What?

OH

EM : Beoke

EM : BROKE sorry my hands are shaking

I’m on my way.

Almost there, baby.

Just sit down with Winnie and take a deep breath, Em.

EM : I sat down and Winnie laid on top of Baby so I can’t move anyway.

Winnie is excited to meet her, too.

I’m in the elevator.

EM : I just want to apologize in advance for screaming at you during labor. I love you. 💕

I love you, angel. And you know I like it when you scream my name.

EM : It’s not going to the that kind of scream, baby.

I think I’m going to be sick.

JONESY: You’re not the one who’s pushing a baby out of their body. Get it together, London.

You don’t think I know that? Why do you think I’m texting you? Gemma sure as hell doesn’t need to know how much I’m freaking out.

JONESY: You’re gonna be a great dad, man. Gemma and that baby are lucky to have you.

Was that so hard?

JONESY: Sorry, I wasn’t sure which angle to go for.

JONESY: Next time I’ll skip the tough love, my bad.

JONESY: I meant it when I said you’re going to be a great dad, though.

JONESY: Whole team is hella excited for you.

Thanks, Jones.

Can you please both get your asses over here? I don’t trust anything that’s happening right now.

BLAKE: Everything is going to be fine. I’m finishing up my rounds, but then I’ll be there.

BLAKE: I thought you liked Dr. Amos.

I do. But she isn’t my sibling.

NAT: I’m touched, baby brother.

BLAKE: You do know we’re not highly trained in delivering babies like Dr. Amos is, right?

Small details.

Just get here.

Now.

NAT: Gemma is going to be fine. So is the baby. Everything will be okay, Noah.

NAT: But I’m coming.

NAT: Wouldn’t miss the birth of my niece.

I’m so excited to meet her.

BLAKE: We’re so happy for you, man.

BLAKE: And so excited to meet her, too.

Since when does Delaney work in Boston?

BLAKE: What? She doesn’t. She’s still in cardiology at Mayo.

Huh. Thought I just saw her. Nerves must be making me see things.

NAT: Get off your phone and pay attention to your girlfriend, Noah.

BRIGGSY: Let me in.

No. If anyone is coming in, it’s Juniper.

BRIGGSY: If Juniper comes in, I come in.

No one’s coming into this hospital room.

BRIGGSY: I heard you invited your siblings in.

They’re doctors. You’re not. But then Gemma vetoed it anyway. She said I was being ridiculous.

BRIGGSY: Is she okay?

She’s okay. I promise. I got her, Julian.

BRIGGSY: I know you do.

MOM: Can’t wait to meet my new grandbaby. Send pix asap!!!!

MOM: Love you and Gemma.

We love you too, Mom.

DAVE THE REALTOR: The sellers got back to us with a counteroffer. I sent the details to your email, but we need to act fast.

DAVE THE REALTOR: So… did you get a chance to look it over?

DAVE THE REALTOR: What should I tell them?

My girlfriend’s in labor. Give them whatever they’re asking for. I don’t care.

DAVE THE REALTOR: It’s a done deal.

DAVE THE REALTOR: Congratulations!

JUNIPER: Tell Gems I love her, and she’s got this!

JUNIPER: I love both of you!

JUNIPER: All three of you!

Gemma says she loves you and not to let Jules see these texts.

JUNIPER: He’s too busy pacing the waiting room.

GRAY: Deep breaths, Noah. Deep breaths.

Does it ever get less scary?

GRAY: Never. But it does get more amazing.

JOHN: You should know there’s no one else I’d rather have at my daughter’s side.

I’m not ever leaving her side, John.

I was going to do this in person, but you should know I plan to ask your daughter to marry me.

JOHN: I already knew. Good.

SULLY: It’s not too late to name her Sullivan.

SULLY: I would also accept a middle name.

SULLY: People end up getting called by their middle names all the time.

Sul, I’m kinda busy. You already interrupted our first kiss, you don’t need to interrupt the birth of our first child, too.

SULLY: I’m just having FOMO.

SULLY: Blake and Natalie get to be there.

You can move here too, you know.

SULLY: Tempting.

SULLY: Also, was that really your first kiss? You lived with her for months in that penthouse of yours and waited until you were in a bar bathroom in Minnesota to make a move before taking her back to our parents’ house?

Goodbye, Sully.

SULLY: No, come back!!!

SULLY: I want to know everything!!

SULLY: How dilated is she??

THEO: I’m really happy for you, man.

THEO: And I can’t wait to visit so I can meet her.

Do you want to come visit so you meet my daughter or so you see her aunt again?

THEO: Gemma told you about the football game, huh?

That you couldn’t stop ogling her sister? Yeah, she mentioned.

THEO: Did she also mention she was going to share her sister’s number?

NAT: Mom says I’m not old enough to babysit the baby.

NAT: Tell her I’m old enough, Uncle Noah.

Just give it a couple more years, Lo.

Hi everyone. It was a long night, but Delilah Dawn London-Briggs was born at 6:45 this morning, weighing 8lbs 3oz. She looks like her mom, who is very tired but very happy.

We both are.
