Auctioned to The Pack: Chapter 6
I found the only omega I liked. And she had to run off like that. Maybe she was scared of my pack like all the other women. But she seemed like she didn’t know me at all. Like she wasn’t part of mainstream society.
I nursed a drink in my hand, still at the Omega Ball and looking around at potential omega mates.
I couldn’t bring myself to talk to any of them. They were either too ditzy or hyper-eager to talk to alphas. I didn’t want an omega running off to another pack when she went into heat. I was looking for a serious commitment this time.
Keera was beautiful, smart and laughed at my jokes. Omegas were normally put off by me for some reason. But not Keera.
I had to go after her.
I handed a server my empty glass and weaved my way through the crowd, looking for the runaway omega. Keera couldn’t have gone too far. It had only been five minutes.
“Jatix!” called a voice. I recognized the Alpha King’s voice. Groaning inside, I stopped immediately and turned. I noticed that King Saku had gotten older. His hair was white, and his body had shrunken down. Prominent wrinkles graced his face and neck. His eyes were hollow with age.
“King Saku,” I said, turning to him and bowing my head.
“How have you been, my son?” he asked, his voice frail.
“I’ve been excellent,” I said. “And yourself?”
“I could be much better,” he said. “How are you faring with your father’s death?”
My father was a good friend of King Saku, carrying out dubious tasks that made my pack the most feared in Howl’s Edge. Like hunting the wild wolfmen. My father hunted Wild Wolfmen for years, keeping the island safe. The rumors of me killing anyone who crossed me weren’t true, but it was fun to entertain those stories and see the respect in the people’s eyes.
“It’s been five years. I’ve been coping,” I said. In the beginning, I couldn’t even get out of bed because of the grief. But as time went by, things got easier to cope with. Of course, the pain was still there. I loved my father. He was a powerful man with a big presence. During one of his raids on the wild wolfmen, a silver spear struck his heart.
“I’m afraid my time is coming soon,” said King Saku. “My body has been afflicted with sickness. Only the family knows.”
“Are you serious?” I asked, surprised. He was like an uncle to me. I couldn’t remember the countless times my father brought me to the palace as he took care of business on the island’s outskirts.
“I am,” said King Saku, looking up at his family. “That’s why I have a proposition to make.”
“Okay?” I asked, not sure where the hell this conversation was going. If he wanted me to kill Wild Wolfmen, I wasn’t interested. They were an abomination and refused to live in civilized society, only interested in taking our omegas by force.
“I would like for you to marry my daughter, Princess Lyra,” he said slowly. “A strong pack like yours will make a great match to the Royal Pack. How about it?”
I looked up at Princess Lyra, who was scoffing at some of the alphas trying to talk to her. She flipped her golden hair, looking unhappy.
Oof, not my type.
“I want to thank you for the gracious offer,” I said. “But King…”
“Before you refuse. I’d like you to think about it, Jatix,” interrupted King Saku. “If you haven’t found any prospects for your pack, consider my daughter. I know she would be in good hands.”
I sighed.
“Yes, of course, I’ll think on it. It would be an honor,” I said, and King Saku smiled, showing his bright white dentures. If only he knew the real me, he would never have offered his daughter.
I continued my search for Keera. Finally, I walked to the front doors and pulled Darius to the side.
“She’s gone, Jatix,” said Darius before I could open my mouth.
“How do you know who I’m talking about?”
“She was the only omega you danced with tonight,” said Darius with a smirk. The scar above his right cheek was prominent under the light.
“Did you get a license plate? Anything?”
“I can’t move from my station. Plus, you’re going to scare her off with your crazy sex toys and dungeon,” said Darius.
“Useless ass delta,” I muttered, running out of the front doors to look for her myself. She could still be out there in the parking area. I walked down each parking lot row, not seeing her pretty face anywhere.
Maybe Darius was right. She might get scared of the dungeon.
I was aimlessly walking around the parking lot now.
But at the same time, I could see a part of her that wanted wild adventures. She was the type who would be open to all the crazy shit I was into. I wanted to see her spread out on the sex swing, her naked boobs jiggling and eagerly waiting to be sucked. My dick started to harden in my pants.
I needed to stop now before I had a one-night stand with a random omega.
Maybe it was time to look for an omega at the auction. And at least open myself up to other possibilities, regardless of what the pack thought.
