Chapter 598 What Are You Hiding From Me
'Do I know who she is?
Of course, I know who she is! It is because she is lying right next to me, 'Zed thought with a bitter smile on his face.
He stared at Jean, not knowing whether he should tell her the truth or not.
Jean was puzzled by the way Zed looked at her, so she stared at him, frowned in confusion and asked, "No way! You do know her, right? It's not been long since Moore came back to H City, and has he already told you who that girl is?" Jean suddenly realized that what she said sounded wrong.
'Moore had been in the hospital since he came to H City, and I am pretty sure I know every friend that Moore has.
Why does Zed know that girl while I don't? It's so strange! Moore always tells me everything,' Jean thought.
As this thought crossed Jean's mind, she became certain that Zed was hiding something from her. She looked at Zed and asked, "No, there must be something wrong! Zed, are you still hiding something from me? Tell me honestly who that girl is? I think that you know her." Jean stared at Zed as she said that.
Zed knew Jean would never give up, so he sighed and said, "I don't know what to tell you. Jean, listen to me! Now that Moore and Avery are together, let's not talk about that girl ever again, okay?"
"Why?" asked Jean as she was puzzled.
"I don't think Moore wants us to talk about it anymore," said Zed firmly as he looked at Jean.
Jean nodded in agreement when she heard what Zed said. "Come on! I don't want to talk about it. But you keep mentioning it tonight! What's wrong with you? Or if what I'm guessing is right, then you know something about that girl Moore loves and you feel guilty whenever I mention her. And you also want to avoid answering my questions, right?"
"No, I am answering your question now." Zed felt helpless so he smiled bitterly and asked, "Why do you think that I know who that girl is? You spend so much time with Moore, don't you? You must know him better than me!"
Zed had no other choice but to answer Jean vaguely.
Jean was stunned when she heard what Zed said. Although she knew what Zed said was right, she still felt strange because of the way he answered.
"Then why did you get mad at me just now? I was talking to Maranda and you took my cell phone. Why did you do that? Are you defending that girl?" Jean snorted annoyingly.
"Defending that girl? Are you kidding me?" replied Zed as he heard Jean's words.
'What the hell are you talking about? You're that girl and I'm not stupid to give up you to Moore, 'Zed thought.
"Jean, you must have misunderstood me," Zed sighed helplessly and said. "I just didn't want you to force Moore to accept Avery. You know that you can never force anyone to accept someone who he has no feelings for. Such kind of relationship never lasts long. They both will regret if they break up one day."
"No, I don't think so!" Jean wanted to persuade Zed so she said, "I've told you many times that love can develop, and we both are the living example of that. So I think that Moore and Avery will be happy. They are a perfect match."
Zed had no idea what to say, so he sighed helplessly and looked at Jean.
'Jean, I hope everything turns out the way you said.
I sincerely hope that Moore and Avery stay happy,' Zed thought.
"All right! Now that you are so confident about their future, I won't stop you ever again. Let's go to sleep! It's already midnight," Zed said gently as he put his arms around Jean.
"Well, yes. Let's go to sleep." Jean was still excited. She was quite satisfied with what happened today. She stared at the ceiling for a long time as she couldn't fall asleep.
But Zed was tired, so he fell asleep quickly and started snoring after a few minutes.
Jean looked at Zed's angular face which shone in the moonlight coming through the window. Jean was doubtful as she remembered Zed's words.
'Why did Zed react so immensely when I mentioned Moore and Avery? Why does he fear that Moore and Avery will not be happy?
I'm sure about one thing, that Zed doesn't know anything about that girl. I know Moore better than Zed. If Moore wants to tell someone his secret, I'll be the first one he'll come to.
Or maybe Moore told something related to that girl to Zed. Otherwise, Zed wouldn't have behaved so weirdly tonight, ' Jean thought doubtfully.
Jean was lost in thoughts. She struggled for a little while and gave up.
Then she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Jean slept quite well the entire night, and when she woke up, Zed had already left.
Jean rubbed her eyes, stretched her body and got up.
She washed her face, brushed her teeth and dressed up neatly. Then she went downstairs.
There was no one in the living room.
She sat down for breakfast. As Jean was eating her sandwich, she asked Zelda, "Zelda, where is everyone? Are they still sleeping?"
"Mrs. Jean, are you asking about Mr. Moore and that beautiful foreign lady?"
"Yes!" Zed had already left for work, so she must be asking about Moore and Avery.
"They got up soon after Mr. Zed left for work. But they left quickly and didn't even have breakfast. I had asked them what they were going to do. And Mr. Moore told me that he wanted to take that young lady out to hang around. They didn't take you with them because of your foot injury. They will be back before dinner," said Zelda.
"What the hell?" As Jean heard what Zelda said, she sniffed and muttered discontentedly, "Moore, you are so ungrateful! Now that you have a girlfriend, you left me alone at home. Did you forget that I'm your friend? If I had known you were this heartless and selfish, I would have never paired you two up yesterday."
After Jean said those words, she took a bite from the sandwich and chewed it resentfully.
Zelda saw that Jean was angry because of what she had said. She hurriedly stopped what she was about to say.
After Jean had breakfast, she sat on the sofa and watched TV.
She was still lost in thoughts. The fact that she was home alone made her very angry.
"No, I shouldn't be angry about this. My wish was to set Moore and Avery up, and now my wish has come true. I should be happy for them. Even though they are a couple now, Avery won't be able to spend too much time with Moore. Today is the last day she can enjoy with Moore. I hope they have a good day!" As Avery's identity crossed Jean's mind, she sighed. Now she was worried about their relationship. She was afraid that Avery would not be able to spend time with Moore.
'Moore has almost recovered now. If he chooses to stay with Avery, then he will not only have more time to accompany Avery, but also cultivate the relationship between them. What's more, he can even prevent himself from being bothered by the people of the Bai family. This is totally killing three birds with one stone,'
thought Jean with excitement.
Suddenly, the phone in the living room rang and Jean became serious.
She stared at the phone for a few seconds and felt a little strange.
'It's so early in the morning. Who could that be?
Joy called last time, will it be her this time too?' thought Jean nervously.
Zed had told Jean that the court had decided to suspend Joy's sentence due to her illness.
They could have required the court to sentence Joy as soon as possible, but they didn't. So now Joy had no other reasons to call Jean anymore.
Jean walked over to the phone. She hesitated for a while and picked up the phone.
"Hello, is that Jean Wen speaking?" Jean heard an unfamiliar yet calm voice from the other side.
"Yes, this is Jean speaking. Who's that?" Jean sighed in relief and calmed down as it wasn't Joy on the other end of the phone.
"Sorry to bother you! I am speaking from JH Hospital. I would like to let you know that the patient called Joy is now in coma and it is an urgent situation. This phone number is the only contact that Joy has kept. Can you come over now, please?"
