Chapter 86
Nikolay:
“Daddy, where is mama?” Bianca asked, making me frown.
“Mama is at home,” I said, looking at my daughter through the rear mirror, reminding myself that she was a child. I knew that she would be looking for Katerina, but this was the one way for her to submit.
Katerina was not going to be the one setting the rules, I won’t allow it.
“Why is mama not coming with us?” Andrew asked, and I smiled at them as we stopped in front of the traffic light. They knew her, and I knew for fact that it wasn’t something that would come in my benefit.
The kids needed to know me, they needed to be connected to me if a social worker should ask if I spent time with them. Thankfully, being as young as they were, I could casily use that to my advantage.
“Mama and daddy are going to have to deal with a few things. Don’t worry, though, you are going to see her soon. I just want you to meet someone,” I said, smiling at my son before turning to the street as the traffic light turned green.
I drove off, knowing that Ashley would be waiting. Even if she didn’t want the children around, she knew that it would be in her benefit for them to be in the house. The maids. that we had and the nannies that I hired would be taking care of most of the job
anyway.
“Are we going to school?” Bianca asked, and I chuckled.
“It is a little too late for school, baby girl. The daycare won’t open till morning,” I said, and Bianca pouted but nodded.
“Can we play games where we are going?” Andrew asked, and I nodded.
“You can do everything that you want. It is going to be your dad’s house. No one is going to tell you not to do something that you want to do, and most importantly, you are going to be staying with me a lot more often.” I said, stopping in front of the parking lot.
Ashley, who was already aware that we were on the way, stood by the door, smiling at me. I walked out of the car and opened the door for the kids before taking Bianca in my arms and holding Andrew’s hand. The three of us walked toward the house where we

were greeted by my woman.
“It’s about time that I met these little angels.” Ashley said, extending a hand to Bianca. My daughter laid her head on my shoulder, wanting to cover it from Ashley who frowned. She kneeled in front of Andrew only for her smile to fade from her face when she saw that my son was hiding behind my leg.
“They need to get to know you first, you know that children aren’t just approached like that.” I said, and she nodded as she rose to her feet. I leaned in, pecking her lips and she smiled.
“Well, then, how about we go inside? I have a feeling that they are going to like the surprise that we have set out for them.” Ashley said, and I nodded. Their room was already set and the play room that I had made for them was going to keep them distracted for a few days. At least, it would make them forget about not being at home with their mother for a while. This was going to spare me the headache of them looking for her.
“Did you give the instructions to the nannies?” I asked, and Ashley nodded as she opened the door for me.
“They are going to be taking care of them day and night. You don’t need to worry, neither one of them is going to leave their sides. The four maids know that two would be for the morning shift, and the other two of the night. They have the tutors already informed that they are going to be coming here for their classes. That would spare me helping them with their homework,” Ashley said, and I nodded, fighting back the urge to roll my eyes.
“I am not sure which option do I find more intriguing and odd, the fact that you are complaining about a child’s homework, or the fact…”
“You know that I am not complaining, Nikolay, but I am suddenly becoming a parent. Don’t get me wrong, but I find it a little hard for me to digest when I don’t know anything about it yet. I will be getting the hang of it, don’t worry.” She said, and I nodded. We entered the house and the kids looked around, trying to familiarize themselves, and though I knew that it would be a while for them to understand what was going on, I knew that it would be easier for them. They weren’t teenagers who had to cope, a toddler can be played, if I put it correctly.
“I want to go home,” Andrew said, looking up at me. “I want mama,”
”
I looked at my son and noticed that Bianca was also uncomfortable as I set her down. She didn’t want me to put her on the floor.

“I want mama, daddy.” She said, forcing me to control my emotions as not to show them the annoyance that I felt at the fact that she was still being mentioned. Ashley looked down at the kids for a moment before getting down on her knees, keeping a short distance from them.
“But I wanted you to see the playing room that I had set for you.” She said, catching Andrew’s attention. “You know, there are a lot of toys, even dolls. I think that you can see them first, get some rest, then you can go home to mom?”
“I don’t want to be here, I want mama.” Andrew repeated, sternly.
“But your mom knows that you’re here,” I said, my voice softening. “Remember, she told you to have fun.”
I knew to play my words carefully, knowing that everything that I was going to say or do was going to put its mark right now. And I didn’t want to end up dealing with the fuss.
“Can we play with the toys that are in the playing room?” Bianca asked, looking at me. I smiled and nodded.
“Everything in that room is yours. All you have to do is enjoy it,” I said, looking at Ashley. She smiled and winked, knowing that things were going to end up going our way. I was going to be sure that they forgot Katerina. Not only is she going to be the weekend parent, but I will be sure that by time, they would be forgetting the urge to go to her place to begin with. “Come on, let me show you where it is…”
