Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Katerina:

“It gets harder by the day, Viktor.” I said, shaking my head as I tried to allow myself to digest everything that I was forced to go through. “He keeps trying to tick my nerves, and whenever I dismiss him, he presses on the children’s topic.”
“And he is going to keep doing so. You are going to need to be patient and you are going to need to be quiet through it.” He said, and I shook my head as I ran my fingers through my hair.
“How am I going to be patient and quiet when I know that my children are the price that is on the line? I know that it might not make sense to you, but when he presses on that topic, when he puts me in that situation…” Viktor got up from his desk and walked toward the chair that was in front of mine, taking a seat.
“I admire one thing about you, and that is the persistence that you’re having.” He said, stopping me from whatever I was going to say. “He is pressing on you to see the limit that he can reach, and you are showing it to him.”
“The limit is my children…”
“I told you, he is going to do what he can to break you with your children. You said that you were willing to pay the price, even if it meant splitting up from them for a while. Would you still be able to handle it? Before I file for things?” He asked, and I looked away from him.
“I am scared that they might not understand. They are going to be too fumbled, and they’re too young to be put in such a situation. I know that he might even bring the mistress over, that would make matters worse.” I said, and he nodded. “You are allowing me to vent, but you’re watching in
silence.”

“Because I am curious about how much you want to do this.” He said, and I looked away from him for a moment. “One minute, you are determined, but the next, it is like you need pep talk to keep going. I understand that you’re in conflict, but this is the consequence of a divorce, Katerina.”
“I want this, and I never said otherwise. I just don’t want the children to be harmed. This can’t be too bad as a mother?” I said, and he shook his head.
“But you can be affected by your decisions, and that is not something that YOU are willing to understand. While yes, you are hurting and I understand, you are scared, and scarred. You might not show it, I can see it in your eyes.”
“I was cheated on, what more does a woman need to be scarred?” I asked, and he smiled.
“You are in the very beginning of things, Katerina. The man can do a lot worse if he wants to, and sadly, you are giving it to him on a golden plate. I understand that you don’t want to give it to him,

and I know that it is tearing you apart to do so. But I believe that it is time that you make a decision, a final one.” He said, and I frowned.
“I haven’t been coming here to drink tea? I said, raising an eyebrow. He smirked and got up before heading back to his desk.
He pulled out a file and handed it to me, making my eyes widen in surprise at the sight of the paper. It was the divorce paper, one for me, and I knew that there would be another one for him.
“Well then, I believe that it is time for war.” He said, making me smile. “There is no going back from this now. If you can get him to sign this agreement, which will not happen, we can proceed. If notahen we are going to start with the alternative.”
“And the alternative is?” I asked, shaking my head in question as I kept my eyes on the paper in front of me, reading through it.
“You see, in the papers that you are having, you are merely requesting for your children to be with you. By law, he can see them during hours that are to be decided by the judge and jury. You agree not to speak of his scandal anywhere, and that door is closed. Two of you have a mutual agreement divorce, with no trouble, and no problems.” He said, explaining the clauses that he had added in the
paper.
“And the alternative?”
“Which is what we are going to resolve to, considering the fact that I know for fact that he is not going to sign the paper easily. He is going to pressure you and he is going to try to break something in you before he does. We are going to stop him from doing so in smarter way.” He said, looking me in the eye as I looked up from the paper.
“The alternative would be ‘war‘ as they call it in the court. The one issue that we will have is the children. We are going to need to keep them away from this.” He said, and I frowned in confusion. “You are going to take every single thing that he thinks that he has. Whether it is the kids, his money, whatever he has earned throughout your entire marriage period. Everything that he thinks valuable. I will be sure that it belongs to you.”
I took a deep breath as a small smile formed on my lips before I nodded, knowing that there was no way out of this now. I wanted things to end this way, I wanted them to go my way. For the first time in my life, I was going to fight back with everything that I had.
“Well then, I think that it is time for me to head home. I believe that I should be giving my husband this paper personally…”
