Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Nikolay:
“How the fucking hell did you come to the conclusion of speaking to Katerina?” I asked, snapping at Ashley.
She had opened the door, expecting me to come and stay here. It was what I often did whenever I wanted to stay away from the house.
“I beg your pardon?” She asked, frowning at me. I shook my head in question as a mocking laugh escaped my lips. Her eyes were fixed on mine for a moment, and I waited for her to deny things. She stayed quiet.
“Why the fucking hell did you speak to her? What the fucking hell were you thinking?” I asked, shaking my head in question.
“Surely you wouldn’t have expected me to stand back as I watched the two of you playing lovers in public, right? The woman has been gloating about the two of you together on the media, whether or not it is true…”
“That shouldn’t concern you! I never asked you to fucking do that!” I snapped, and she looked down at her feet, avoiding her eyes. Her eyes welled up with tears, and I shook my head at her.
“I wasn’t going to watch her live the life that I want while I stand back and do nothing. I am classed as your lover, she calls me a mistress when she speaks to you.” She said, lowering her voice as she tried to hide her sadness. “I know that I did something wrong, but…”
I cupped her cheeks and made her look at me, my eyes softening as I wiped her tears from her cheeks, not wanting her to cry. Her eyes met mine and I leaned in, connecting my lips with hers.
“Don’t worry, for now, 1 managed to delete the evidence that she had in hand.” I said, speaking softly. Her threat of filing the divorce against me was one that I found myself being angry with. But I knew that with nothing in hand, she wasn’t going to be able tog et anything out of this. “But this is going to be the last time you speak to her. At least, until the two of us got our divorce situation settled.”
“Divorce?” Ashley asked, her eyes widening in surprise. I didn’t inform her of what I wanted to do, but then again, I didn’t think that she would be as impulsive with her actions. It turned out that I was wrong. She was a little more impulsive than I thought that she would be.

“I think that it is time for our relationship to be a real one,” I said, and her eyes widened in surprise as I pulled out a jewel box. It was a diamond necklace, one that marked a new change for the two of us. “But I am going to need you to lay low. Don’t call or text me unless I called first. The last thing that we need is for her to have any evidence to give to the judges.”
“How are you going to get her to sign the papers? You know Katerina, she is not going to…”
“I am going to have my way with her.” I said, stopping Ashley. Her eyes were fixed on mine for a second, and I knew that she was trying to find the right words to express what she was feeling or how she was thinking. “I just need you to promise me that you would stay out of the way until we’ve managed things. don’t want you to get involved in unnecessary conflict.”
“As long as I know that you are by my side, why would I be starting any conflict?” She asked, wrapping her arms around me. She pulled me to her, and I smiled, tightening my arms around her waist. I connected my lips with hers in a gentle kiss before pulling away to rest my forehead against hers.
“It seems to me that tonight is not one that you want to…”
“Today, I just want to lay in your arms for a few hours. There is a lot on my mind and I am going to need to think. But your presence brings me peace.” I said, and she smiled. She nodded, and wrapped her hand around my bicep, pulling me inside the bedroom. She helped me take my jacket off, and I watched as she hung it inside the closet before walking toward the bed. She removed the blanket, and I shook my head when I saw that she was yet to make the bed. She just had the blanket draped over it.
“Did you at least change the sheets after last night?” I asked, and she laughed.
“It is only messy because I was laying on it for the past few hours.” She said, and I nodded. I watched as she took a step back and pressing a button on her remote, the TV rose from the countertop. “You can watch TV while I prepare you something to eat.”
“You don’t know how to cook, Ashley.” I said, and she bit her bottom lip. She looked me in the eye and shook her head at me while I raised an amused eyebrow. I had to admit, I was more than willing to have this peace if things were going to be this way.
“I am not that chaotic, Nikolay.” She said, shaking her head. “I do know the basics of cooking. I am no chef, I agree, but I can make the best mac and cheese.“.
I nodded, knowing that it would be a better option for me to order takeout. If I was going to depend on her cooking, then I was going to end up living on fried food or her basics of what she called cooking.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her to my chest, making the woman laugh.
“How about the two of us watch a movie while I order us some takeout?” I asked, putting in mind that I was going to need to hire a chef and two maids to take care of this house. I didn’t mind though. It wasn’t like I didn’t have maids and chefs at home anyway. “I need your presence by my side, and you going to cook is only going to take you away from me…‘
