Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Katerina:
My heart raced as I stood in front of Anastasia, greeting her.
Her eyes met mine and she extended her hand to me, and looking down at it, I extended mine and shook hers.
“Welcome over, Anastasia.” I said, choosing to be polite. Regardless of the pain that I felt concerning the woman, I wasn’t going to end up fighting her over my husband. It wasn’t something that I did, and I hoped to never reach to a point where I would ever have to fight a woman, regardless of who she is, for a position in my husband’s heart.
She looked at me, studying my expression before her eyes landed on the love bite that I had on my neck. Almost all the women seemed to have paid attention to it, and I didn’t know whether it was because they were impressed or annoyed by the fact that my husband and I were finally real; however, I could tell that Anastasia was not happy about this. If anything, her eyes welled up with tears before she put her hand on her bloated stomach.
“I take it that the two of you are now the loving husband and wife?” Anastasia asked, taking me by surprise. I looked down at her stomach for a few seconds, unsure what to respond to the woman. She couldn’t seriously be angry about this. Hell, the woman had her husband, and that was something that everyone knew. She was pregnant and was carrying the man’s baby; therefore, for her to be this angry did not make sense to me. If anything, I couldn’t understand why she was as upset as she was right. now or why I felt the need to explain anything to her.
“The two of us have always been a happy husband and wife.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest as she frowned. Her eyes glared daggers at me, making my heart race in fear. It wasn’t me being afraid of the woman. I knew that the maximum that she could do is scream or fight, but I didn’t want the woman to bring back a past insecurity to me that I knew that Nikolay was fighting hard to prevent.

Seeing me stand by her side for a while, Nikolay approached and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me to his chest. “Trouble in paradise, I see?”
He looked at Anastasia, knowing that I wouldn’t be causing trouble with her. If anything, he did ask me to start a problem with her initially, wanting to send her away or annoy her at least. It was me who didn’t want. to. The woman was with child and the last thing I wanted to do was risk hurting that baby. Nikolay knew that and for that, he chose to let me be and do what I wanted. Though I was well aware that he didn’t like it. He wanted me fending for myself against her. I, however, didn’t see myself getting in an argument with a pregnant woman. It was something that I was against and that was something that Nikolay, thankfully, respected.
“Why?” Anastasia asked, shaking her head in question. “What did you find in her that had you leaving me? And don’t tell me that you got to…”
“You are a married woman, Anastasia; therefore, I do suggest that you go back to your husband.” Nikolay said, stopping her. The woman’s eyes widened in surprise and tightening his arm around me, Nikolay pulled me toward the bar which was set with small shots of vodka. I took a shot, and seeing me, Nikolay smirked before doing the same.
“Thank you for what you just did.” I said, looking down at my feet, avoiding his eyes. I knew that he didn’t have to do it; therefore, for me to know that he stood up for me in front of the woman that was his first love, if anything, I still wasn’t completely sure whether he had gotten over her or not. I was just choosing not to dwell on topics that I didn’t want to think. of.
I came to learn by time was that I had to deal with the situation that I was. laid in and not fantasies or assumptions, and that was something that I knew Nikolay appreciated. Therefore, whether or not he loved her, whether his feelings toward me were true or not, the two of us were happy together and he was treating me right. That was all I could ask for and all that I would wish for.
Therefore to analyze, put in too many thoughts, and grow angry about his past was something that I didn’t want to do. If anything, I was never the

type to even interfere in what didn’t concern me. Of course, that was until I was forced to do so to protect myself. Otherwise, I was mostly in my own bubble, swimming as I tried getting past the heavy currents that could hit from time to time. Thankfully though, this time, I had someone to be there for me and by my side throughout that hurricane. My husband, my pride, love, and glory, was there by my side, supporting me through thick and thin, regardless of the situation.
Therefore, whatever past, or whatever it is that he might be hiding, I was going to choose to act based on what I saw and what I saw alone.
“Are you okay?” Nikolay asked, turning his attention to me once he was sure that Anastasia was beside her husband who didn’t bother looking our way. The man looked scary, I had to admit that, and Anastasia looked down at her feet, avoiding his eyes, reminding me of MY past.
It was one that I wanted to escape so badly that I didn’t mind marrying a man that I didn’t know.
I always wanted to fee the torment that I got and had, but I always knew that they would find me. Then one day, my mother, the woman who was supposed to be my savior through thick and thin, chose to tell me that she had a husband figure for me.
I had to admit, at first, I was scared. I feared him being just like my father and that wasn’t something that I wanted to deal with; but, seeing how we were now, I was thankful for being as lucky as I was. The man, regardless of everything, how we started, how much we hated one another, and our anger, I knew that the man loved me. His eyes met mine and he pulled me to him, leaning in to kiss my lips, making my heart skip a beat.
“You know, I am very thankful to have married you as my husband.” I said, choosing to voice out my thoughts. My husband stayed quiet as he looked down at me. I knew was thinking, getting lost in his thoughts as he probably recalled a few memories that he might have wanted to forget. But I was more than determined to be that savior of his, wanting to help him out of his dark side, and as his wife, I was going to prove it to him.

My eyes caught sight of Anastasia who was glaring daggers at us before I cupped his lips, taking him by surprise. However, something about Nikolay, he never did reject surprises.
We pulled away to look one another in the eye and Nikolay smirked, raising an amused eyebrow as he did. “Claiming what is yours?”
“Yes, and making sure that the wolf sees it. Now, I do hope that you don’t mind me eating your face up.. *
I honestly did expect him to call me an idiot, reject me, or at least try to push me away. However, instead, he cupped my cheeks pulling me closer to him before kissing me as if his life depended on me and that kiss alone.
I was about to open my mouth to speak with the sound of screaming made me frown, and turning to look at Anastasia, I frowned at the sight of water under her.
“Shit…”
“Yes, her water just broke….”
