Chapter Prologue
Logan
Logan Miller walked with authority. One glance at him and you could feel the power that he radiated. He had been Beta of the Moon Rise pack for two years now, while his best friend Caleb Meyers was Alpha. Their pack was among the strongest in the state; ranking at number three. After finishing college and getting a degree in business, he was ready to resume his position as Beta. The pack needed its Beta, and he was coming to surprise them at Luna Valerie Marshall’s birthday celebration.
“Logan, it is so great to have you back, man.” The Alpha smiled at him. He grabbed Caleb’s arm, pulled him forward and patted his back. A squeal erupted behind Caleb. He smiled knowingly. Sure enough, his Luna embraced him. Luna stepped back and Caleb wrapped his arm around her waist. He had been gone for a long time, but he was finally home.
“It’s great to be back.” Just as a tease, he lifted the Luna’s hand and brought it towards him and kissed it, earning a growl from the Alpha.
“Always a pleasure, Logan.” Caleb growled again. In the months he was gone, his Alpha and Luna, thankfully, didn’t change.
“Relax Cal, Val’s all yours. I can stay for a little bit, but I’m really exhausted, and I need put my things back in my room. Happy birthday, Luna.” Before Logan left, his eyes traveled around the room. There were people he remembered and people he had yet to meet. He was about to leave, when his eyes did a double take to a woman he had never seen before. She seemed to be laughing at a joke someone was telling. Whoever this girl was, she was a sight to see: blazing red hair cascading down her body beautifully, leading him to notice her dark green sweater dress hugging her body wonderfully. He could only imagine what color her eyes were. She was ravishing.
He nodded his head behind Valerie and asked, “Who is that girl over there?” The two of them glanced to where he was looking, but Caleb turned away fast and growled.
“Don’t growl at her!” Valerie hit Caleb’s chest and looked over to Logan who was still staring at the girl. “That’s my friend from high school. Rosetta.”
“Rosetta,” Saying her name brought a smile upon his lips. He was determined to talk to her, but Caleb stopped him.
“She’s human. Don’t go anywhere near her tonight.” Logan narrowed his eyes but obeyed. He couldn’t go against an Alpha’s order, even if it was to see his mate. The alpha command stopped him from approaching his mate.
“You’re going to keep me from my mate?” Caleb rolled his eyes. Valerie gasped in excitement. “He understood why Caleb commanded him. It was Luna’s day. He wouldn’t try to take that away from her. Besides, he had more control than Alpha believed.
After entering his room and putting all his clothes back in the drawers and closet he took a good look at it and sighed in content. Hopefully, he would meet his mate again and eventually go back to his old home. The thought of his old house made him reach for the photo on the nightstand next to the bed. It was an old picture from when he still had a family. He was ten and smiling next to his wonderful mother and father, but that was before the accident. Exhaustion hit him like a force in the wind. He placed the frame back on the nightstand; and turned off the lights heading straight to the mattress. He fell asleep hoping to see her again.
