Angel’s bliss

She took a couple of deep breaths and focused on trying to keep her hands steady. The shaking wasn’t as noticeable at least and she saw it as a victory. She walked back to Zane’s office before she could talk herself out of the deal.

I want them sent to my email within thirty minutes,” he was telling someone over the phone as he studied her when

she walked over to the window and looked out over the dancefloor below.

She was really getting tired, it had been a long day, followed by a horrible and terrifying evening that ended in her having to make the hardest decision of her life. Now all she wanted was to go to sleep. She had a long list of things she needed to deal with in the morning.

“Time to go home,” Zane said from behind her, making her jump. When had he got up from his desk? “You need to relax, angel,” he chuckled and placed his hand on her lower back. Her body tensed up by instinct. The faint reflection of Zane’s face in the window told Ava he didn’t appreciate her body’s reaction. What did he expect?

She thought. She had been beaten and kidnapped and threatened into a sexual contract. How could she not be scared of him and his men? “Come.” It sounded like an order and Ava followed it as she turned away from the window and

together they walked down the stairs. Instead of going through the door that led into the club, Zane led her to another

door.

They ended up in another ally, a black SUV stood waiting for them and Ava slowed down and felt a hint of panic washing

over her as he showed her towards it. A man that resembled a small mountain stood by the car and opened the back door

as they approached.

Ava really didn’t want to get into the SUV, the last time she got forced into one, she ended up here. “Get in,” Zane told

her, there was no room for disobeying judging by the tone of his voice.

“Boss,” the mountain greeted Zane as Ava got into the vehicle. There was a second man in the driver’s seat.

“Tom,” Zane greeted the mountain before getting in and taking his seat next to Ava.

“Boss,” the man in front said.

“Ryder,” Zane nodded.

“Everything good?” the man called Ryder asked.

“We should have no issues,” Zane said as he placed an arm around Ava. She jumped at the touch. Zane shot her a disapproving look. Ava took a moment to regret the fact she had never learnt to swear. She felt like this situation could have used a couple of good swear words. But she couldn’t really seem to use them even in her own mind.

As the car started and she once again found herself in a black SUV with gangsters, without knowing her destination, she

forced herself to relax her body. Fudge, fudge, fudge, she repeated in her head. Ava focused on the city passing by outside her window. She wondered if her aunt and uncle had got free from their restraints. She shouldn’t care. After all, it was her uncle that had put her in this mess. But they were her only family.

She realised they were heading for the outskirts of the city, to the hills surrounding the city in the east. They turned into a road that slowly snaked its way up a hill that was covered in a forest. There were no houses or signs of human activity. At the top of the hill, there was a high wall with barbed wire on top. A black iron gate barred the road. From a booth, a man dressed in all black carrying a big gun came up to the car.

Boss, the man nodded as he spotted Zane through the driver’s window. Zane nodded back.

The man left and the gate opened to let them drive through. Inside the wall, the wilderness turned into a lush garden with a long driveway.

At the end of the driveway stood a mansion, unlike anything Ava had seen. It was made up of white cube sections that fit together to form a stunning mansion with huge windows and dark wood details. The car stopped at the entrance and Tom opened the door for Zane to get out. Zane reached out a hand for Ava. She didn’t object and put her slightly shaking hand in his and let him help her out of the car. Zane put his hand on her back and Ava praised herself for not jumping at the touch.

He led her inside where an older woman stood. The woman looked stern and gave Ava a disapproving look. I hate it just as much as you do, Ava thought.

“Anna, this is miss Cobler, she will be staying with us for a while,” Zane said.

“Yes master Velky,” the woman said.

“Angel, this is Anna. She is the housekeeper and handles most things related to the house and garden. If you need something, let her know,” Zane told Ava.

“Nice to meet you,” Ava said to the woman and gave her a weak smile.

“Miss Cobler,” the woman nodded.

“Please, call me Ava,” Ava insisted. A small smile played on Anna’s face as she nodded.

“Should I ask the chef to prepare some food?” Anna asked.

“No, we will be in the office,” Zane told her as he led Ava deeper into the mansion. “The bottom floor is open to all family members, that includes you. There is a kitchen with a kitchen staff who will prepare what you like. You will be expected to eat your meals with me when I ask. Otherwise, you are free to eat what you please,” Zane started telling Ava. “There’s a gym, a swimming pool both inside and outside, a library, a movie room and a gaming room. Feel free to use them as you want when I don’t have any use for you. The men will not bother you. There will be women around, if they bother you, let me know. The second floor is guestrooms and rooms for some of the family.

Jax has his own house in the north part of the property, in the south part there are some smaller buildings for other family members,he continued as they walked up the stairs.

“Jax, is he your brother?” Ava couldn’t help herself but ask.

“All men here are my brothers. But I have no blood brother. Jax is the closest thing to it, he is my right–hand man. You

met him earlier.”

“Ah, the blond god,” she nodded before she realised what she said. “Sorry, my brain–to–mouth filter seems to be malfunctioning,” she quickly said when she saw Zane’s irritated look. He just shook his head.

“The third floor is mine. No one is allowed up here unless I give my permission,” Zane said as they got to the third floor. “My bedroom is through that door,” he said indicating a door in the middle of the corridor. “Your bedroom will be this

one,” he said, pointing to the door closest to his bedroom.

“I will be sleeping on this floor?” she asked.

“Of course, I told you I want you close by at all times. But you are only allowed in your room. If I call for you, you may

enter the other rooms, but I won’t have you snooping around. Is that clear?” he asked in a stern voice.

“Yes,” Ava nodded.

“Good. Now let’s go to my office, my lawyer has sent the contract and NDA to my mail. Sit,” he told Ava as they walked

into his home office. The room was more understated than his office at the club. But with its dark woods and creme

colours with a large window showing the front of the house, it still oozed masculinity. Ava was sitting in a visitor’s chair in front of his desk as he turned on his computer and soon a printer started making noise.

Zane gathered up all the papers as they were done printing and handed them to Ava. “Read.” So she did.

The contract outlined the things they already discussed. The only surprise was that Zane was obligated to give her a credit card to be used for her monthly expenses and he would provide her with two bodyguards when she left the residence. The last part made Ava realise that she hadn’t thought about the inherent danger of being associated with a mafia boss. Too late now, she thought. The NDA was standard. She agreed to not tell anyone about the information she would gain about the Velky family business or about Zane. When she had read through it all she looked up at Zane.

“Anything you want to change or feel you can’t agree to?” he asked.

“No, you have stuck to what we discussed,” she admitted. He handed her a pen. This was it, if Ava signed, she would be giving up her life for three years to this man. This man she knew nothing about except what he had told her. And by going by what he said, he wasn’t a good man. She took a deep breath and tried to force her hand to steady as she placed her initials on each page and then signed the contract and the NDA, both copies.

Zane was sitting and watching her on the edge of his desk. When she was done, he took the pen and did the same thing. When he was done, they had two piles of papers, one for each of them. Ava stared at the piles. “Now what?” she asked,

“Now,” Zane smirked and stood up and dragged her to her feet, straight into his chest. Ava was by no means a short woman, but she felt dwarfed by Zane as he loomed over her. His one hand grabbed her waist to keep her in place, and his other hand took hold of her nape. Before Ava could react or object, Zane had bent down and claimed her mouth.

The kiss was hard, demanding and forceful. Everything Ava thought she would hate. But instead, it sent a rush of pleasure through her. It wasn’t Ava’s first kiss, she may be a virgin, but she did have some experience in dating men. But it was the first time a kiss had made her legs go weak and her nipples grow hard as diamonds.
