Angel: A City of Lost Angels Story

Chapter 30: Missing

Daishkan’s POV

No Yard break-ins. No taunting howls outside the gate. No poisoned steaks thrown over the fence. It was like all the puppers had gone on holiday! Good riddance to the flea-bags! Maybe they had finally learned who the REAL city alpha was, yeah!

Okay, maybe that was a bit of a stretch to think, but it wouldn’t stop Daishkan from strutting around like it was true!

The reduction in threats had only one downside, and that was that the Yard Guards were humping around a lot more than they were patrolling. What’s that Featherbutt saying? Idle hands are the Devil’s playthingys? Daishkan felt a little lazier than usual himself too, not up to the normal gangbangs and frolicking. Hm, he needed to change that! Maybe sisters Ginny and Asha would share his cot tonight?

He lifted green eyes to the sky to see the setting sun colours. Pretty! Another quiet day coming to a close. He headed for the gate to do the normal returning cat headcount. He really needed to get some sort of unmanned tracker. He’d call it a… Punch-Paw System? Paw In/Paw Out Tracker? Fluff it, even his creative name generator was lazy too!

A pair of Yard Guards bounded to thoughtful Dai enroute. The red hair of kitten Lindsay was a disheveled mess, giving away that she was probably on or under the other guard’s hips only a moment ago. “Dai! There’s a Hunkasaurus Rex at the gate for you!” He eyed her tongue ring with fond memories.

“Hm. A hungry dino? A horny raptor?”

The male Danny answered. “More like a Grumpysaurus. With nice hair!”

Dai laughed and nodded. “Righty, I’m on it!” He jogged himself to the gate and quickly spotted the pacing Choir singer. Cracking the gate open enough for himself to shimmy through, he joined the shadow. “My, my! To what do I owe this visit from King Featherbutt the Third himself?”

Castiel snorted. “Can it cat. I need to see Angel.”

Daishkan gave his best confused face. “Isn’t she supposed to be serving degenerates with you?”

Castiel shook his head far too many times. “She didn’t come to the bar today. Last I saw her was yesterday afternoon and she was coming here to talk to you.” He ran fingers through his blonde mop of hair and genuinely looked concerned. “Someone from Syndicate came looking for her this morning and have said it’s urgent. I’m also making up excuses for two irritable demons who won’t let up about where she is.” Dai narrowed his eyes at the divine dick. Castiel caught the glare and added “I’m, I’m worried about her Daishkan.”

Dai was worried too now! What the fluff did humans and demons want with her? He should really check in with her more often. He stared at the gate decorations thinking. Angel was always second or third out of the Yard in the mornings and always the last to come home, though Dai often missed comings and goings due to bossy busy-ness. He scratched his chest through a tattered shirt trying to recall if he’d even seen her yesterday either. No!

Despite the immediate urge to send all of Tribe out as a search party, he leaned casually back on the gate. “How’s abouts I give her a message for ya? Lemme guess. You’ve finally decided to try deviled eggs?” When Castiel just scowled, he added “Devil’s Food Cake then?” Dai mentally high-fived himself for the cute quip while under stress.

“I’m serious Daishkan. Send her to the bar in the morning please.”

Dai snorted this time. The heck did Castiel want with her so badly now too? Probably to lay her out nude and give her a divine blessing! To be fair, so did Dai, but she never warmed to him like that. “Yeah, well I’ll let her know you flew by and either her or I will see ya tomorrow.”

“Right. Helpful as always.” Castiel looked past Dai into the Yard as if he expected Angel’s face to appear over the fence. When it didn’t, he spread wings and kicked up dust everywhere with his departure. Dai admitted again to himself that he really didn’t like pretty Mr SkyDick.

Dai waited until he was out of sight to jump up and race to the Yard. He asked every face he saw if they had seen Angel’s. None had. Was everyone blind?! Too much sleepy sunbathing to open their eyes?! He checked all her normal perches, and sent cats throughout the junk yard to look in all the unusual spots too.

A meowed alert from the front gate made Dai rush to it, and it was bouncy-flouncy Yard Guard Kole saying he saw something yesterday.

“Daishy! Angel walked to the gate yesterday after lunch with that demon doggy in tow. He left and then she did too without coming in.”

“Left? Alone?! Which way did she go Kole?”

Kole thumbed over his shoulder west. Dai frowned deeply. There were only two factions not yet mentioned as looking for Angel today, but only the pale-faced fancypants were that way.

Balls!
