Chapter 4
It was the last whole day that the girls were spending away from their pack, and they planned to enjoy it all. The festivities started with them watching a scary movie marathon from the night before straight into the ween hours of the morning. Everyone was too scared to go to their respective bedrooms, much less to sleep, so getting wasted at 5 AM by a werewolf liquor called The Elixir was their next bet. There were many signs that one shouldn't take the liquor lightly, from the danger skull-shaped bottle to the big red danger sign slapped on the label. Maya insisted on a drinking game, that they all deserved it for missing out on Alpha McHottie. They all knew better than to listen to her, but they went ahead playing Kings and now Never Have I Ever.
"If I don't empty my bladder now, I'll be emptying it here," Maya said as she tried to stand up four-time unsuccessfully before opting to crawl to the bathroom. All the girls laughed uncontrollably at her misfortune.
"I don't know why we always listen to you. You think after the whole fire incident we would learn by now." Taylor said while she tried to take another shot but missed her mouth completely.
"Please, you guys love my ideas, or you wouldn't do them with me," she said while crawling all the way to the bathroom.
All agreed that even though they always seemed to get in trouble with both their alpha and parents, especially Carmeta's dad, they always had fun and some amazing memories to go with it. Through their laughter of recalling the memories of the fire incident that almost burned down their pack house, the house phone rang. All the girls looked at one another, mentally deciding who would be the misfortune one to drag themselves to the kitchen to answer the phone. "Not it" they all shouted simultaneously, but Carmeta was too slow.
"Damn it!" Carmeta cursed as she fought her way up with the help of the armchair next to her and walked awkwardly to the phone.
She looked ridiculous, as her entire body seemed to tilt to the left. The entire room seemed to be upside down to her. Not only that, but her wolf also seemed to enjoy herself as if she was on a euphoric high without a care in the world. She grabbed the phone on the fifth ring, just in time before the person on the other end hung up. The party for the other girls did not stop as they continued to play their drinking game with lots of drunken shouts and cheers. Carmeta leaned against the kitchen island and closed her eyes, trying to get relief from the spinning room. She said hello, then snapped her eyes opening thinking that it was probably her dad calling for the day. The man was relentless in his endeavors of her still being alive and behaving herself, especially with Maya. Like the lecture he gave them all before they came, about them being in a new territory wasn't enough. They weren't idiots. They didn't want to get killed at the hands of another alpha and bring shame to their pack. Besides, if her brothers or father didn't kill her, her mother surely would. A smoking deep voice came drifting from the phone. She moved it from her ears and looked at it, hoping to see the face that belonged to that voice. It was not her father or any of her brothers, and it certainly didn't belong to anyone she knew.
How delicious!
Monday morning came drifting swiftly as the girls placed the last of their bags in the trunk of their car. It was not a good day to be out of bed, much less to be up so early but they had to get back to their pack before noon. Carmeta stifled a yawn as she dragged herself to the car door. The morning's light struck her in the eye, and she squinted to escape its torturous glare. Slipping on her shades, the day before flashback came to her. It all started with a scary movie marathon then multiple drinking games that ended with them ordering food and trying not to throw up. It was 11:00 PM before they were all knocked out from exhaustion, overeating, and drunkenness. What made the situation more unbearable was the fact that they all had to get up at 5:30 this morning in order to make it back to their pack before her 12-noon curfew.
"This is the highest degree of torture out there!" Taylor moaned in displeasure as she dragged herself across the back seat of the car with her shades on, a scarf over her hair, and a wide rim hat that blocked all the morning's light rays from her face.
"This is completely unfair that your dad or brothers can't allow you to come back in the evening. I not only need sleep but medication for this monster of a hangover I have. Just moving is causing my stomach to threaten to spill its contents."
"I rather experience this bitch of a hangover than her brothers and dad..." Melody said as she literally dragged herself into the back seat, pulling her sister along.
"Exactly so they said noon, we'll make sure we reach before that. I don't think I can handle another lecture and punishment." Harmony said.
"I know right? I can't handle doing all the Omega's duties, work plus enforcer training. Last time I almost passed out from exhaustion, and they had no mercy, working us to the bone for two weeks." Carmeta said when she stuck her head through the car door.
"We did earn that punishment though," Taylor said then they all laughed which ended in groans as their heads throbbed.
"Where is Maya?"
"Doing her makeup" Melody said while rolling her eyes.
Carmeta slipped into the front seat of the car and closed the door then pressed the car horn. She really wanted to make it home before noon. She couldn't afford to push her luck and she wanted to show her dad that she was responsible and respected his choices, even though they were sometimes ludacris.
"I'm coming. No need to get your panties in a bunch ladies." Maya came strutting through the front door and headed to the driver's side of the car. Unlike the other girls, she looked perfectly well rested with her hair curled, makeup was on point and her sun dress showing off her well-toned legs.
"Why do you look like the gods' favorite child, and we look like something the cat dragged in?"
"My gosh yall look dreadful," she said as she gave each girl a once over. "You guys are acting like we had a drinking marathon."
"We, including you, could barely function after all that alcohol we drank, not to mention the lack of adequate sleep."
"Oh, that was sooo a couple of hours ago. I'm used to this lifestyle love. This is child's play compared to my usual benders."
"Right, I forgot about those..." Taylor said as they pulled out of the driveway to head back to their pack.
After many unplanned stops of throwing up, using the bathroom, and eating at almost every restaurant they came across, they finally made it back to Carmeta's house with two minutes to spare. All of Carmeta's brothers plus her father stood lined off by the driveway with their hands folded across their chest and each with their own unique displeased scolds on their face as all the girls piled out of the car looking refreshed as if they had never experienced a hangover before. Greeting her father with minty fresh breath and a cheerful attitude, Carmeta planted a big sloppy kiss on his cheeks.
"Daddy, is it me or did you get chubbier since I've been gone?"
"Very funny Car" he greeted her before heading off towards the car truck with her brothers.
"Thank you for my fun birthday weekend. I will forever cherish it" she replied with a smile.
"You're late you know," one of her brothers said in his passing.
"Nope. We had two minutes to spare Jumbo" Maya said cheerfully as she skipped towards the house.
All the girls entered Carmeta's house after Maya and headed straight into the kitchen where they knew Carmeta's mother, Sue was probably cooking or baking something delicious.
"I see you ladies are back and you all look well rested. What all did you do?"
"A little of this and a little of that," Taylor replied.
"Is that so? I wonder what you call a little of this and that?"
"You know Mrs. A when I'm involved it's an adventure," Maya said while she grabbed a freshly baked cookie from the cooling rack.
Sue chuckled, knowing good well all of Maya's adventurous activities through the years. Most were practically harmless and were funny but the best part about it was that it kept her mate and the enforcers on their toes at all times. One would think that they would calm down once they became working adults but no, they were just as wild as in their youths. The weekend that they were gone was heavenly to the enforcers but not to her mate, sons, and the Alpha. They were praying that the girls behave long enough to come home, and lucky they did. Sue had a hard time keeping her mate from going after the girls just to monitor them, not that she was complaining, she had fun trying to keep his mind on other things.
"My beautiful mother, I don't know how I will ever repay you for what you did but this weekend was absolutely fun." Carmeta greeted her mother with a kiss on her cheeks and a huge hug.
"Lucky for you that dad is a sucker for his mate, or you wouldn't have moved an inch from this pack for your birthday," one of her brothers said as he entered the kitchen.
"Keep talking like that and you might not get any dinner for a week."
"I'm just sorry for whatever mates get stuck with you booger faces," Carmeta replied, and all her friends laughed knowingly.
"They'll be just like their father, a big marshmallow for sure, total pushovers."
"And proud..." Carmeta's dad came strolling in.
"Yes honey" she replied with a kiss. "I bet you guys are hungry, the lasagna is ready, just drab a plate and some utensils. Car, Stephanie called and said that you can take tomorrow off because you might be exhausted."
"I could kiss that sweet woman"
"Now that is what I would love to see," Maya said.
