Chapter 23
Surprises Keep Coming
The following day came with a loud knock on the door that could wake the dead. Ramiel was unhappy and put some shorts on, walking to the pounding door and opening it abruptly. A driver left a few boxes and paper for which he had to sign.
He thanked the female driver as she gawked at him without a shirt. He looked down, then back up and laughed, shaking his head and raising his left hand with a brown and white band on his finger. She quickly turned and walked away with a scowl on her face.
He yelled for Lane to come into the living room, and when she saw what was delivered, she about had the triplets.
“What the Sam hill is all this?”
“Yours baby, from Colin, of course. I will bring them in. You sit over there and read these papers.”
She did as she was told and could not believe that there was a letter written to her from him. She felt disgusted by touching the papers and then having to read them. That was putrid. She did not know how she was not gaging at the sights or smell of that asshole.
’Lane, I am deeply sorry for everything I did to you while dating. I did not know how to have an actual relationship with a person, and the only way for me was to give them alcohol laced with potent drugs so they did not know what happened.
’I wish I could make it up to you, but I know it is prohibited. I did care for you in a way but never felt worthy of how I treated you. I wish I never did any of those things, and if I could go back and redo it all over again, I would do it differently.
That said, I left you all my money and a few belongings. What you do with it is up to you and your husband, assuming you have one. I hope you find yourself forever. I never did.
Lane, if you are reading this, I have passed away from this life and have gone to hell, where I belong. I have a secret that I want to share with you, and I feel like I can do that now that I have passed.
I am one of many supernatural beings, a red dragon. My family disowned me for what I had done with my life, and after I met you, I tried to redeem myself but failed. My wife never knew who I was. At least, I do not think she did or does. We do not have kids together, as she cheated on me every turn she made. Of course, they were all human, so I could not take their lives like your husband can.
I will have my attorney send you everything that now belongs to you. Ultimately, you were all I had; I had nothing left. Again, I am sorry for doing all those things to you. I love you in a weird, peculiar way I could never show you. Maybe that is why I cared for you while we were sober.′
Love always and forever,
Colin Wessly Nindun,
The Dragon Lord
“Holy shit, that was a lot to take in.”
“Yeah, it sure was a lot. A fucking dragon? Really? They exist?”
“Yes, they do exist, and most of them are incredibly good, and we call them if we need help, but we all like to keep to ourselves. How about the Will? What does that say?”
They read over the Will sent to her; everything was as he said. Nothing was mentioned about his wife or kids, except they were not allowed to contest this nor obtain an attorney to void the Will and force it into her hands.
They opened the boxes, searching for contents that Lane could use in staging homes or even gifting them to new homeowners. She set those aside to be taken to her warehouse. A few of the other boxes had duffle bags wrapped in bubble wrap and packing peanuts thrown in for good measure.
They pulled them out and saw all the cash; there were hundreds of thousands of dollars with a note in each bag. Each bag held twenty-five million dollars. Ten boxes, ten loads totaling 250 million dollars. Lane was shocked, and so was Ramiel at what they had.
They did not need the money, but it was enough to put the kids and their family’s kids to college, which is what they would do. They were going to put it to good use for their pack family.
There was not a dry eye in their house. Both had tears in their eyes, and she felt sorry for Colin as she never knew the real him; he never opened up to her, nor did he reveal who he indeed was. He was a shifter like her, but he never would have the life he was meant to have due to his choices.
Ramiel quickly put the money in his safe so nobody would come looking for it. It was not going into their office since that would be the first place to look.
Lane was delivering her three cubs in the hospital a few weeks later. They were all beautiful, and the girls were identical, but they agreed they would not dress them in the same style. They would go on about their personalities as they got older.
They named the girls Autumn Tigerlily and Lake CeCe; their brother’s name is Everest Gray. They each had a part of their grandparents’ names with them, which made her and Ramiel happy, and he was honored.
The kids were brought home to their new nursery. They were alert; all three had bright blue eyes for now. They could not wait to see if they would keep them or if they would change colors.
A couple of months later, Gabriel had their twin boys, and Lane decorated their nursery in blue, grey, and with polar bear pictures. She also adorned some images of angels and her family photos so they would know who both of their grandparents were.
Steven was over the moon with his sons and could not wait to train them to be the best warriors, trackers, and whatever their hearts desired. He and Gabriel took turns feeding the twins and having family time together.
It seemed like everyone was having babies in the pack. The families were putting additions to their homes to make more room. The older cubs and pups were of college age, and their entire education was paid for with Lane’s money she inherited from Colin.
