Chapter 67: Like A Stranger
"You need to ask Miss Townsley this question yourself. As her attending doctor, I told you everything I know." Michelle thought it
was for the best not to answer his question.
However, Patrick wouldn't let go of her so easily. He still had to get the first-hand information from the doctor, or else, his coming
here would be in vain.
"Dr.Mills, how is Miss Townsley doing now?" Michelle's reply was brief and simple but also a bit evasive.
She beat around the bush as best as she could.
The more they heard the woman talking, the more George and Nina admired her.
It was such a waste that Michelle hadn't become a spy instead of a doctor.
Upon realizing that he wouldn't get anything relevant out of her, Patrick finally walked away after asking a few more simple
questions.
The journalist believed there were still enough corruptible people in the world, so he planned to bribe a few nurses in exchange
for information.
As soon as he had the news he was looking for, he would get a promotion and a salary increase.
"Michelle, why didn't you tell that guy about Cali's pregnancy?"
Nina was confused.
Although it was Cali herself who agreed to grant Patrick an exclusive interview, every time the reporter addressed the pregnancy
rumors, Michelle dodged the question without hesitation.
"Cali might have agreed to this interview, but she never said whether we should talk about her pregnancy or not, did she?"
George inquired, leaving Nina even more confused.
In the end, she chose to ignore the matter.
"Michelle, you should make rounds and visit Cali's ward. After all, you're her attending doctor," George said as he handed her the
patient record.
Michelle nodded.
"Right, she must have woken up by now.I'll go and have a look. You two can get ready to be off duty once I come back."
Due to Cali's allergic reaction, Michelle's holiday ended in a total mess.
After being in the hospital for the whole afternoon, she still had to make one last visit to Cali's ward before getting off work.
The problem was that she really didn't want to see the actress at all.
Although this wasn't her first time at Cali's ward, Michelle was a little surprised as she came in.
All of sudden, it didn't seem that she had stepped into a ward, but in a garden.
The entire room was filled with all kinds of flowers, including roses, lilies, and even a few quite expensive orchids.
Seeing this, Michelle had to control the urge to laugh as she wondered if Cali knew a thing about flowers.
Either way, whoever sent her those orchids most definitely didn't.
Otherwise, how could someone deliver such precious orchids to a hospital ward?
"Miss Townsley, how are you feeling?"
Standing in front of Cali, Michelle forced a smile and deliberately ignored Gerard's presence in the room.
"I feel good now!"
Cali glanced at Gerard and then asked Michelle, "Did the reporter come to speak to you?"
There was a hint of interest in her tone.
Michelle nodded.
"He left just now."
"Did you tell him something?" she hurriedly asked, but there was no expectation in her eyes.
Michelle couldn't help feeling confused.
‘'Didn't Cali want me to tell Patrick that she was pregnant then? What kind of woman wouldn't like to show off if she is pregnant
with Gerard's child?'’
"No, I didn't say anything."
"Oh!"
Cali lay down expressionlessly. Her agent soon pulled the quilt to cover her and turned around, telling Michelle that the actress
was fine.
As she came out of the ward, Michelle realized that from the moment she got there until she left, she didn't spare a single look at
Gerard.
As for the man, he seemed to treat Michelle like a stranger again, contrary to his behavior in the office a few moments ago.
