Chapter 168
Chapter 168
No One’s POV.
“You know that we don’t feel the mate bond in the same way a werewolf can feel, Vincent, and that’s why, I can’t force Emily to accept you. She is an individual with her own thoughts and her own desires. I am sorry to say, but you have to reject her,” Queen Elizabeth said to Vincent in an apologetic tone.
“No way that I am going to reject her, Queen Elizabeth. If she doesn’t want to be with me, it’s okay. I respect her decision. But I will never reject her,” Vincent refused immediately in a stern tone.
“Do you want to make me live in guilt that someone is suffering because of me, huh?” Emily accused him in an accusing tone while trembling in anger. She was dumbfounded when Vincent told her that she was his mate. She knew how divine and serene a mate bond was, but she also knew how over–possessive a mate can be.
She wanted to have someone in her life who loved her unconditionally, but not like a werewolf. “I respect your decision, Emily. It would help if you respected mine. Not accepting me as your mate is your decision, and not accepting your rejection is my decision. I am not forcing for anything. So, you don’t force me either,” Vincent replied to him in a firm tone, making Emily grit her teeth.
Both Queen Elizabeth and Catherine looked at them with a helpless expression on their faces. After Martha and Warrick, Catherine didn’t want Vincent or any of those pups to feel orphaned. She was the mother to Crystal and Ivory by name only, but she wanted to present Vincent as a mother figure. She knew that she couldn’t take Martha’s place in their lives. She didn’t have any intention either.
“Emily… You know very well how important a mate is for a werewolf. Vincent comes from a lineage of pure–breed betas. His strength is equivalent to that of a high–rank alpha. I respect his decision, but request you to think about your decision only once. He is stubborn as hell, and if you go away from him, the distance between you two will only lead him towards his death,” Catherine explained the situation that Vincent didn’t tell Emily in a calm tone.
Vincent immediately looked at her annoyingly. “I know Vincent that you don’t want to force her, but we are your family… your brothers and your sisters need you. This is not only about you, but about them too,” Catherine said to Vincent in the same tone.
Vincent didn’t like Catherine’s interference in this matter, but he couldn’t retort what she said. Distance from Emily would indeed lead him towards his death, but keeping her beside him by force was not an option for you. He wanted her to accept him of her own will.
“I am thankful for your concern and worry for me, Queen Catherine. But.” He paused and looked at Emily once again. She was as stubborn as Vincent was. After sighing in defeat, Vincent lowered his head and walked out of the room. Catherine and Elizabeth felt sympathy for him while watching his dejected back.
Emily pouted and crossed her hands in front of her chest in annoyance. Why was he so stubborn?

She was a witch, and he was a beta werewolf. It was not like he wouldn’t find his second–chance mate after accepting her rejection. Why was he so hell–bent to be with her, then?
“Emily.” Catherine called Emily softly. Emily slowly moved her head towards her. They were about to go back to their kingdom, as they had finished their work here. “Do you know for how long Vincent’s brother, William, waited for her mate to wake up?” she asked Emily calmly.
Emily knew the story very well. William’s mate was on deathbed when he found her. He still did everything to keep her alive and waited almost two months for her to wake up. He almost died with her but didn’t give up on her. This was the effect of the mate bond.
Expily closed her eyes while cursing Vincent in her heart. She knew that mate bonds had little effect on other creatures, including humans. Other creatures can feel a strong attraction towards their mate, and she was no exception to this.
She couldn’t deny that she was also attracted to Vincent when she saw him for the first time when she came to the pack with Elizabeth. She was reluctant to accept him but she didn’t want him to put his life in danger like this. He was stubborn and domineering.
Catherine didn’t say anything to Emily again, as she didn’t want to go against Vincent’s wish. “I will talk to her,” Elizabeth comforted Catherine in a low tone. Elizabeth nodded to her and took a deep breath, helplessly.
“I am sorry, Martha…. I am nothing but a failure,” Catherine apologized to Martha in her heart. “Let’s go, Emily, we need to go back now,” Elizabeth instructed Emily in a calm tone. Emily pursed. her l*ps into a thin line while following Elizabeth and Catherine. Her heart was in a mess.
On the other side, Vincent didn’t go back to his home but ran towards the forest near the border. He was heartbroken and he didn’t want his family to see him in this state. Both he and his wolf, Vicky were crying silently,
Vincent was driving his bike while looking at the road with an absent mind. He knew that Emily would leave the pack in a few minutes, and he would lose her forever. He knew that she would not come back to him, but he had already accepted his fate.
No one in their family had rejected their mates. No matter who their mate was, they had accepted them wholeheartedly. From childhood, he was taught about how divine the mate bond is and why shouldn’t one reject his or her mate. This was his upbringing and he didn’t want to reject Emily.
He knew the pain of rejection. Although, Crystal stood strong in front of them after Adam’s rejection, but he felt her pain. Adam’s rejection was the first case of rejection in their pack. Vincent grew up with the belief that the Moon Goddess never makes a mistake in pairing mates.
makes a mistake in pairing mate
He didn’t know what he did wrong that his mate didn’t want him. He didn’t care if she was a werewolf or not. The Moon Goddess chose her for him. How could she not want him? He stopped the bike near the post and closed his eyes. He was fortunate that there was no patroller there.
He parked the bike and took a deep breath before starting to run to the path to prepare for the run inside the forest. The coldness of the breeze couldn’t comfort his heart. He knew that tears were

still rolling down his cheeks, but he didn’t care to wipe them. He stopped in the middle of the forest, near a thick tree.
“AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” he screamed in pain and agony while looking towards the sky as if he were complaining to the Moon Goddess. Within three days, he lost his parents, and now hist mate is also going to abandon him. He screamed a few times, letting out all his pain, and fell to the ground on his knees.
He punched the ground like a madman while crying hard. He lost his parents, his biggest support…. He still had William and Crystal, but they were dealing with so many things at one time that he didn’t want them to be worried for him. He also had Killian, but he was not close to Killian. Adam. was also in a mess because of Ivory. He knew that William and Crystal would scold him later for suffering alone, but right now….
He didn’t want anyone to comfort him…..
He wanted his mate…. He wanted his Emily with him…
He knew that it was only his wishful thinking. He screamed aloud while punching the ground. Soon, the ground was painted with the blood seeping through his wounds on his knuckles. He was immune to his pain now. Vicky also didn’t try to heal his wounds. His grief was even fueling Vincent’s grief.
“Aaaahhhhh. He continued screaming while punching the floor for a good few minutes. His whole fists were now injured, and blood was flowing out of them continuously. “Are you crazy? What are you doing?” He stopped and almost fell on his butts in shock when he heard her screaming at him.
He looked in her direction with his blurry vision. The next second, he felt a sharp pain in his cheek when she slapped him hard. “Did it hurt? Tell me…. Did it hurt?” she screamed at him while pulling him slightly up by grabbing his collar.
He was still in a daze. He thought that he was hallucinating, but the sparks that he felt when she grabbed him were real. She was really in front of him. Emily was infuriated to death by his silence, and she slapped him again. She winced in pain because of the hit, but it fueled her anger.
She was about to leave with her mother when she decided to talk to him one last time and tried to persuade him to reject her. So, she located his location and teleported herself there only to witness his madness. The whole ground beside him was covered with his blood.
He was blinking hard to clear his eyes while still looking at her daze. She was so angry that she wanted to beat him to death for hurting himself like this, but she couldn’t endure more pain. She looked around while holding him by his collar and found a thick stick lying on the ground at a distance.
She threw him on the ground and went to pick up that stick. Vincent immediately wiped his eyes. and his eyes immediately lit up when he saw her clearly. “She came back, Vicky chirped at the back of his mind while wagging his tail.
Vincent frowned when he saw her storming towards him with an angry expression on her face.

Before he could stand up, he hissed in pain when she struck him on the shoulder with the stick. “Ouch… what are you doing?” he immediately complained while staggering at the ground, trying to go away from her.
“What am I doing? Wh
am I doing?” Emily screamed again and continued hitting him all over his b*dy with the stick. Vincent was dumbfounded by what was happening between them, but he still tried to go away. What would the others think about him if they learned that his mate beat him with a stick?
It would be so embarrassing. “Emily… my… my love… why…. Ouch… why are you beating me?” He tried to ask her in a calm tone, but hissed once again in pain when she hit him hard on his arm. She was just a witch with the physical strength of a human, but right now it seemed that someone had possessed her.
“You want to hurt yourself, right? Then I am fulfilling your wish,” she answered him, still screaming in anger at the top of her lungs. Vincent didn’t know whether to laugh or cry right now. He only hurt himself to ease the pain of rejection, but he didn’t know that she would follow him here. He was glad that they were inside the forest where no one could see them, or else he would have lost. his face.
He endured her beating for the next two minutes, but couldn’t endure much. He had been in so many battles ever since he crossed the age of fourteen and had trained hard, but this beating was something else. He wasn’t afraid of the physical pain, but he didn’t know why he was in so much pain right now.
He grunted and tried to grab Emily’s hand, but she moved the stick like a sword, ending up hitting his palms mercilessly. He winced in pain while looking at her in disbelief, but it infuriated her more. He couldn’t do anything but endure the pain until she calmed down.
