Chapter 164 

Crystal’s POV. 

I couldn’t control my tears….. not even for a second, and saw them burying my parents together. It was William who told us that Mom once wished to be buried with Dad if they died together. We decided to fulfil their wishes, but I was still not ready to bid farewell to them. 

“They are together in their afterlife too, love… They didn’t die in vain and were happy as they fulfilled all their duties. Vincent also found his mate. So, they didn’t have any regrets. Don’t cry…. don’t cry so much… don’t make them sad… they are still looking at us from above,” Theo comforted me in a gentle tone, but my heart was not at ease. 

He was still holding me tightly into his embrace. Ivory was also there, but she was with Adam now. I knew that she still wasn’t comfortable with him, but her attention was on the funeral too. She didn’t know these things, but she still understood that we wouldn’t be able to see them again. 

She was also crying while sitting on the ground. She woke up a while ago and wasn’t in a good shape to stand up. She refused to let Adam hold her. Adam and Nelson were standing near to her but didn’t approach her. 

William was now standing with Victoria. We told her about how we were connected to each other, and what our parents did to save everyone. William was also holding her in his embrace as she was still recuperating. She didn’t have tears in her eyes but she was sad. Ivory and Victoria were victims of abuse by both Marcus and Ruben. I didn’t know how many other people died and suffered by their hands. 

“Go to her, my love… she needs her sister right now,” Theo whispered to me in a gentle tone. To be honest, I couldn’t do a thing without Theo. He has been my strongest supporter since the beginning of our relationship as cousins. 

Due to my temperament, I always thought that it would be difficult for me to have a harmonious and loving relationship with my mate, but Theo was the best. He loved me unconditionally, gave me support by staying beside me, never suppressed me, and never stopped me from doing whatever I wanted to do. He always covered my mistakes but never complained to me for being irresponsible sometimes. 

“Let’s go to her,” he continued, and I slowly nodded to him while moving my gaze towards Ivory. They were now levelling the grave. He slowly released me from his embrace and took my hand. We both walked towards Ivory and I squatted down near her. “Crystal… They… they buried them,” she said to me in a choked tone. 

I sighed and took her into my embrace. She immediately wrapped her hands around my torso while putting her head on my upper chest. She was trembling hard. “When someone dies, this is a ritual to bury them, Ivory. You saw that we all prayed for them. This is the part of this ritual called the funeral. We…. we humans believe th.. that af… after we bury them….. their soul goes back to the Moon Goddess,” I told her about the funeral once again in a choked tone.

Death… funeral… these terms were new to her as she never had contact with the outer world. “Tho… those wolves… th.. they wanted to kill me too?” she asked me in a trembling and choked tone. 

I tightened my grip on her b*dy. “Yeah… they wanted to…. But our brothers and their warriors saved you,” I replied to her in the same cracked but firm tone. She sniffed harder this time. “We…. we won’t see them again, right?” she asked me in the same sad tone. I choked once again and didn’t answer her. 

In front of us, they finished the ritual, and everyone started going back. “We have to go back now. We will come again tomorrow to pay our respect to them again,” I said to her in a gentle tone. 

“Let’s stay for a while, Crystal… I…. still want to stay a while,” she requested me and I closed my eyes. “Okay,” I replied to her after some time in a calm tone this time. I sat down on the ground in a comfortable position, holding her in my embrace. Adam and Theo were still standing at a distance from us. 

William looked at me, and I signaled for him to go back with Victoria. She shouldn’t stay out of bed for long right now. She still needed to rest properly. He looked at me helplessly but nodded to me in agreement later. Vincent’s mate was also here but she was still standing with Queen Elizabeth and other witches. 

Vincent stayed behind, and I watched him look at his mate’s back with longing in his eyes as she went back with her team. I decided to talk with Emily later. She was a cheerful girl and was very understanding. I knew that she would understand how important she was for Vincent 

“Sis. Ivory called me softly after some time. I hummed in response while moving my gaze back to my parents‘ grave. “What is a mate?” she asked me in the same tone, making me narrow my eyes in 

confusion. 

“Everyone said that our parents were mates an… and they are still together in… in the afterlife… what is mate?” She asked me again while explaining why did she ask. I took a deep breath, still having my gaze on their grave, with a weak smile this time. 

“Uhhh… you can say that there are three types of bonds in humans… first… parent–child bond…. which connects a child with his or her parents… just like we have two sets of parents,” I explained to her in a soft tone. 

“Queen Elizabeth and Nelson are our biological parents who gave birth to us….. But Martha and Warrick were the ones who… who raised me.” I paused and took a deep breath, I didn’t know how to explain to her again why Martha and Warrick didn’t find her. 

“I already know, sis… I… I don’t blame them fo.. for what happened to me,” she comforted me in a soft tone once again. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Just like me… she also had some special abilities, and one of them was to go through the memories of any person… didn’t matter if he was living or dead.

Her eyes were now filled with curiosity. I smiled and k*ssed her forehead. She looked more like Killian than me. 

“He is our biological half–brother. He will be here tonight. He is our king too.” I gave Killian’s introduction to her. She frowned while looking at me with confusion. “The third bond is the mate bond… a mate is the person who is considered as our life partner, the next half of our soul…. The Moon Goddess pairs two wolves together, and they are destined to be together until their last breaths. They love each other unconditionally and take care of each other,” I explained to her about the mate bond, but couldn’t tell her about the intimacy part.

I didn’t know when I fell asleep but when I woke up again, I was in my room in our house. It was already dark outside as the lights of the room were on now. I looked around and found myself alone in the room. I felt refreshed as I slept well and it was a dreamless sleep.
