Alpha's love

Chapter Coming Alive

They moved Marcus into the hospital wing, his wolf form still warm as Aria lay on the bed resting her head on his warm fur. Eve and Blake stood nearby watching Aria wearily as she sobbed into his fur. Eve approached her after nearly an hour touching her shoulder,

"Alpha, we can't leave you here. We....we're afraid you might try to kill yourself." Aria didn't respond, only stood numbly and stumbled outside to where both of their packs had gathered in a circle. Blake and Eve seemed attached at the hip, his hand resting on her shoulder and a sharp pain snaked through Aria as she saw them together. It dawned on her that Eve had turned 18 only a few days ago and that they must be mates. At the realization of this another wave of sadness crashed over her as she forced herself to turn away from the pair. They deserve to be happy, even if I will never get that myself, she reminded herself sternly as she tried to push the thought of Marcus away. She couldn't bring herself to be strong at this moment, as much as she needed to and Eve seemed to sense this because she stepped forward past aria and ordered the pack away. A few growled and looked reluctantly at Aria and past her towards where Marcus lay and Aria let out a soft growl, encouraging them to leave.

The pack had just begun to disperse when unknown wolves appeared from the trees, their growls echoing throughout the yard as their bellies brushed the grass beneath them. Aria's eyes narrowed as she realized that they were rouges on HER property, and they were the reason that her mate was dead. Both of the packs moved as one as those who had been in human form shifted immediately, forming a long line of warriors who faced the trespassing rouges with loud snarls. Aria tried to summon Milean forward, only to be met with a long sorrowful howl followed by a snarl. She wouldn't shift, not while her mate was this freshly dead, instead she slunk back into Aria's mind leaving Aria to look around frantically for Eve.

"EVE! I can't shift, Milean won't let me, she's mourning!" Eve who was in wolf form moving towards the line of wolves that were standing at the ready to fight the approaching rouges let out a short howl communicating to Aria to stay back and let them handle the rouges. Aria cursed in her head as the rouges launched themselves at her pack and Marcus's and the sound of claws and teeth filled the air. Aria did the only thing she could think of and grabbed a discarded baseball bat that some of the children had been playing with earlier off the ground nearby. Hefting it over her shoulder she stood near the porch, eyes searching for any threats that might hurt her dead mate.

Her internal fight with Milean, trying to coax, yell, and force her wolf to come forward distracted her momentarily and a skinny gray wolf approached her with a snarl. Aria glowered at him, hefting the bat as she thought of how her mate was dead because of these wolves. She knew that she was no match for a wolf in human form, but she was an alpha and she was damn well not going down without a fight. She waited as the gray wolf prowled closer, his head lowered as he watched her, before he darted at her his jaws snapping. She swung the bat at him nicking him in the snout before she turned and ran into the hospital bed searching for a tranquilizer gun. She ducked behind a cot as the wolf bounded into the room, sniffing the air for her scent. He let out a growl as he caught it, stalking towards her hiding place. She held the bat with two hands, as she crouched behind the bed pressed against the wall. The wolf moved closer and Aria moved quick as lighting throwing the cot at the wolf before darting towards the cupboards that she hoped held the tranq guns, trying to ignore her mates body that lay at the end of the room. She broke the glass to the doors of the cupboard open with her bat, not wanting to waste time with the lock they had installed on the doors after pups had gotten into the chemicals, and spotted one of the jars of liquid that held the chemicals needed to put a wolf to sleep. She hoped that her plan would work because she had no other choice as the wolf snarled at her, his paws scrabbling as he tried to gain purchase on the slick linoleum to run at her. She opened the jar of liquid and dipped the end of her bat in it before pointing it at the gray wolf who was only a few feet from her,

"Come and get me you asshole," she screamed at the wolf as he flung himsef through the air towards her, his jaws opened wide. He knocked the bat from her slick hands and she watched in horror as it skittered across the floor. The wolf swiped at her and she recoiled backwards hitting her head on the edge of the cupboard as she ducked down trying to avoid his dirty claws.

He shifted, surprising Aria as his hands grasped at her throat in an instant, his lips pulling back into a wide smile as hands pressed tighter. Black spots danced in her vision as she struggled to overthrow the huge man, who only laughed at her struggled slamming her head into the cupboard. Aria looked over at her dead mate on the table behind her and felt a small sense of relief fall over her, she would be with her mate. The rouge slammed her head into the cupboard again this time, stilling her thrashing as his hold on her throat increased, a darkness slipping over her. She reached for a piece of glass on the floor nearby, her fingers stretching to reach it and the rouge followed her movements. He snatched the glass out of her reach and smiling down at her he plunged it into the side of her stomach. She tried to scream to no avail as the pressure on her neck became to much and she began to slip into darkness. Just as she was about to pass out a growl that made her ears pop filled her head and the rouge was torn off her as a blurred figure tackled him to the ground. She gasped for air, her vision blurry as she made out the mysterious man pummeling the rouge in the face with this fits, red covering the rouges face as he lay limp under the man. Then the man took the rouges neck and twisted hard, dropping it as he heard a satisfying CRACK and turned to aria. Then, she was slipping away, the puddle of blood around her growing and the pull of darkness to much. She heard a familiar voice and hands touching her, his scent enveloping her and Milean going ecstatic calling out words she could barely understand but just before she slipped away she heard one word that filled her heart with joy, MATE.
