Alpha's Little Vampire Mate

Chapter 70

Narrator's POV: Dracula's cave: "Grandfather!"

Angelo rushed after Jason, begging that he calmed down and not rush into doing anything rash and stupid. Jason shoved his brother aside, marching forward and shoving anything or anyone that got in his way. "Come out here dracula," he yelled. "Where the hell are you?!"

Angelo shook his head in disappointment, going close enough to whisper over the noise. "Don't do what you will regret J, think about mother." That was his final warning, before he turned around to leave. He stopped, turning back around, just as he heard the door to the throne room open.

Dracula stepped out, the permanent frown on his lips. He looked from a calm Angelo and over to a glaring Jason, then decided to throw the question in the air without asking anyone in particular. "What is the fuss about?"

Angelo stood with batted breath, hoping that after what he had told his brother, that Jason wouldn't slip off and spill the beans. If he had known that Jason would react the way he did, he would have kept that little piece of information to himself a little longer.

Earlier at Marcus's place: he had told Jason all Chloe had told him and Jason had blown up, his vexation even taking Angelo by surprise. Without much of an argument, he had teleported back home and Angelo was was wise enough to follow him.

"Nothing," Jason replied, after having an internal battle within himself. Not wanting to be in dracula's presence any longer, he turned around and started to walk out, his brother following behind him.

He didn't go to his room, rather, he walked back towards the entrance of the cave. Angelo kept following, suspecting that Jason was already heading back to Chloe's place.

They were shocked when they got there and the gates have been locked. He look at the two vampires standing guard at the door and before he could ask why they were being restricted, Dracula appeared in front of them.

"I couldn't let you run off to that baby sister of yours now, could I?" He gave an evil cackle, when he saw the shocked looks on their faces. "Wbat? You both look so surprised, do you think I don't know? I know the bond you all share and no matter how hard you try to hide it and pretend, I can still feel it." He gestured for more guards to come seize his grandsons. "Let's see how you both will protect your baby sister from me now..."

"Don't you dare touch her!"

"Leave Chloe out of this!"

They both roared simultaneously, struggling against the hold the guards had on them.

"Ha ha ha," Dracula laughed, but not a single muscle in his face twitched. "I will only let you both go on one condition..." he paused, looking between them. "Stop meddling in my affairs with Chloe, stay out of it!"

"Screw you," Jason hissed, his fangs shooting out as he tried to rush towards Dracula. "I can't let you take my sister after taking my mother!" "Your mother, is my daughter!"

"But you murdered her in cold blood!" Angelo yelled, the muscles in his neck began to strain. "You've kill your own daughter, leave my sister alone!"

Dracula clapped, throwing his head back as he laughed evilly. His eyes fell back on them. "Wasn't that an outstanding performance? I was almost moved to tears." His face straightened, returning to the usual dark look that always took over his face. "Your mother would have been so proud of you boys but unfortunately, she is not here eh? Do you know why?"

"Because you killed her," Jason growled.

Dracula hit his tongue against his teeth, wagging a finger up at Jason's face. "No no, I did no such thing. You both saw it wrong, because I didn't kill her... she killed herself." Silence.

More silence.

A little bit more of silence.

"What?" Angelo asked with a look of shock on his face. "What did you just say?"

He gave him a straight look. "Oh... you didn't know that?" He asked. Then he sighed dramatically, acting like was trying to remember what had happened exactly when actually, he really forgot anything. "Well... after that silly wolf of hers was killed, I asked that we returned back home but she denied me, saying that she couldn't imagine a life without Tristan and that she would die with him, but she promised that her children will see to my death. She also said she was better dead than being stuck with a father like me, how could I ever forgive such a child?"

The two brothers trembled, their bodies shaking with emotions as tears made way to their eyes. In that moment, they detested their mother the most of taking her life, but also missed her all the more.

"Now I see that I would have been making a mistake if I had let her take you both along with her." He should have seen the confusion on their faces. "She wanted to take you guys with her, saying that the coven wasn't were she wanted you to be but I refused, and told you both that she had abandoned you. While Jason believed me and hated his mother, Angelo still seeked her out and all along, they thought I wasn't aware. How wouldn't I have been aware?" Jason scoffed in disbelief. "So... my mother never said all those things to you, you lied," he growled. "You beast!"

Angelo also started shouting curses at him, trying to pounce on him just as Jason also wanted to. They were restrained by the guards, holding them back from ripping their

"Take them," Dracula commanded, putting his nose down at them. "And throw them in the dungeon. I wouldn't want anyone getting in my way of making Chloe queen and when she is, I will turn her away from you!"

The men kept screaming out their curses, struggling and yelling as they were being dragged away and into the darkest part of the cave....

"How long will they take to get back here?" Chloe asked. She had gone back downstairs to make peace with her brother, Jason, and panicked when she discovered that they had left. She asked Marcus to use whatever means of communication he used to call them back and he had, but they had waited all day and still, they was no sign of neither Angelo nor Jason.

Marcus shrugged, plopping down on the bed beside her. "I don't know? It has been over fifteen hours since I contacted Angelo and he is still yet to respond." He lowered himself, so he could lie on his back with his head resting against a pillow. "That is very unlike him, I hope all is well," he ended with a sigh.

"I have a bad feeling," Chloe started in a whisper. "Something is not right and I can feel it. What if my grandfather has done away with them, just as he did with my mother?" Her chest twisted painfully at the dreadful thoughts, she tried to force herself to think more positively. "Or maybe Jason is just mad and I should let him calm down for sometime, what do you think?"

"I think that's best," Marcus replied, pulling her down on the bed and into his arms. He pulled the duvet over them, asking that she went to sleep and left the worries for another day. "Sleep and put your worries behind you, let tomorrow take care of itself," he said....

Chloe's POV:

Where was I?

I looked around the strange place, but all I could see was dry land, more dry land and an endless space of dry land. I looked around for Marcus or anyone who was familiar, but it seemed like I was the only one there, I was deserted on this unknown place.

"Hello?" I yelled, looking around frantically. "Is anyone there? Can anyone hear me?" It was silent for a few seconds and then someone called my name from behind me. I turned around to see my mother standing there. "Mommy," I called, smiling at her but she did not return my smile.

She stared at me with disappointment glinting in her green orbs. "I am not your mother, you have failed me, Chloe nd I am truly disappointed in you."

I was taken aback by her harshness and tear began to fall out of my eyes. "Why mother? Why reject me so? I have done everything that had been required of me and still, I do not make you happy?"

"You do not. You have failed me, all you three children have failed me!"

More tears cascaded down my cheeks, my heart breaking with every sob that left me. I had no idea what I had done wrong, neither did I know how to go about it. If only she would tell me, I would right my wrongs.

"Wipe those tears child, this is not the time to weep and be sorrowful. It is time for you to rise and fight! Defeat the evil that threatens to claim us all and only then, would I be pleased with you."

My face scrunched up in confusion. "But how do I defeat the evil? What evil is there to defeat? I know nothing of what you speak off." I didn't get any reply.

She started to appear farther and farther. I panicked and began to run towards her, but it seemed the faster I ran, the farther she seemed. "Do not come after me Chloe, I have no use for you here. Go back to your husband, he needs you. Your brothers need you and your people need you. Help them!"

"But how?! How exactly do I help them?!"

She finally disappeared, only her voice lingering in the air. "You know what to do! Think Chloe, think!"

And I woke up, a pool of sweat dripping off my body. It was dark in here and I couldn't sense Marcus beside me. I still felt around for him, but his side of the bed was empty. I looked around the room carefully, checking to see if my mother had been in here of if really, I was only dreaming.

It felt so real. She wore the clothes she was wearing on her last day on earth, the day she died. Her eyes which were always so bright and lively, looked sad and dead. It was like she had been betrayed badly and she sounded like I had betrayed her. I knew I had to get those who wickedly murdered her and avenge her death, but she of all people should know that it was not that easy. She had lost the battle, how did she expect me to win?

Think Chloe, think!

Her voice resonated in my head and I paused, letting myself think for the first time. I realized that truly, I had not been thinking at all. I was always mourning at my loss and never doing anything to get justice for the lives taken.

I needed to corner my grandfather, find out his hideout and strike but how? Angelo would have helped, but I had told Jason off and now, I think they were both mad at me. I could no longer trust Lily, Mark wasn't an option and Titus- Wait a second...

Titus.

How had I not thought about that before?

I went to move out of bed and contact him, but decided to let it be for now. I was going to get busy with spying around the house to see if I would find anything suspicious, then I would get in touch with Titus by morning.

I climbed out of bed, making my way over to door. I threw my feet into my flip-flops, going to grab the door knob and when I was about to turn it, I heard whispers from outside. I pressed my ear against the door and focused, the voices were coming from outside the house.

So instead of walking out the door, I transformed into my invisible form and went through the door. I hurried towards the front door, passing through it also. What my eyes landed on, got me
