Alpha's Little Vampire Mate

Chapter 103

Marcus's POV:

Her sobs faded out, as I stomped farther away from her. I had left her on the floor crying, and even as I really wanted to pull her up and tell her not to cry, that I would fix everything up, I could not!

I had a bad feeling in my stomach that she had done what she did to Cara, because every evidence pointed to her. She had left the house very furious and had also informed me that she was going to see Cara. She left and had not returned untill later at night, what were the odds that she had not done it?

I increased my strides, ignoring the whispering that was starting to spread amongst the servants. I made my way out of the house and headed for Cara's grandmother's house. It had been a while since I visited to check up on her, I hope she was well. As much as I hated to be the bearer of such horrible news, I just felt she had the right to know.

I knocked and waited for a moment. There was shuffling on the other side of the door and after a few minutes, the door cracked open.

"Alpha Marcus," she greeted with a smile and I gulped, my nerves getting the best of me. "What brings you here today?"

"I have come to talk to you..." I hesitated, trying to choose my words correctly. "About Cara," I finished.

She stared at me cautiously, giving me a once over. "What is it with my grand daughter and you loyalties? Your wife was just here with the Beta girl and now you too?"

I got confused and I was sure my face gave off my feelings. "Chloe was here? With Lilian?" I asked, wanting to be sure of what I had heard.

"You didn't know?"

"I did not," I replied immediately. I cursed under my thinking about why Chloe was keen on making things difficult for me. How was I to explain what I had come to? There was no way she would not be suspicious of Chloe, if anything; she would be her first suspect.

"Marcus?"

My eyes immediately moved back to hers, as my thoughts were interrupted. I gulped, my eyes darting about as they couldn't meet her own questioning gaze. I think my face should have given off some sort of emotions, because she grabbed my arms tightly.

Wide, scared eyes gazed up at me. "Qhat happened to my Cara? Did that wife of yours hurt her?!"

"I am afraid so," I whispered. My head fell as she started to cry hysterically. "I truly am sorry, please forgive me," I said, holding back a groan when one frail hand slammed against my chest. Her hand was sure stronger than how she looked and I beared through it all, not flinching even for once as she kept smacking me all over and rendering curses on Chloe.

"What nonsense!" Mark yelled, going to stand in front of Lily. "I can't let you take my wife, all because you suspect that she murdered a person! Your wife is the main suspect and she should be the one getting arrested, not Lilian!" I glared icily at him. "If I were you, I wouldn't argue with me right now. If Lily partook in a crime, it is only right that she gets the punishment that she deserves and I will see to it that she gets it!"

Lily huffed from behind Mark. "Seriously guys!" She yelled, eyes wide and angry. "I told you I didn't do anything! Chloe and I parted ways after we left the old lady's house and I have no idea where she went after that!"

My lips pursed and I gave her a look to make her understand that I did not believe a word of anything she just did. "Tale her," I said to the two police officers who stood by my side. They went forward back Mark hissed aggressively, pulling Lily tighter to himself. I sighed, my patience running thin. "Look here Mark, I also have sent people over to my house to take Chloe... it would be better if you cooperated, at least, do it for Cara..."

There was no doubt that Cara was a certified whore, but she still was once a friend to us both. We had taken our turns with her, even though my assistants were oblivious to the fact that I was aware! We owed her this much and it scared me that if our wives were truly guilty as I suspected, we would have no choice but to let them be tried and sentenced to whatever it was that the court pleases.

Slowly, Mark moved away and let them get a hold on Lily. She was shouting and screaming that she was innocent, but neither of us spoke. After she had been dragged away, I turned around and stomped out of the house, not bothering to listen to whatever Mark had started to say.

I saw the police van drive off in the distance and another pulled up beside me. The two policemen I had sent to the house to get Chloe, stepped out of the van and bowed before me. "Wgy do you not have the suspect with you?" I asked, glaring hard from one man to the other.

"By the time we got there, the Luna was gone," one of the men replied. Then, the other one spoke this time: "No one saw her leave the house, but she was nowhere to be found!"

Damn stubborn Lily! She had the guts to teleport or turn invisible at a time like this?

I dismissed them, promising to bring her over to the station myself. I went back home, called out for her, ransacked the whole place like she were some item I had misplaced but still; there was not even a clue that she had been in here over an hour ago.

I stomped out of the house, preparing to head into the woods when a servant said that something had been found on Chloe and brought in for me. I picked it up and strangely, it was addressed to me.

Hurriedly, I thanked the servant and turned around, marching back into the house. I flipped open the piece of paper as I went into my office, anger mixed with a deep regret for how I had treated Chloe, filled me and by the time I made it into my office and dropped down in my chair, I thought I was going to explode!

I called for Titus, asking him to inform Mark of the situation and then, they all gathered at my house. No amount of apology I rendered, was going to convince Lily to forgive me and I gave up after trying for the fiftieth time.

I placed the room all day and... night, still no sign of Chloe. I hoped that she would finally show herself the next day but what did I know? I waited for three more days, before she walked in through the door. She looked a lot healthier from the last time I saw her and when I found out she knew about the evidence I found, my heart dropped into my stomach!

We talked for a little while, then she turned around and left alongside her brothers, who looked ready to devour me. I had no idea where she had gone, but I had my suspicion. Without wanting to make any mistakes, I ordered Titus to ready the men, giving some instructions to Lily and Mark, then ran out of the house and shifted into my black wolf.

It did not take too long before the others joined in, and we were running wildly, our paws hammering against the earth. I charged forward, halting when I reached the boundary. Using the pack's link, I ordered everyone to stop when I sensed something deadly but familiar.

A vampire...

Now I understood what Chloe has meant, when she had said he had someone supporting him. It was either the vampire had not sensed us yet, or he had no use for us and was in a hurry after someone more important to him... fuck! I growled, racing forward and letting the winds lead me to where I knew she would be. I kept racing, my wolf's eyes starting to glow a bright orange. I sent a message to the pack, telling them to split up and asked Mark and Titus to stay with me. With the pull of the connection, I saw that we were surrounding the vampire and I came to a screeching halt, when I finally stood before it.

Only when I recognized who it was, did I shift back. "What the hell Angelo?!" I yelled up in his face, shoving him in the chest. I looked around us to see that we really had been cornered and a swirling barrier had been put around us. "I," he started to reply in a cold tone. "Am not Angelo," he finished, giving me a disapproving stare like I had committed a great sin by getting his name wrongly. If he hated being misplaced so much, he should never have changed his hair colour in the first place!

"What is the deal with you?! Why did you corner me and my men?" The wolves behind me growled angrily, expressing their anger in the simplest way a vampire could understand. "Did Chloe put you up for this?"

"Yes," he replied almost immediately, leaving me flabbergasted. "She asked that you stayed out of her fight and she would stay out of yours!"

"What does that even mean?!" I yelled out my frustration. "This is not her fight as long as I know, it is mine! Edwin had just been so stupid to drag her in, but that does not mean she has to fight him!"

"It is more than you think," he muttered, giving me a blank stare. "I think it is time for you all to go home," he said, lifting his hand in the air. He began to mutter some incoherent words and I fought against the dizzy feeling that started to overcome my consciousness.

My eyes slowly drooped, my head swinging from side to side. I heard heavy thuds behind me, and I figured that the other wolves behind me had fallen out of consciousness, dropping to the ground. "What have done to us?!"

He did not reply or maybe, I had not heard him because I lost the last bit of consciousness I had and slipped into the darkness.

*

The next time I woke up, I found myself in... I don't know where I found myself. It looked like some kind of cave with a ceiling hanging above it. I started to feel dizzy again and my head felt funny, as I began dozing. I tried to keep my eyes open for as long as I could but before I knew it, I fell back into unconsciousness.

This time when I woke up again, I was no longer in a cave. I was in a room which looked to be a large hall and I was sitting in a chair. I blinked, letting my eyes adjust to the environment and that was when I noticed Chloe bending over and staring me right in the face.

"You are awake finally," she said, lifting herself and moving away from me. I watched her as she walked towards someone tied down into a chair and another; put in chains around the neck, legs and hands. Her brothers stood on either side of this one, while he knelt cursing and screaming. She went to sit in the space in between them, and started to taunt and mock at them. She then turned to me. "I think Edwin has something he would like to tell you... in private," she added, hesitating for a minute.

I looked from Chloe to Edwin suspiciously, my throat to parched to ask the questions I was itching to...
