Chapter 5
"Susan! Don't go!" Neme catches my wrist as I walk outside.
I turn to face her, enraged. I yank her off my wrist, disgusted.
"Don't stop me!"
As I sprint down the front stairs, snow crunches under my boots. I'm not sure where I'm going, but I have to leave.
Nothing stops me from going into those forests. Frost covers my face and hair. After a few minutes of wandering in the woods, the chilly wind chills my bones, and my teeth clatter. If I wasn't alone, I'd stop and enjoy snow-covered trees, but I'm not.
The forests appear to thin out as I approach a clearing. I hide my lips and scream. Men and women battle despite the snow. The dudes are sleeveless and the girls are in tank tops.
It's incredible, yet they all appear to have heard my astonishment. Everyone stops fighting and faces me. Fearful of their might, I broaden my eyes. I hear footsteps behind me and turn to see who it is. Neme jogs up, terror in her eyes. "We'll die." She hushes.
"Leave!" I hear yelling.
I glance back to the fighting and see Hunter approaching us. My brows furrow in awe.
"You want to leave? Why? Is there a reason?"
When I glance sideways, I see beautiful eyes. The man's naked except with a pair of pants, like every man right now, and he's gazing right at me.
He's a big muscle guy. It's hard to miss his strong jaw and shaved dark hair. He's awesome and handsome.
He said in a low magnetic tone. "You should be inside." Says he, motionlessly.
"You should be inside." He repeats coldly.
I stare back at Hunter. "Who is he?"
Neme whispers in my ear, "He's David," She replies, gazing behind me at the muscular guy. "And he told us to keep you inside."
I'm only perplexed why instruct my sister to confine me inside a house? There must be a purpose behind this. For selling me, or forcing me to be a maid?
I turn around and stare at David with suspicious unrest-ed eyes.
"Are you nuts to capture us and confine us ;to your home! This is absurd!"
David's stoic exterior breaks when he twitches his lip in irritation. His fists tighten. I raise an eyebrow.
When he doesn't respond, I've seen how frigid it may become outside.
When I don't speak, goosebumps cover my arms and my teeth clatter together in frustration. As I open my lips, I prepare to snark at him once again, but he gets the better of me. "Hunter, you should take her back. We must continue our fighting test."
David looks at me for a moment before turning around to face the nude men. They look at him with wide-open mouths, as if they are stunned. "Hurry!" He raises his voice.
But it's not because Hunter places his hands on my shoulders that I gasp. No, I have a strong reaction. Instantaneously, I'm lifted off the ground.
While he goes into the bushes, I begin to smack him as he does the same. Neme is trailing after me, helpless. I cast a glimpse over her to see David, his face devoid of emotion. I thumped my fists on Hunter's solid back, but it didn't work at all. For the whole journey home, I shouted to David to put me down.
My face is flushed from all of the screamings. Neme does nothing but gasp.
David picks me up and brings me around the house. After passing through the eating area, Jessica comes up to us and says hello. I beg her to aid me, but she only shrugs and walks away.
I'm being escorted up to the room and thrown on my couch. I dash to the locked door, only to realize that it is also closed and locked.
After that, I hear him depart. I turned on the dim light with a shaky hand, certain that the door had been locked just minutes before. It hasn't been unlocked yet.
I'm sobbing because I'm weak and impotent in the face of this situation. Sorrow and sadness are things I loathe.
I walked over to the door, I try to open it with the knob, but the door remains locked.
I let out a quiet cry and reach out to grab it, but the bedroom door swings open unprotected and wide.
I scream. Hunter approaches me with a sneer on his face. He erratically removes the notebook from the bedside table.
He then turns to face me. "Jessica is in desperate need of your assistance."
"Why?"
"The reason for the lockdown is because you are extremely stubborn and hard-headed."
I'm smirking at the moment.
I don't bother to glance behind me to see whether Hunter is following me; after all, why would he leave me alone to flee?
When I go into the kitchen, Jessica is cheerfully slicing a herb for Alison's benefit. Alison seemed to be taken aback by my presence. I give her a kind smile, and she turns her head to look at me.

"Did you need my assistance, Jessica?"
The attractive woman lets out a sigh. The guys in this area don't understand women, and I apologize for that.
With her smile gone, she starts slicing the plants with a lot of determination.
Alison interrupts the conversation. "Many of the men in this town are possessive and act without thinking."
I'm surprised to hear her say anything. Jessica comes to a complete halt and bursts out laughing.
"Indeed, that is correct." The pasta pan and the pot of boiling water are the first things Jessica indicates when I ask what she needs help with.
I take a peek at the digital clock on the stove. 1:00 p.m.
"Do you think it's too early to start preparing dinner?" I'd want to know more.
"No, no, no. As the large number of visitors expected for dinner, we normally begin early." Alison concurs with this statement.
There were buckets of food for everyone who had been invited to the feasts, to be more precise.
"Does everything seem to be homemade?" I'd want to know more.
"Yes, I do."
Her response took me completely by surprise.
The fact that this facility is so large and that they hired servers for dinner led me to believe that they had an expensive chef and staff in the kitchen. Jessica is responsible for everything. Although I have only known her for one day, my affection for her has grown.
