Chapter 35
I return to bed with a clean pad and clean hands. I see the deserts on the dresser and eat one in the morning.
David is behind me, his arms around my waist, and his face in the crook of my neck, providing a pleasant warmth to my taut tummy and rest of my body. "You've got me thinking about kids before we've even mated." I groan.
A slow kiss on my neck. "They'll be puppies, Susan." David enlightens me. "And step by step.
The sun almost blinds me.
Since David and I never remember to shut the curtains before bed.
I shift my body. I can completely open my eyes and see a fully awake David observing me with a slight grin on his face.
How can he be gorgeous when he awakens?
His hair is a mess, yet it suits him. His naked chest makes my mouth wet. The muscles are all tasty. I'd want to see what's down there, but the blanket is over his waist. "Do you like it?" David sneers at me.
My gray eyes twitch, but my cheeks don't flush. "What if I?" I sass. David growls and pounces on me, causing me to laugh out loud.
"David! Leave!" I grin.
In between my legs, David straddles me, one leg between my legs. My wrists are gathered and lifted over my head. It makes me shiver. Slowly, David moves in and places his lips on me.
I fight to free my hands, but it's futile. My body relaxes into the bed, my eyes shut, and I breathe contentedly. As charming as usual, David steps back, a victorious smile on his face. "Good day, Susan." David releases my wrists.
My fingertips tremble at the nape of his neck, "Good day."
I'm not sure how long we lay in bed together, silent, without touching. It soothes. I understand we may have missed breakfast. I sat up and smacked David in the chest. "Brunch, David."
An arm around my waist keeps me from getting up. I laugh and attempt to flee but fail.
"We must eat," I say.
I jerk around in horror, ready to chastise David, but he's laughing stops me. I get out of bed. I get dressed out of my PJs and into something decent.
Of course, I'm getting ready to go downstairs. David thinks it's his time. I leave him alone and go down. When I smell the delectable breakfast, my stomach growls. Everyone is sitting and waiting for their Alpha.
"Good day." I cheerfully greet once I'm seated.
I cross Hunter and offer him a loving grin to annoy him. In the end, Nemechuckles and elbows Hunter in the side to silence him.
The table, including me, awaits David's arrival. And he does show up.
David sits in his throne-like wooden chair at the head of the table. When David says we can eat, everyone runs to the bowls and plates.
David smiles as he brings me the platter of cookies. I put the biscuit on my dish and got the gravy.
"Hunter said you'd discuss the Luna Ceremony with Jessica today."
My hand stops pouring orange juice. "I'll see Jessica after breakfast," I respond and finish my cup. I put the orange pitcher on the table so someone else may drink.
I look around the dining room, but Jessica isn't there. My once-optimistic outlook starts to dim, then a foot beneath the table touches my ankle.

"It'll work." He informs me when I glance up.
I'm glad. I nod and start eating my breakfast. Hunter and David discuss border patrol schedule adjustments, while Name and I discuss my Luna Ceremony when I overhear a weary, childlike whine. "But mama, I don't eat." A girl quietly murmurs in panic.
Embarrassed, the girl turns around and faces her dish. Neme keeps chatting, but I'm focused on the mother and girl. The mother combs her daughter's hair and encourages her to take two bites. When I was young, Dad attempted to prepare supper. Whatever he repaired, I remember asking Mom to do it again.
I interrupt Name, saying I'll return soon. I draw all the guests' attention with my chair's loud screaming on the rough wood flooring. When David wonders what I'm doing, I quickly kiss his stubby jawline. "Hello," I say to the mother and daughter.
The mother sits, gasping and covering her heart.
"May I assist you?"
The daughter ignores me and focuses on her dish. I stoop to chat with the mother and be at her daughter's level.
My kid said she didn't want a cookie. The mother nods and looks at her daughter. "I could take her inside to change something else if that's acceptable..."
The girl gently moves away from her plate, shocked. "Can we?"
"Hmm."
The girl smiles and hops up. A little hand takes mine and pulls me towards the kitchen. The power astounds me that beast in her.
My first thought is pastries, but I know they won't be as lovely as Jessica's.

The girl's gorgeous eyes sparkle. "Yes!"
So we start making noodles.
The girl mentions her parents. Her father is a shop owner, and her mother is a house cleaner. When David arrives through the side kitchen door.
"Susan, breakfast is done." David sneers.
The girl smiles and gestures to her Alpha.
I grin and return to the stove. I put the noodles in the bowl.
Do you know how pleased I am when you behave like Luna? "David mumbles."
His voice makes my body do odd things. I grasp for his big hand, my body tingling. "I thought I was a Luna?" David grins and moves in close, his lips caressing mine.
I can't help but sigh. Our kiss isn't heated or steamy. It's romantic and lovely. I remember the girl and move away from David, my cheeks flushed.
The girl doesn't spare us a glance while she consumes her meal.
"Susan?" David takes my chin and draws me in. "Seeing you as a Luna makes me and my wolf very happy. It makes me want to toss you over my shoulder and show you off to every Alpha." Oh, my heart! Stupid tears flood my eyes, and my heart skips a beat.
"How long have you planned that speech?" I smirk.
David squints and growls, but his grin tells me he's not angry. A scent tickles my nose as I smile. Oh no!
