Chapter 9
I'm in shock and not sure what to say. My niece Kali just told me she is pregnant. I pull over, so I'm not distracted and crash. “Kali! How far along are you?" I ask. "You know you have to tell your mother," I state, not liking the idea of keeping such a big secret from Marley. "I'm three months, and I can't tell mom she is going to freak. What if she kicks me out? What would I do alone with a baby at 16?" She cries and my heart goes out to her, but I know my sister.
"Even if she did kick you out, I wouldn't let you have nowhere to go. Of course, your mom will be upset because you're so young, but she will come around. It's her grandchild,” I assure Kali. "Oh, Aunt Chloe, I'm so scared when I told my boyfriend he told me to get rid of the baby, but I can't. What am I going to do? My life is over. I know I was stupid and should have used protection, but its already done, and I can't give up my baby," she cries, devastated. "Everything will be okay, Kali I'm here for you, and your mom will be too, I promise, even if it may take her some time. You're still her baby," I explain, hoping my words are easing her worry.
"Thank you for not freaking out on me, Aunt Chloe. I'm doing that enough for everyone,” she says humorlessly. "I love you, Kali. I have to get to class for a final, but I will call you later, okay? Take care and think about telling your mom please if you need to video chat with me while you do it, you can." I encourage her. "Love you too, Aunt Chloe, I will let you know. Bye!” She says, and we hang up. I rest my head against my steering wheel as my mind reels from this information. I can only hope she'll do the right thing and tell my sister the truth. For all our sakes.
I make it to class and take a seat next to Maci, who is rushing through her study guide again before Mr. Davis gives us the test. "Hey, Maci!” I call out, catching her attention. "Hey, how are things? I was worried about you since you left in such a rush. Is everything okay?" she asks. "Yeah, some personal things came up, sorry to rush off," I say apologetically. "That's okay. I hope everything gets better," she says with a smile. "Thanks! Oh Maci, tonight is my friend's bachelorette party. Would you like to come?" I ask and smile when her eyes light up with excitement. "Yeah, I'll come. Where are we going?" she asks. "It's this place downtown that just opened called Club Sensations,” I tell her. "Hell yeah! I'll be there. What time?” she asks happily. "I'd say around 10:00," I tell her then Mr. Davis starts to hand out the test, so we get quiet.
I am almost finishing with the test when I look up to take a break from my paper. My eyes
immediately fall on William, who is looking right at me. I abruptly look away, breaking the awkward
eye contact, but I can still feel his gaze on me. He really gives me the creeps. “Why is he always
staring at me?’ I think, shaking my head to bring myself back to reality. I finish my test and raise my
hand so Mr. Davis can come pick up my final. "May I be excused?" I ask once he gets to me. "Sure,
Chloe. Scores will be online Sunday Have a great weekend!" he says, walking away with my final.
I stand to leave for the door and once I'm in the hall I walk to the parking lot, but as I'm getting in my car, I hear William yelling my name. "Chloe!" I turn to see him running up to me. "Hey, want to grab that coffee?" he asks, trying to catch his breath. My conscience is telling me to just get in my car and leave, but I ignore it. "Can I take a raincheck? Today is my friend's bachelorette party, so I have to help her get ready,” I say truthfully, watching his face fall. "Oh okay, well, tell her congratulations for me. Where are you taking her?" he asks, but for some reason I hesitate for a moment. "Um, a new club downtown," I answer, deciding William doesn’t need to know the name. "Well, I better go. I need to get ready. Talk to you later," I say. I get into my car and start it before he has a chance to respond then drive away.
Walking into the packhouse, I look for Amelia. I go to the kitchen to see if she is there and I find Paul. "Hey Paul, do you know where Amelia is?" I ask him. "Oh, hey Chloe. She went to get some dresses for you all tonight,” he says. "Okay, I'll wait for her in the room,” I inform. Paul nods his head in agreement. I walk to Amelia's room when someone grabs me from behind, picking me up into a hug. When I look down, I see tattoos on the person's hands and feel relief wash over me. He lets me down, and I turn to look at him.
"Malachi, you scared me," I blurted out then laughed. My hand moves to cup his face while I look at him like I'm in love, which surprises me. It's way too soon. Malachi wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me against his body, kissing me with so much passion between us as if it's the first time. It feels like fireworks every time we touch. "I wanted to see you before I had my meeting, but Paul rushed me out,” he explains. "It's OK I understand you are an Alpha, you have priorities,” I tell Malachi. "So, this bachelorette party is happening tonight you have to stay with Amelia at all times you never know when this guy can appear” he orders me and I can see the worry in his eyes. "I will, don't worry. I won't go by myself anywhere, okay? I'll be fine.” I tell him, running my hands up his strong arms.
He leans down to press his soft lips to mine, and a slight moan escapes me. That gets him into beast mode, and I soon find myself pushed against the wall with his strong arms on both sides of me. Malachi opens his mouth, and I do the same to let him in. He grinds against me which turns me on even more. I run my hands down his chest to the hem of his shirt and pull it off, exposing his bare skin as I feel all his muscles.
In the heat of our kiss I see Amelia turning the corner, walking right toward us. "I keep finding you two in the halls in the craziest positions. You do know the room is right there, don’t you?” she asks, smirking and pointing towards the empty room. Malachi backs away from me with a sigh, and I already ache for us to reconnect. "I will try to resist the urge of fucking your friend in the hall," Malachi says, grinning at me before he kisses my forehead. "We will finish this later, Luna,” he promises quietly in my ear. Those words send bolts of electricity right through me, and I can't resist watching Malachi walk down the hall to the living area. Before he disappears, he glances back at me with a wolfish grin. I look at Amelia, and see she is grinning ear to ear. "Go ahead, say it," I tell her. "Told you Alpha’s get what they want,” she laughs. "Shut up, let's get ready,” I say with a frown and enter her room.
While we are in Amelia's room, getting ready for the night, I see Amelia is watching me closely. "Hey, Chloe, you okay? You look like something is bothering you,” Amelia mutters, searching my expression. "I'm fine, there are just some things I found out today and I'm feeling a little stressed,” I say. "Are Marley and the kids okay?" She asks, concerned. "Yeah, Marley is okay, but it's my niece Kali. She called me this morning to tell me she is pregnant.” I confess, running my hand through my hair. "What? She's only
sixteen, that poor girl. Let me guess the boy is a piece of shit and wants nothing to do with the baby?" she asks. "Yeah, my heart breaks for her,” I mumble, wishing there was something I could do. "I should rip his head off,” Amelia growls. The scary part is she would do it. "Kali hasn't told Marley, yet I don't know what to do. Should I let her tell my sister?" I ask, needing an outsiders advice. "Honestly, I think it needs to come from Kali,” Amelia mutters. "You're right,” I sigh, picking up the dress Amelia got for me. I take a moment to acknowledge how beautiful it is. The material is Burgundy, and strapless with the hem ending a little past my butt. She paired it with a pair of black stilettos.
After I put them on, I look in the mirror to fix my hair, releasing it from the bun I had it in. It falls to the middle of my back. I style it over one shoulder and braid it loosely then move onto my makeup. I put on some burgundy lipstick then my mascara. While I'm finishing up, Amelia comes out of the closet in a red dress that fits tight to her frame, you can see her perfect hourglass shape. "Oh, damn, girl!" I say with a whistle. She spins around like she is modeling, and I laugh. "Let's go downstairs to say bye to the guys,” she says, and I nod, following her out the room.
Amelia and I get to the top of the stairs and I can hear Malachi and Paul at the bottom talking with some more pack members. I notice all of them are men and it seems they've decided to have the bachelor party here. “Will they have strippers here later?” I wonder and feel anger rise in me just thinking about some sweaty girl all over Malachi's lap. “Why should I care, I scold myself, shaking my head to snap out of it.
We walk down the stairs, and all eyes turn to us, and I'm pleased to see all their mouths fall open. Malachi has his back to us but when he sees everyone else looking our way, he turns to see what the commotion is about. Heat consumes my body as Malachi looks me up and down. I can see he wants to have his way with me right here and now and it is oh so tempting. Paul stands first to kiss Amelia, then the rest of the men stand as well to greet me, but before they can get close enough Malachi is in front of me in seconds looking at his friends with a low snarl escaping his mouth.
"She is mine,” he says in an aggressive tone. They all stand down and walk back to their seats. He turns to me with a look that could make me orgasm on the spot. "You are lucky all these people are here, or I would rip that dress off and fuck you right here," he says in a low voice. "What makes you think I don't
want that?” I whisper in his ear, then press a lingering kiss against the tattoo on his neck. "You are asking for it, aren't you?" he whispers. I trail my finger from his neck down to his pants. "You will have to wait to see,” I say in an alluring voice. Then I place a soft kiss on Malachi's cheek, and walk to the door with Amelia.
