Chapter Alpha Dorian-One
Chapter 1
I remember as a kid birthdays were always something extremely emotional to me. I always found myself weeping as the clock struck twelve and I definately knew this year it would also be the same. But this year it was a little more special because this year I was finally turning eighteen. I had always thought of this year as my golden year. A year on which I will finally come out of my cacoon that I had hid in an bring out myself.
I changed into my pyjamas and lay down in bed pretending that I didn't know anything about the surprise that my mom, Marinda and John were planning for me downstairs. This was something that really annoyed me. A surprise coudn't remain a surprise for me ever, somehow I would get to know of it.
Every year it was the same tradition on my birthday. We used to have
lunch with Marindas parents. Marinda was my bestfriend since I was
three and we were inseperable. Her mother was like a second mother
to me and every year she made her famous lasagna for me on my
birthday that I loved. Eventhough, these traditions were fun but this
year me and Marinda had decided to do something different. A little bit
rebellious.
One of our friends boyfriend owned a club and had promised us an entry just because it was my birthday. Marinda had told everyone that she was going to sleep over at my place tonight. So in between my boring closet now stood a beautiful black dress that I was going to sneak out in tonight.
"Sydney!" I heard my mom call from downstairs.
"Coming mom." I yelled as I quickly made up my surprised face.
I came out of my room and slowly made my way downstairs. And just like that, there was my favourite chocolate cake on the table with with some flowers and gifts.
"Happy Birthday, my love.” my mom came and hugged me. I melted into her embrace immediately. These were the moments I lived for. I knew that it was not only me that was crying but also herself.
"Hey its my turn now!" said John as he too embraced me into a hug. "Happy birthday to my favourite teenager in the whole world." he smiled.
"Thank John." I smiled as I wiped down my tears.
John was my mothers husband and also like the father I never had. My father had left my mom when she was pregnant with me. My mom was at that time a struggling girl trying to get her life in tow. John owned the cafe she worked in. They soon fell in love and got maried and since then John had made me his daughther.
"Aren't you forgetting someone?" I heard Marinda.
"How can I forget you?" I smiled as I hugged her.
"Are you ready to elope?" she whispered
"Yes." I chuckled.
"Then here is your gift." she said as she handed me a package.
I opened it to find the new Iphone.
"You know I can't take this." I told her.
"You deserve this." she smiled.
Marinda was like mega rich. I wondered if her father was a billionare or something.
"And here is a small present from us.” My mom said as she came forward and handed me a small box. In it was a beautiful pendant which had a butterfly in between. My mom knew how much butterflies meant to me because I thought they were a symbol of independence. "Thank you so much, its beautiful.” I told them.
"And i'm still not taking that phone.” I told Marinda.
Two hours later when we had gotten ready and were sure that my parents were asleep, we slowly made our way downstairs and escaped from the back door. My heart was beating extremely fast but I was having the time of my life. We made our way to the car and Marinda got into the drivers seat because there was no way in hell, I was going to drive in heels
The whole way I had to put up with Marindas singing but fifteen years later into our friendship, it had become tolerable.
We arrived at the club and greeted Sara and her boyfriend Jack and thanked him as he himself escorted us inside the club. Inside the club was definately just like the movies. The smell of perfume, alcohol and sweat were all mixed together and people were literally on top of each other.
"You guys want a drink?" Jack asked us.
"Juice is fine." We both replied. We both had come to a mutual agreement that drinking would not be the best option the first we went into a club.
Some minutes later, me and Marinda were both on the dance floor as we danced our lives on all of Beyonces songs. Honestly, I was having a better time than I thought I would. For the first time in ages I was able to push away all my thoughts and not give a shit about what others thought.
I noticed my the strap of my heels had come off so I made my way to one of the bar stools to put on the strap. After a lot of difficulity I put on the strap and then I looked at the dance floor to find Marinda. But instead of finding Marinda, my eyes fell into the stranger sitting opposite to me.
The first thing I noticed was that he was staring at me emotionlessly and also the fact that he didn't back away when he found me looking at him, but instead kept on staring. He was of those men that captured your attention. Even in the dark lights of the club, I could see that he had a well built body with extremely sharp features. It was as if his presence had enthralled me.
Five minutes later, I realised how stupid I must be looking staring at him so I immediately averted my gaze from him and ordered another juice for myself. I tried my best to divert my attention from him but it was impossible to do so and I soon found myself looking back at him. But this time he wasn't looking at me, but Miranda.
His hands were clenched as he saw Marinda dancing with a man. So I immediately got up and made my way to Miranda.
"Please tell me you found a guy!" she screamed.
"No no I didn't, but there is this extremely handsome man sitting there. First he was looking at me but now he is looking at you and trust me he doesn't look pleased.”
"Come on show me, who is he?" She asked me as she dragged me out of the dance floor.
And once her eyes fell onto that man, immediately her posture changed.
"Come on we have to immediately leave.” She said.
"But what happened, who is he Marinda?" I asked her.
"My brother!" she yelled.
Holy freaking shit. Marinda had told me that her brother was coming from England. I had never met him before since he was doing some training or something but what I had heard of him was that he was extremely protective of Marinda.
