Alpha Bond

Chapter 39

Ella’s POV

My head feels like a ton, and each of the bones of my body is protesting in pain. Groaning, I try to open my eyes, but I can’t because it feels like I don’t have any control over my body.

Slowly, my senses begin to return as I recall the blast which happened when we moved deeper into the wood, almost near the southern border.

It was an actual blast, like someone has blown us up. The impact has caused me to lose my consciousness, so I don’t know how are Elena and Oliver.

My throat and nose burn with the smell of silver looming in the air. However, the smell of burning flesh forces me to push back my dizziness and open my eyes.

Opening my eyes, the first thing which I see is something part of my worst nightmare.

Elena is tied up with silver chains around her wrists and ankles, and the flesh around her wrists, which is exposed to silver, is melting. I look around for Oliver, and he is on the floor, and even his hands are tied behind his back as his legs are tied together. He seems barely conscious, as from what I can see, his condition is worse than both of us.

My mind turns blank because I truly feel trapped for the first time in my life. I call for my wolf, but all I receive is silence.

My mouth goes dry while my heart feels like it will stop any moment when I look at Elena as she struggles to free herself. Biting her lower lip, she glares ahead as she tries to break her restraints.

Silver chains dig deeper into her wrists, and I can almost see her bone. But this doesn’t deter her, as she uses her full strength to try to break her hands free.

Surprisingly, I am not tied with silver, but the chain with which I am tied is very strong as even I cannot move my hands. I am on the floor bound with shackles.

I try to heal Elena, but I am too weak to do anything. I think I have been drugged because I don’t have any other explanation for the way I am feeling.

“Conserve your energy. You are the least injured among the two of us, and we will need your help.” Elena whispers through gritted teeth, “Don’t worry about me.”

“Silver can only burn the flesh, but it is ineffective against the bones.” She clenches her eyes tightly and pulls the restraint again, “Once I free my hands, then I will free you.”

“He took the impact of the majority of the explosives to protect us. You were ahead of us, so you aren’t directly in the way of the explosion.” She answers my unasked question when she finds me looking at Oliver, “Flying shrapnel struck me, and because of silver, I am not healing, so I feel like shit.” She puffs her cheeks and tugs the chains.

“I feel so fucking betrayed.” She glares at the chains, “All my life, I trained to fight against enemies. Hand-to-hand combat, fighting in animals forms and with animals forms, strengthening my powers... I did everything to be the best. And here I am in this condition because of fucking explosives!”

“Once I will get my hand on that bastard who blew us up, I will stuff his ass with explosives and turn him into bloody New years firecracker.” She huffs in frustration.

“It is unfair.” Suddenly, she stops struggling and looks at us with a frown, “Why the fuck am I tied on this wall like a starfish, and you both are simply on the ground with shackles?” She narrows her eyes at us, looking irritated.

Even though this is not the situation where I should laugh, I can’t help it. Even she starts laughing with me.

See? This is what we are like. Even though we are fucked up, we can still find something to laugh about.

“Why I haven’t thought about this before.” She murmurs to herself as her eyes brighten up.

Of course, she has found a way.

She takes a few calming breaths and relaxes her body, and then a look of concentration appears on her face.

I quietly watch her while feeling the flow of energy through her. She is weak, and whatever she is doing is taking a toll on her.

Sweat begins to appear on her forehead, but she doesn’t stop. My eyes slightly widen as the chains around her ankles flame up along with her ankles. The same thing happens with her wrists.

The chains turn bright red as they reach the melting point within a few moments. Even though chains melt into her skin through her jeans, she manages to break them.

My heart shatters, watching the tears which slip from her eyes but finally, she frees her hands as well.

She quickly comes to me and frees me by burning the chains but never lets any metal touch my skin. I embrace her in a hug as soon as she breaks the chains.

Holding her tightly against my chest, I try to take away her pain but pushing me away, she glares at me.

"No, Ella." She moves to Oliver and begins to break his restraints, "You need your energy to heal him. My injuries are far more severe than him because silver is melted into my skin, which will take a lot of your powers." She points her wrists

"So it is better that you heal him because the majority of his wounds are from explosives, so even you will gain fewer wounds which your wolf can heal faster." She holds his chains, and a sharp breath passes through her clenched teeth.

As soon as she releases his chains, she falls beside him. Lying on her back, she closes her eyes, looking completely exhausted.

"Heal him, fast. We don't have much time." She whispers tiredly while I am debating what to do because I can't see her in this condition.

"I have mom's blood running in me. I will not die." Opening her eyes, she smiles at me, "I need some rest, then I will heal just fine. But he needs you more than me."

"If he is my mate, then you are my sister. You are important to me. Can't you understand this?" I glare at her, "I can't see you in pain."

"I know what I am doing, so please listen to me and do as I say." She sighs when she realizes I am not convinced, "Trust me, nothing will happen to me."

"If something happens to him, this will weaken you as well because you both are mates." Moving back, she pulls herself up and rests against the wall, "So, instead of being emotional, do what is necessary."

"I am not going to choose him over you!" I nearly yell at her. "If I am going to heal, it will be both of you. Otherwise, I won't."

"It is not about choosing him or me. It is about what will be beneficial." She lets out a breath, "At this moment, I will weaken you, but he will strengthen you."

"Please, for my sake, just do as I say." She pleads.

I feel angry because she knows I can't say no to her and Thea, and she is using this against me.

Holding her gaze, I concentrate on my healing powers and feel my palms becoming warmer. Grabbing Oliver's hands, I begin to heal him while my eyes never move from Elena's face.

"I miss mom." Elena pouts and keeps her head on my shoulder.

Oliver is mad at Elena, just as I am. He was furious to discover how Elena asked him to heal instead of her.

"We will soon be with her." Pressing a kiss on her forehead, I pick up her hand to check her wounds.

Silver has done a quiet number on her wrists. The flesh around her wrists is damaged pretty badly. However, her healing has kicked in, so she is recovering.

But she still seems very weak as she has pushed herself to the limit and exhausted her powers to free us.

"Are you okay?" Oliver sits on his knees in front of her and gently holds her face in his hands.

"No." She shakes her head, "But I will be once I tear one or two bastards." She gives him an innocent smile.

"Crazy." Oliver lightly chuckles at her, and then his eyes meet mine, and I see the guilt and hurt he is feeling to see her like this.

"What should we do?" He sits beside me and looks at the closed door, "We have no idea how many people we are facing, and things have become even more difficult as now we know they are using human weapons."

Oliver decided it was better to wait for them here and take them down. Elena is weak, so we are actually just buying some time for her to recover.

"Do you think humans are helping them?" I frown.

"Yes, it might be possible." Elena nods her head. Sliding down, she keeps her head in my lap, "Because even though we are stronger than humans, they don't have limitations like us. Silver, wolfsbane, and even the Alpha command will not have much effect on them. So maybe they are using them. Maybe they have offered these humans something making them work for them." She begins to sound drowsy.

Oliver's worried gaze snaps to me, and then he looks at her as she closes her eyes.

"Her body needs rest to heal. That's why she is becoming sleepy." I answer him, trying to ease some of his worries, "She will heal quickly while sleeping, as her body will be in rest."

And also, I will be able to heal her as she will not be able to resist it as she will be sleeping. So, now I should just wait for her to fall into a deep sleep.

It took some time for her to sleep because the pain made her restless. However, as soon as I figured she was asleep, I wasted no time healing her.

I tried to heal her as best as I could, but still, the injuries from silver weren't completely healed. I intake a sharp breath trying not to react when the pain hits me, and instantly Oliver holds me realizing what is happening.

I look at Elena in awe because by looking at her, no one could have guessed how much pain she was going through. Her tolerance level surprised me.

Slowly the pain dies down, but the burning sensation is still there, but it is nothing unbearable.

"She is amazing, right?" I whisper, looking at Elena's relaxed face.

"You both are." Oliver's words make me tear my gaze away from Elena, look at him, and realize something I wasn't trying to think about earlier.

I could have lost them both.

This thought stirred a wave of rage inside me.

My ears register someone approaching the door, and the anger which I am feeling intensifies.

I am ready to end this once and for all. Whoever is behind all this has chosen their death when they have brought us here.

Elena is instantly up and alert, as her eyes are fixed at the door as Oliver takes his position between the door and us.

We all look at each other as a silent message passes between us.

"No mercy," Elena smirks with a crazy glint in her eyes.

Oliver calls forward his wolf as he menacingly glares at the door.

"No forgiveness," I say calmly while slipping my hand in Oliver's hand as the door opens, revealing the face who was disguised as our well-wisher.

Oliver's eyes blaze with fury as he locks his eyes with the traitor.

"Surprised to see me, Superior."
