Alpha Bond

Chapter 23

Ella’s POV

“Oliver, I know all this is too much for you. But you have to focus on what is important instead of wasting your time on being emotional.” Elena breaks the silence surrounding us after Oliver realizes how these guardians have been lying to him.

I wanted to give Oliver some time and space to get hold of his emotions because the pain of betrayal is the worst. And somewhere, he has been betrayed by his people.

However, Elena is someone who always prioritizes what the need of the moment is. For her, emotions that weaken us are the emotions from which we should detach ourselves.

Usually, I don’t agree with her on this, but at this moment, she is right.

“We first need to strengthen his connection with his wolf.” Elena looks at me and then at Oliver, “His wolf can help him in reaching his true potential. When you are in your animal form, then there are no inhibitions or emotions that might become your weakness. You utilize every ounce of your power to prove your supremacy against your enemies. Because in the end it all comes down to survival of the fittest, and for that, every threat has to be removed.”

“We have to find out what kind of powers he has and what makes him different from the other high-ranking guardians so that he can use this to his advantage.” Elena’s mind is already working to come up with a solid plan because that’s what she is really good at.

She is excellent at making strategies and executing them. And this is her zone. These guardians don’t know whom they are standing against as we are Ivory and Donovon’s daughters, and together we can turn their world upside down.

“I will help him strengthen his connection with his wolf and try to find a way to awaken his dormant powers.” His wolf is submitted to me; that’s why he will answer my calls, and I can work as a bridge between them.

“Almost every person has some triggers. If we can find out how we can get a strong reaction out of him, then maybe we can use it to our advantage.” Shrugging my shoulder, I glance at Elena to find her nodding her head in agreement.

“Yeah, it sounds like a good plan.” Chewing inside of her cheeks, she nods her head.

All this while Oliver is silent, and when I look at him, I am surprised to find him smiling at us.

“What?” His smile is contagious that even I can’t stop myself from smiling back for no reason.

“Do you guys realize that I am sitting right here?” He arches his eyebrow, looking amused.

“Well, the way you are silent, you can almost pass as dead.” Elena rolls her eyes at him, “Speak to look alive, Ollie.” Raising her eyebrows, she gives him a blank look. Her bored tone almost seems comical.

“Aren’t you the sweetest?” Oliver jokes with her, causing her to flip him a bird.

“I am a sweet poison, Handsome.” She smirks, “I can ruin you emotionally, mentally, and physically. But don’t worry, my sweetness is reserved for only some special people and you are not on that list.”

“I am deeply hurt that I am not special.” Oliver pretends to look hurt, causing Elena to laugh.

For some reason, it warms my heart the way my mate and my sister are beginning to bond with each other. I know he only witnessed the love of the family when he was at the pack. This is the first time he must be letting his carefree side out since he had been separated from us because all these years God knows what he went through.

I want to know about the part of Oliver’s life which still hidden from me. There is a lot that we have to talk about and share with each other, but I can’t speak to him about it in front of anyone. A part of me still feels scared, that what if everything becomes too much for him and he decides to give up... give up on our bond, on us, on his freedom.

Oliver’s hand finds mine and interlocks our fingers, and he slightly squeezes my hand. It seems like he has sensed my haywire feelings and tried to assure me that he will never leave my side.

“Guardians are born with some powers, right?” Elena questions Oliver, “Well, of course, not awesome as ours, but still some mediocre powers like manipulations, etc.” The hint of arrogance in her tone makes me smirk while Oliver has an amused look on his face.

“It is difficult believing that she is Alpha Donovon and Luna Ivory’s daughter.” Lowering his head, he chuckles lightly to himself.

“They are humble, but we are their pride.” Elena shrugs, looking totally fine with his indirect comment about her being a snob, “And when someone believes that you are their pride, then it means that you have to be the best and never let them down by lowering your self-worth and dignity.”

“When you put your self-worth on the back, no matter what the reason is, then you are giving the world the chance to trample you under their feet.” She holds Oliver’s gaze firmly, “But if you learn to trust yourself and your strengths, then you have the power to make your own destiny.”

There is something in her words that makes you want to believe in yourself. Earlier, I used to believe that she had the power to turn her weakness into her strength. However, today I realized she possesses the ability to make everyone realize their strength even when they feel vulnerable.

Standing up, Oliver walks to her and wraps his arms around her. She looks at me with raised eyebrows and awkwardly pats his back.

“Thank you.” Stepping back, he presses a small kiss on her forehead with a smile, revealing how much her words have affected him.

“You are strong, Oliver, more than these assholes who are trying to snatch your identity from you.” She gives him a genuine smile, “It’s high time that these bastards see the real Oliver, the one who will not bend to their will, but instead who will snap their neck if they dare to cross him.”

Looking at me, she nods her head with a small smile, silently telling me that she is with us.

“I love you, and you are the best.” I mouth her while making a heart sign with my hands.

She laughs and blows a kiss in my direction.

“I will make sure to keep these guardians’ attention away from you, so you don’t have to worry about being caught.” Her face has a sly smile on her face, “Moreover, I am getting bored here, so I need to find some entertainment for myself.”

“Elena, this entertainment should not have anything to do with burning someone or landing someone into trouble.” I give her a stern look because her entertainment means trouble for others.

“Don’t worry; I will be good.” She smirks and winks at me, causing me to sigh because that is not reassuring at all.

“Elena, I am serious!” I exasperate, already knowing my voice is falling on deaf ears.

“So am I, Big sister... so am I.” She waves her fingers in a goodbye and sprints in the direction of the woods.

I can practically imagine her evil laugh echoing through the woods. Sighing, I look at the sky and send out a silent prayer for whoever might become her target.
