Alpha Adryan

Chapter fifty three

Jade stood up from her earlier seated position on the love seat when she had entered the library after dinner, she hadn't expected to spend so much time in there, skimming for something to read, but it seemed like she was gravitating toward a genre in specific, which she didn’t even know she was looking for.

Creatures of the night. The title read.

The entailed information about various creatures of the night. Ever since she those violet-colored eyes, she was curious to know what creature those belonged to, she knew that he couldn't be a werewolf since werewolves generally had yellow, green, brown, and grey eyes, the ones corresponding to their human side, besides she had an inkling that he was something else entirely.

She moved towards the shelf where she had picked the book from, keeping it back in its original position, she made her way outside, moving towards the direction of her room where she had put Adonis to sleep earlier.

A grow! halts her in her footsteps, turning to the side, she looks around her surrounding. She could tell it was dark outside, almost two in the morning with the full moon high in the sky. It was quiet outside and the occasional chirping of crickets broke the silence of the night. She strained her hearing, trying to listen for something but she came up empty. Thinking that she had just imagined it, she turns to go back. She hadn't even taken a step forward when another growl ripped through the night. the sleepiness she felt previously was wiped off in seconds because now she knew that she wasn't imagining it, for the sound was coming from inside the house.

Her feet propel her towards the direction of Adryan's room. She paused when her hands grabbed the handle, she wasn't sure if she wanted to barge into his room in the middle of the night but she dismissed that thought before she backed out. Twisting the handle, she was met with complete darkness, at first glance nothing seemed out of place except for the fact that the bed was empty. She was about to leave when she heard a low growl coming from inside the walk-in closet.

Her brows furrowed in confusion, she had visited Adryan's room countless times before, but never ventured into the closet before. She takes slow steps toward the door that led to the walk-in closet. Sliding the door open, her eyes widened as she took in the scene in front of her. The space was anything but a walk-in closet she expected to see. The gray concrete walls had scratch marks all along it, it seemed deep, whatever scratched it sure had a pair of sharp claws. A cell took almost three fourth of the space inside, it was dark inside, and the only source of light was the moonlight, which seemed to stream in through the tiny and only window in the whole room

A groan coming from inside the cells captures her attention, and her eyes widen further when she sees the figure crumpled on the floor. What shocks her was that it was in the process of transformation. Half human and half Lycan. The bones on its back were prominent as midnight black fur appeared on the skin.

"Adryan” she called, her voice low but managed to capture his attention. He lifted his head from his crumpled position on the floor. Glowing red eyes clash against her emerald eyes. His lips were bleeding as his long and sharp canines were extended, and his already chiseled face was defined as he was half transformed, he was a mixture between being human and Lycan.

"What are you doing here?" he managed to grit out, his voice more deep than usual, it sounded more guttural like that of an animal.

"I-1" Jade seemed to be lost for words. His claws which were extended, drag along the concrete floor of the cell, she cringed visibly as she heard his bones snapping. The process seemed so painful even to watch, she couldn't even comprehend what he must be feeling. By now she had understood that he was changing since it was a full moon today, from what she read in the books from the library, she had learned that Lycans were deeply connected with the moon, causing them to transform on full moons, whereas since werewolves weren't as deeply connected, they didn't feel compelled to transform.

"What can I do to help?" she asked, slightly panicking. She watched as the moonlight cast light on his half-transformed face.

"Just- Leave," he says, blood dripping down his chin as his canines pierced his lips yet again.

Brushing off his words, Jade looked around the room. Her eyes searched for something, but they stopped when she spotted something glinting dangling from the hook on the wall. Moving towards it, her hands hold the cold keys between her fingers, Jade had expected the metal to burn her skin but she was surprised when It didn't, seems like it was made of something else entirely, silver would've burned her skin already. She doesn't waste any time moving towards the cell, standing before the door. Her hands worked the key into the hole, her actions caused Adryan to growl lowly, she obviously ignored him which he didn't seem to like. Jade really didn't know what she was doing, she just did what she thought was right at that moment. She hears the twisting of the key, as the lock snaps open a second later, opening the door, she closes it but doesn't lock it.

"Leave" she hears him say again in a low voice. She could feel his glowing eyes on her, but she didn't look into them, because if she did, all this confidence she was feeling would evaporate into the air.

She kneels before his figure, he was now on his fours instead of his earlier crumpled form, and his leg and backbone start to snap painfully, causing him to let out a growl in pain.

Moving closer to him, she slowly raises her hand, placing it on his cheek that now seemed to grow facial hair, it was smooth under her fingers, she watched in amazement as he transformed more and more each second into his animal form.

"Get-t Away" he manages to say before completing his transformation. Now in his place stood a Lycan with his towering height of seven feet. Jade doesn't waste any time getting her on her feet, her eyes meeting his glowing red ones, she sucks in a breath.

Both of their eyes locked on each other, with his chest heaving up and down as he inhaled in her intoxicating scent. One of his clawed finger which seemed like it could cut through his prey within a swipe of them lifted, and with hesitancy, he moved it towards her face, Jade's eyes closed on their own accord, and his claw move the stray piece of hair that hung in front of her eyes, tucking it behind her ear softly, as if afraid he would end up hurting her.

Bending down, he leans her head on his, their breaths mingling together as tingles spread throughout their bodies at the contact. With her eyes still closed, she stays like that, relishing in the presence of her mate, when suddenly she feels the snapping of bones and hears him groan as he transforms back, now skin replacing the fur.

A smile found her face when she looked down at the little figure hugging her legs, looking down her emerald eyes meet a pair of ocean blue ones that look up at her with his toothy smile.

"Mama", her smile widened more at his words.

Picking up her son, She places a kiss on his cheeks causing him to giggle as he tries to evade her oncoming kisses on his chubby cheeks. "Stop," he says in between his giggles and laughter as she tickles his stomach. Adonis was growing up so fast, as each day passed his speech had been improving, which made her proud as well as miss his adorable baby talks.

"Did you sleep well?" She asks him, her fingers moving away the pieces of midnight locks that seem to have grown longer, his head leaning on her shoulder as he nods his head at his mother's question. It was breakfast time, and as she moved towards the kitchen so that she could get something for Adonis to eat, the doorbell rings, halting her in her actions.

She was confused for a second, seeing as who would be at the door if Adryan wasn't in the house, seeing as it was usually some pack member, Brian or Nathan asking for him, or needing his presence for an emergency pack meeting.

Nonetheless, she moves towards the door, opening it, she’s met with the sight of a young lady standing before her with a smile on her face. "Hi" the girl speaks with a smile still present on her face.

"Hello" Jade replies a bit confused, continuing to speak "How shall I help you?" Adonis is silent whilst still in her arms.

The smile on the girl's faces decreased at Jade's question. “She doesn't remember me?!" Jade hears her mumble to herself under her breath. "Excuse me?" Jade asks, causing the girl to look up at her.

"I- uh- We met once before, three years ago, in the pack kitchen. I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Malia. I am-" Malia is about to speak when Jade completes her sentence, now with a small smile on her face.

"The omega, you help cook at the pack house, I believe?!" Jade asks. Malia blinks her eyes in astonishment, "I- wow, yes. Spot on actually. You do remember me then." She speaks with her earlier smile returning to her face.

"Of course, I do" Jade replies. "Do you need something?” she asks a moment later. Her question seems to bring back Malia to the present. "Oh yes. How foolish of me to forget. The Alpha has requested for your presence at the pack house.”

"Oh" comes Jade's reply, "Is there any problem-" Jade starts to ask with worry lacing her voice when Malia interrupts her.

"No No, The Alpha wanted you to have breakfast with the pack. You should come quickly since everyone is waiting for you.” Malia quickly explains.

"Oh thank God. I thought something bad happened for a second right there. Just wait a minute, I'll join you, and we both could walk back to the pack house." Jade speaks while going back inside the house. Coming back out a minute later with shoes on both her and Adonis’ feet, she closes the door behind her, locking it. Turning, she finds Malia waiting for her.

"Hey, come on. I don't want them to wait any longer for me" Jade says to Malia as they both continue to walk towards the pack house. Adonis now walking beside Jade, his tiny hand clutching hers. The short journey to the pack house is quiet until Malia speaks up.

"You know it's good to finally have you back, the pack has a Luna, an heir, and everything finally seems to fall in place. After you left, everything was so weird around here, Lucia tried to get the Alpha to announce her as his mate, but that didn't go well. Most of the pack members including me didn't know about you being Alpha's mate but we sure felt your absence and then the Alpha sending out search parties to find you were a dead giveaway. " Malia finishes.

Jade silently listened to her rant but something else caught her attention, "Lucia tried to get Adryan to announce herself as the Luna?" she asks curiously, even though Malia just said just that, Jade hoped she'd elaborate further on the matter.

"Well after you left, Lucia tried to seduce the Alpha, in fact, she even claimed that she was pregnant with his child." Malia snorts, "A quick DNA test proved her wrong, she was carrying someone else's child and decided to take advantage of her situation.” Jade couldn't believe that someone could travel such lengths to achieve something.

"Where is she now then? I believe I haven't met her ever since I came back...” Jade trails off.

"About a year ago she finally left for good, before the Alpha could kick her out, she came forward and announced that she was carrying her mate's child and that she would like to leave the pack to go live with her mate in his pack.”

That explained Lucia's absence, but Jade couldn't help but think there was more to the story.
