Alpha Adryan

Chapter fifty six

Jade carries the pile of books in her hands, as she walks towards the house from the pack library. Opening the front door, she realizes that everything was dark inside the house, her brows scrunched in confusion, she thought Adryan might have returned by now after training the new pack members, but she thought wrong as she took in her surroundings. The house was empty it seemed, as Adonis was with Violet, who was happy to entertain the toddler as Jade was busy handling things.

Holding the books with one hand, while the other searches for the light switch. She turns on the living room lights, keeping the books she brought along with her on the table, she moves inside the house. She uses her werewolf senses to guide her. Just as she was about to pass the balcony, suddenly lights lit up outside the balcony door, catching her attention.

Wanting to check it out, she moves towards the door, sliding it open she's awestruck and shocked by the view in front of her. The lights that had initially caught her attention were actually fairy lights, that covered most of the balcony, even the tree branches that extended towards the balcony. The sight in front of her was beautiful and magical, to say the least, at the centre of it all was a small table for two people, covered with a tablecloth and on top of it laid a bottle of wine and food along with cutlery. The thing or rather the person that caused her heart to beat too fast was standing in front of her, she was surprised at his sudden appearance, but the smile on his face made her heart race even more.

Dressed in a brown coloured button-down shirt, with sleeves rolled around his elbows, and black casual pants, with his hair, was messy as if he had been running his finger through them. He looked otherworldly as the lights from the fairy lights illuminated his face.

"What-?" when she manages to find words to question him, as she looked around her surrounding once more,

"Come" her eyes moved to his at that, as he stood in front of her with his hands extended for her to take. Gingerly, she places her hands in his, which he wraps his own hands around as he leads her towards the table set up in the middle of the balcony. As they reach the table, he pulls out the chair for her like a gentleman, making sure that she was seated properly, he moves to sit opposite to her.

Her eyes take in her surrounding once again, to the food in front of her. Her mind trying to comprehend what was happening.

Is this a date?’ she questioned herself with her brows furrowed.

"It is a date,” Adryan says as if reading her mind. Her eyes meet his ocean blue eyes, his eyes taking in her face. He's been watching her as she looked around, and he knew immediately what she was thinking. "Why?" she asks, then realizes her mistake. She didn't want him to think that she didn’t want to be there of her own will. "I didn't mean it like that." she immediately corrects herself.

"I know" he smiles at her. She couldn't take her eyes off him. She felt underdressed in her summer dress and wild hair but Adryan’s gaze on her made her feel beautiful.

"Did you cook this all yourself?" Jade asks as she now took in the plate of food placed before herself. The pasta looked well cooked, with cheese melted on top of it and the aroma of it just made her mouth water with hunger. There was even freshly baked bread kept on the side. As she was studying the food before her, Adryan scooped up pasta from his plate onto a fork, extending it towards her mouth, so that she could taste it. Looking up, she's startled to see the fork full of pasta in front of her. Opening her mouth, he feeds her, and all the while her were on him. She felt warmth spread throughout her at his actions. Her eyes widened as the flavours hit her taste buds, she had to stop herself from moaning in delight.

"To answer your question, I cooked it myself mostly, I had a bit of help,” he says. Happy at her reaction to the food he had cooked. This was the first time he had made an effort to cook for someone else, he had Violet's help as she instructed him on what to do. He was nervous to see her reaction but he was relieved to see her positive reaction to his cooking.

"It's delicious. You need to cook me food more often” she says complimenting him causing him to appear a tiny bit bashful.

Scooping up some on her fork, Jade extends it towards his mouth, surprising him for a moment. She raises one of her eyebrows as if asking him "what he was waiting for’. A small smile played on her lips. They continue eating, occasionally feeding each other, talking, and laughing at stories they shared and found hilarious. For dessert, Adryan had made chocolate cake, keeping it simple. Impressing Jade even further with his cooking skills. Apparently, Adryan was really good at baking cakes.

Now both of them sat sipping on the wine, it was silent for a few moments, as only the chirping of the crickets could be heard. The night air was chilly as the wind blew.

Standing up abruptly, Adryan moves to her side of the table, extending his hand he asks "Would you like to dance?".

"Yes," she replies as she places her hands in his. Playing a soft song on his phone, Adryan leads her to the space on the balcony"

Placing a hand on her waist, he brings her closer to him, with no space between them, causing her breath to hitch at his actions, trailing her hand up his shoulders, she wraps it around his neck while the other one wraps around his arms that it extended on the side. Dancing, twirling and spinning her around as they both laugh and giggle as they accidentally step on each other's toes.

Placing her head on his shoulders, she closes her eyes feeling calm as they both sway side to side. Jade couldn't believe how everything had turned out the way it did. Three years ago, if someone had told her that she would be here, with her mate in his arms, relishing the moment, she would've laughed in their face. It felt like a dream, she felt like she would wake up and realize that she was just dreaming, but she wasn't, she really was here with him, as they had an amazing time together in each other's presence.

"What are you thinking?" he asks her softly, breaking the silence that engulfed their surrounding

Moving back, she faces him, so that he could see that she means each and every word she had said. "I've been thinking how this is everything that I have dreamed once to have".

His eyes look into hers as if searching her emerald green ones if she was telling the truth. He thought his heart had stopped beating for a few seconds when his mind had comprehended her words.

Tipping her head up by placing a finger on her chin, bringing her even close to him, erasing even the minuscule distance between them, he hesitates for a second, he slowly places his soft lips on hers, causing her to close her eyes as sparks fly like no other. They had gotten used to the sparks and the warmth they felt when their skin made contact, but the ones they felt when their lips met each other blew their mind. Moving their lips against each other passionately, her hands trailing up his neck to his messy hair, clutching them in her hands as his hands tightened their hold around her waist. He coaxed her mouth open with his tongue, the kiss turning heated as if every emotion they both had kept locked was let loose at that moment.

Panting for air, they separate for a minute, chest heaving and brushing against each other as they took a lungful of air, their breaths mingling together, their nose touching.

“I love you" the three magical words were whispered softly, his words make her pause, so much so that she thought that she had stopped breathing. Silence follows as she processes his words, her hold on his shirt tightening, and her throat felt heavy all of a sudden as she tried to find words to reply to him, understanding her dilemma, he adds "You don't have to say anything back, Jade".

He moves to pull back from the embrace only for her to stop him, Adryan knew that he had dropped the bomb on her unexpectedly. He didn't feel sad about the fact that she hadn't replied to his confession. Jade doesn't allow him to move away, instead standing on her toes to meet his height, she slams her lips against his, shocking him with her bold actions but a smile curves up his lips as they move against hers once again. Even though she couldn't verbally tell him about her feeling, she wanted her actions to speak for themselves, and for Adryan they were more than enough.
