Chapter Ora • 27
Why didn't she say those three words back to us?
I can't understand her unwillingness.
It's been eating away at me since we all bonded with her last night. It wouldn't have taken but a mere second to usher those words in return to us. Words that I know I long to hear.
Does she not feel the same way toward us?
"Ready to get this started cuz?" Patten rudely interrupts my tortured musings.
We're all here in Pattens old warehouse building for this absurd auction. Jaci is behind the pre made stage waiting along with the other girls to be call forward to be auctioned off for the weekend. She's in the dress that Patten sent over to our home earlier. When she walked out of my bedroom wearing the obscene attire that Patten requested she wear, I was extremely enraged.
He claims it was modest but chic, I call bullshit on that notion. Patten just wanted to push my damn buttons and he definitely got what he wished for. I don't mind her wearing things like that for us but for her to be paraded around in something so demeaning, in front of a bunch of ogling horny men, just fucking pisses me off to no end.
And by the smug look on his fucking face he's obviously enjoying every second of my jealousy. The cocky repulsive bastard!
"Not really." I obnoxiously tell him. Sneering directly down at him.
Ignoring his fleeting looks, I search the crowd of overzealous vying participants, each eager for a beautiful woman on their arms to do whatever they deem viable.
A bunch of horny fucking assholes!
With me at the end of the stage I get full view of everyone entering the building, trying to keep a close eye on whomever may be purchasing or even interested in Jaci.
Asher and Faron are at the other of the stage, casting a close eye at all of the individuals being seated. Cal is in the back, beyond the stage, watching over Jaci from afar but after last nights debacle between Cal and Jaci, I wonder if that's such a great idea on my part.
I heard the entire argument between them, with Max stating his feelings for Cal, just makes things between all of us even more discerning.
I know my little brother is troubled but this shit needs to end quickly. I'm tired of all of the heated debates and adultery. Nothing good can come out of any of it. The only purpose it's serving is hurting Jaci and I'm sick and damn tired of it already.
"I saw her backstage. I must say, you have a fine ass woman there cuz. I'm sure she's gonna bring in a pretty penny for me tonight. Hell! I think I might even be jealous of you!" Patten gloats boastfully with a devious smirk that makes me want to rip those lips right of his disgusting face.
I scoff at his vexing, "You should be jealous. You're nothing but a loser Patten. You couldn't get a woman like her even if you tried!" I voice my opinion about him with unrefined honesty but laced with a lot of extra venom.
"I got her for tonight cuz!" Patten laughs at my unwanted position. "And you my friend will lose her for the entire weekend! Whose the loser now?" Patten walks away from me laughing gleefully.
I want to argue with his last parting remarks but he's absolutely right, I fucked up and with that I will lose her for the entire weekend to some unknown individual, unfortunately.
Fuck!
"My fine extinguished gentlemen of the night. Let's get this auction started shall we?" Patten announces happily facing the audience, from the center of the stage, with a stand up mic in front of him.
Applause vibrates throughout the building from the over eager men in residence that's been eagerly waiting for this shit show to finally get started.
I sneer again just shaking my head at their own fucking stupidity.
As the ladies slowly walk unto the stage, each with heir heads lowered, lining up side by side uneventfully.
Jaci is the fourth person to walk on to the stage, you can tell that she doesn't seem overly enthusiastic about being here. She keeps pulling down the hem of her dress nervously. To me she looks undefinably beautiful.
I just wish others didn't have to see so much of what is mine and my brothers.
I tear my eyes away from her hesitantly, looking across the room at Asher and Faron. They both have the same expression on their faces: regret.
The same exact emotion I'm currently feeling. If it wasn't for me she wouldn't be up there showing off her body like some piece of cattle. I did this to her.
The auction starts off with a tiny statured blonde woman, that looks no taller than a mere child. The auctioneer claims that she is nineteen but she looks so much younger.
The final bid ends up with her being bought for the weekend for an estimated low $15,000.00. Viewing Patten across from me, he doesn't look to happy about the outcome.
The second woman looks more than eager to be here. Her flamboyant charismatic attitude with her bombshell body earns Patten $25,500.00 in total. He seems more than pleased with her purchase.
The third wasn't so lucky, a slightly cute redhead, with slender a figure earns Patten only $10,025.00. By look on his face the redhead will probably be sold off after the weekend to some unknown buyer.
The audacity of Patten is stifling. Most of the men in here tonight our basically the higher ups in the community. Judges, lawyers, and even policemen. It's absolutely repulsive.
Jaci is finally up next. Her graceful but timid steps slightly falter before she makes it up to the front center of the stage. Standing directly beside the auctioneer, she eyes the audience curiously but modestly.
When she catches my eye, the look of sadness on her beautiful face pains me. The remorse and guilt I feel swell up deep within me. I fucking did this.
The auctioneer starts the bidding for Jaci immediately. His baritone voice echoes throughout the warehouse, with every syllable he ushers seals Jacis unwanted fate and all because of me and my actions.
Lost in my own guilt I didn't realize the bidding actually started. When I hear a man from the back loudly bid a very surprising amount, my attention refocuses back on the auction.
"$30,000.00 dollars." The shocked auctioneer smiles at the man's outpouring. Patten flashes me an evil smirk.
"$40,000.00 dollars." Another gentleman from the opposite end of the building shouts out firmly.
I don't recognize the second man but I absolutely recognize the first. None other than DC, the leader of The Widow Makers gang is bidding for my Jaci. Which has me more than suspicious. Why the hell does he want to spend the weekend with Jaci so badly?
"$50,500.00 dollars, DC shouts out from the back." I take a step forward planning to face off with him, demanding to know why exactly why he's trying so damn hard to purchase Jaci but before I can do it the side door slams open with a resounding bang against the buildings walls.
Jacis Uncle Liam, crashes the door unexpectedly. His breathing is erratic as he eyes the stage searching.
How the hell did he even know about the auction?
The other gentleman casts another bid for Jaci. The exorbitant amount now reaching $60,000.00. Jacis Uncle outbids the gentleman raising the bid to whopping $70,500.00.
I hear Jacis gasp from the stage, when I turn my attention to her she's shaking her head vehemently toward her Uncle. Trying to dissuade his bidding.
DC counters the bid yet again, overstepping the balance of Liam's bid for a gross $80,000.00. This is getting beyond ridiculous.
DC has to be up to something? I've known him far too long to think that is just an innocent situation. The man is nothing but fucking devious.
Patten stands beside me with a look of shock and gleefulness plastered on his face. The bastard knew something like this would happen I'm more than positive about it.
The other gentleman that was bidding against DC remains stoutly quiet when the bid reached the unbelievable high amount.
Liam hesitantly raises the bid up to a $85,500.00 dollars. Hopefully stealing the final bid from DC.
Unfortunately DC raises the bid one final time. Sealing the final bid at a staggering one hundred thousand dollars even.
Making everyone in the warehouse stunned at the official amount that DC actually spent for Jaci.
The outcome of the auction is not one I ever envisioned. The extenuating purchase was far beyond what I could even imagine. Especially from a guy like DC. I'm stunned, too frozen in shock to actually move.
Jacis Uncle looks truly demolished by the unwavering outcome, he sighs out dramatically, dropping his head on his chest, he gives Jaci a sorrowful glance and then leaves the building abruptly. Slamming the door as loudly as when he first entered.
I hear Patten clapping his hands and laughing over enthusiastically. Relishing in the aftermath of his winning treasure.
When Patten forcefully slaps me on my back, I finally fade back into reality regrettably.
His obnoxious attitude is making this ordeal even more regrettable.
I don't give him a chance to gloat, edging my way around the stupid ass, I take off to find my Jaci. Hopefully, if I'm able to beg enough maybe she can find it in her heart to actually forgive me for being such a stupid ass mate.
Before I'm able to reach my destination Asher and Faron stop my progress both of them are standing in front of me giving me precise evil glares. Of course they blame me, hell, I blame myself entirely.
Faron being the braver of the two steps up to me, "You did this! Now that stupid mother fucker gets her for an entire weekend and we just have to sit back and take it! You know how vindictive DC is, we have to stop this!" I take my lashings from Faron because I know I ultimately deserve it.
He can't make me feel any worse about this unfortunate predicament that I already fucking do.
"I know!" I grit out pushing my way around them, I hear their footsteps as they follow behind me all of us overly anxious to see Jaci.
Spotting her standing beside Cal, both of their postures tell me neither of them are happy over the outcome of the auction.
Join the fucking club!
My steps falter as I draw closer to them. Cal flinches when he sees me, noticing Cals apparent dissatisfaction Jaci turns her attention to me, her eyes reflecting what I already presumed I would see in them: displeasure.
Faron and Asher walk past me when they reach Jaci they both wrap her up into their embraces. Jaci lowers her head as soon as they envelope her. Before she lowered her head I caught a glimpse of the track of tears falling down he rosy cheeks. Seeing them only makes my guilt intensify.
I only have six days.
Six days before she has to go with DC for the fucking weekend.
Six days for me to some how earn her forgiveness.
Six days for me to figure out just exactly how I'm going to be able to get her out of this bullshit scheme.
As deep as my guilt flows within me, my love for her flows even deeper. I will find a way to get her out of this.
Gradually I make my way over to the group, my eyes never straying away from Jaci. The second I get close enough to her, to have her within my grasp, DC invades our private moment.
He obnoxiously clears his throat from behind us, we all turn in his direction, eyeing the bastard evilly. Jaci pokes her head through Faron and Asher that are still holding her fiercely.
I walk behind Jaci, removing her form Faron's and Asher's grasp, I carefully pull her body against me. Watching DC, he smirks at my over protectiveness, his gaze roaming over Jacis body heatedly.
Showing me exactly what his true intentions are for her, unexpectedly. From viewing his heated gaze I am now more than ever determined to get Jaci out of this shit I unwittingly landed her in.
DC ignore ours glares, reaching into his pocket he pulls out a tiny white card, slowly walking over to us he stops in front of my brothers. Searching their faces, he gives them a half laugh with a sneaky snide smirk.
The asshole is nothing but egotistical.
DC tilts his head, looking in between Faron and Asher he pushes his hand through them offering Jaci the little white card.
"Here's my information doll. I will have a car pick you up Friday at your residence. Pack light, you won't be needing much." He informs Jaci while handing her the card, she tentatively takes the card from his fingers, flipping the card over she reads the engraving on it suspiciously.
DC cocks his brow at us, hesitantly turning on his heels, he starts to walk away but before he turns to leave us all completely he looks back over shoulder, "Oh and don't think about backing out of this. I paid good money for an entire weekend and I plan on enjoying every second of it." He winks at Jaci, giving her a long leer before he exits the backstage door.
The silence between us after his departure is torture. All of us lost in our crippling thoughts.
Asher breaks the silence, growling in frustration, he turns to me with his eyebrows furrowed, "I've seen that guy before I just can't remember from where!" His frustration is more than evident, he combs his fingers through his hair sighing out loudly.
Asher is the only one of us who has never met DC before. Him being the youngest of us we try our best to keep him away from certain conflicts that arise within the gang. I'm not surprised he may have recognized DC though, DC is a well known figure amongst our community. The fucker has been around for years. Tormenting, torturing, and killing anyone who has ever been stupid enough to have gotten in his way.
Pushing those thoughts aside, my main focus, for now, is for Jaci. Looking down at the top of her head I place my hands on her slender shoulders, massaging them tenderly.
"Jaci." I drag her name out, trying to get her to focus amiably on me. She steps away from my touch leaving me feeling hollow.
Jaci gently placed her hands on Faron and Asher's biceps before she gingerly walks away from all of us, ignoring me completely.
She walks into a side changing room, slamming the door behind her. I stare at the closed door with a profound sense of remorse and doom.
Taking two steps toward the closed door, Cal stops me before I can go any further, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"Just give her time man. We'll talk to her when we get home." Seeing Cals disposition, I know that I have to let it go for now but I truly hate doing it.
Eventually nodding my head slightly, growling out aggressively, I stop my compulsive behavior.
I understand her needing some time to adjust to her unfortunate circumstances. I just wish she didn't have to deal with any of this fucking shit in the first place.
All. My. Fucking. Fault.
Patten excitedly walks into the backstage area counting out money that's in his hands. When he finally reaches us, the smile plastered on his face is nothing but unnerving.
"Here's ya cut cuz." Patten slides the money in an envelope trying to hand it to me. I sneer at the envelope, keeping silent. Cals the one who grabs it from his grasp forcibly.
In my view it's nothing but blood money. I never asked or expected anything from any of this. Pattens only doing it to show off his superiority.
"Nice doing business with ya, maybe we can do it all again next year? Your mate is definitely a prize!" Patten cheerfully boasts.
"I don't fucking think so!" Faron rudely remarks, glaring at Patten menacingly. Patten just shrugs his shoulders at Faron's forwardness, giving each of us a final smirk before he turns to leave whistling a happy tune.
The bastard.
"Can I kill him now?" Asher pleads aggressively. I give him a sly smirk.
He's not the only one eager to put an end to Pattens revolting life. I would gladly do so without hesitation if I knew it would even be worth doing it. In my opinion Patten isn't even worth the time I have to commit to doing such an act in the first place. He's just a waste of space and a complete waste of my fucking time.
Jaci finally makes her appearance a few minutes after Pattens departure. She closes the door quietly behind her, now dressed in ripped jeans and a crimson red crop top shirt. She gives a sad look as she stands in front of the door.
"Ready?" Asher ask her gently, he walks up beside her grasping his hand into hers. She graciously takes it nodding her head to him silently.
"Sweet cheeks." I drag out my sentiments again, eyeing her closely. Taking a figurative step toward her.
She turns from me, pulling Asher's arm then starts walking away from me purposely. Disregarding my pleas entirely.
Cal and Faron both come to stand beside me, each patting me on my back in sympathy. I watch Jaci and Asher exit the backstage regretfully.
"Just be patient she will come around." Faron assured me.
I'm not so sure she actually will though. What I've done to her can hardly be forgiven so easily.
I don't even know if I can forgive myself!
