Chapter 70
Chapter 70 Jealousy
Rachel's expression had changed drastically, going from delight to extreme displeasure.
She clenched her fists tightly while glaring at Leah with jealousy that was almost overflowing from within her.
She had relentlessly pursued the man she desired but had been rejected multiple times. Yet, he was treating another woman with such tenderness and consideration. She found that totally unacceptable. Rachel's jealousy grew as she continued to watch, and her face turned darker by the second. She marched determinedly toward Ethan and pointed at Leah before questioning pointedly, "Mr. Ethan Wilson, who is she?"
Her accusatory tone made Ethan furrow his brow, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
He had initially wanted to reveal Leah's identity to Rachel. However, considering that not a lot of people knew what Leah looked like, as well as the fact that Leah wanted to keep her identity hidden, he played along.
Instead of telling Rachel that Leah was his sister, he chose to answer, "She's my companion for the evening."
"Companion?"
Mention of Leah being his female companion immediately reminded Rachel of all the times she had proposed to be Ethan's companion, only to be rejected.
Her gaze toward Leah became even more hostile, and her words carried clear animosity.
"Mr. Ethan Wilson, didn't you say before that you didn't need a companion? Why have you brought someone else tonight? Did you change your mind?"
Rachel's hostile gaze and confrontational tone indicated that she saw Leah as a rival for Ethan's affections. Thus, Leah immediately sensed Rachel's interest in her older brother. However, Ethan didn't seem particularly interested in Rachel.
Upon realizing that, Leah leaned closer to Ethan and asked in a voice that only they could hear, "Ethan, it seems like this lady likes you. What do you feel about her? Do you like her?" Ethan furrowed his brows and responded in a slightly annoyed tone, "She's just a business partner's daughter, nothing more. I don't have any special feelings for her." Leah nodded knowingly. "I see."

However, since he wasn't interested, it seemed like Rachel wasn't welcome, nor was she a good match for Ethan.
Seeing that Rachel had mistaken her for a rival, she figured she might as well play along and turn her down on her brother's behalf.
Therefore, Leah looped her arm around Ethan's and smiled at Rachel, whose face was still filled with jealousy.
"With me here, Mr. Ethan Wilson doesn't need any other companions. And besides, I'm not just anyone."
With that, she turned to Ethan and said, "Shall we go?"
Ethan replied gently, "Sure."
As they left in unison, Rachel's jealousy and resentment erupted. She stomped her foot and let out a frustrated scream.
"Ahhh, you wretched woman!"
Leah heard the outburst and shook her head lightly.
"This young lady doesn't seem to have a good temperament. She's got a short fuse. With such a
temperament, I don't think she's
suitable to be my sister-in-law."
Ethan chuckled softly. "I never had any intentions to go there with her, to begin with."
"I thought you'd prefer a more
graceful and refined lady," Leah teased "But seriously, Brother, you're not getting any younger When are you going to bring a wife home to keep me company?"
Ethan sighed lightly. "Mom nags me about it, and now you're doing the same?"
"I'm just concerned for you!" Leah laughed. "Tell me, when will you bring a wife home?"
