After Losing Our Baby I Cried and He Went Crazy

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Just before he died, Oliver’s tiny hand elutehed mine, his breathing faint.

“Mommy, where’s Daddy? Didn’t he promise to be here with me?”

Choking back tears, I soothed him.

“Ollie, sweetie, Daddy will be here soon.”

But I knew in my heart that Chris would not come.

Thirty missed calls had already told me everything.

As Oliver’s breathing grew weaker, his heartbeat nearly inaudible, tears streamed down his face, his voice thick with

hurt.

“Mommy, Daddy isn’t coming. He hates me.”

I froze for a moment, then could no longer hold back my tears.

He knew everything..

Chris’s impatience with me, his dismissive attitude towards him, his indifference to our home…

It was my fault for not giving him a complete family.

I pushed Chris away.

“It doesn’t matter anymore, he can’t hear you.”

Looking at my ashen face, Chris finally panicked.

The overwhelming sense of loss he had failed to grasp before now flooded over him, clear that he was about to lose

  1. me.

Perhaps he had already lost me long ago.

“Ashley, please believe me. I really didn’t mean to skip out on being with Oliver that day. I won’t touch this land anymore. Let’s give Oliver a proper burial and then come back with me, okay?”

I closed my eyes, tears silently sliding down.

“No need. Chris, let’s get a divorce, please.”

Chris yelled desperately.

“That’s impossible! Ashley, I promise I won’t make mistakes again. Whatever you say goes from now on. Can you forgive me, please?”

Wouldn’t make mistakes?

Five years of torment were all dismissed with a trivial admission of a mistake.

But not all mistakes could be forgiven.

I was exhausted.

I no longer had the energy to keep entangling with him.

In the end, I held Oliver’s urn and left that land where I had lived since childhood.

Whether it was the deceased Oliver or the ruined of my old home, from then on, Chris and I had nothing left worth remembering.
