Chapter Divorcing 419
Chapter 419 Intervention
Michael's phone, long blocked by Chloe, was now a dead end for communication.
"Do you really think I'm unaware of your divorce with Chloe?"
A flicker of surprise crossed Michael's eyes. He hadn't anticipated Admas had known about his divorce from Chloe.
Seeing no denial from Michael, Admas was furious.
He raised his cane, striking Michael. "You want to infuriate me to death, don't you? I haven't visited Lotus Manor to see Chloe for just a few weeks, and you've divorced her!"
The blow landed hard on Michael's back, pain searing through him.
"Grandpa, it was her decision to divorce."
"She wants a divorce, and you just let her go? Are you a fool? Chloe's mother passed away not even seven days ago, but you're divorcing her. Do you have any conscience left?" Michael felt annoyed when Admas scolded him.
"She wants a divorce. Can I force her to stay with me?"
"If you hadn't caused her so much pain, would she have left you? You've committed so many foolish acts. Aren't you aware?"
Admas was visibly furious and rubbed his chest in agitation.
"Sir Shawn, please calm down!"
Simeon was worried and comforted Admas.
"Bring Chloe back to me at once. Do you hear me?" Admas demanded.
Michael kept silent. He desired to be together with Chloe, but she had slapped him two hours ago.
"Grandpa, the divorce was her choice. Even if I want to remarry her, she is reluctant. What more can I do?"
Michael felt the sting of injustice.
"What should you do? You're the general manager of Paramount Airlines and take charge of Shawn Heavy Industries, but you ask me what to do? You've even lost your own wife! You're truly capable!" Every word Admas said was laced with sharp wit, each syllable piercing the air with a palpable intensity.
His speech was designed to tug at the heartstrings of Michael.
"I don't care. Chloe is your wife I've chosen. If you can't win her back, you will no longer be my grandson from today, and you needn't return to Shawn Manor." With those words, Admas sighed helplessly.
In his heart, Admas lamented that his only grandson, whom he had once believed to be a paragon of virtue, was now revealed to be a fool in matters of love. Michael didn't expect Admas to have such an extreme stance.
He wondered if Admas was his grandfather.
Otherwise, why did Admas disown him so easily because of Chloe?
Aware of the fact that Admas was stubborn, Michael changed the subject. "Grandpa, let's eat first."
After all, Admas was aged and fragile.
"Your wife is gone, but you're still thinking of eating? Don't eat. There's no food left for you here."
Admas was too angry to care whether Michael had dinner or not.
Ultimately, Michael left Shawn Manor in disgrace.
As he departed, Simeon approached Admas. "Sir Shawn, should we inform the rest of the family that Mr. Shawn has divorced Mrs. Shawn?"
Admas had a headache and waved his hand. "Keep it secret for now. Let's see if Michael can bring Chloe back."
He hoped the divorce was a fleeting impulse.
Beyond his fondness for Chloe, he believed Michael was blind.
The news of Michael's divorce would not bode well for the Shawn family or Paramount Airlines.
"Find out where Chloe lives after divorce," Admas instructed.
Simeon bowed slightly, "Yes, Sir Shawn."
Admas frowned. If Michael failed to win Chloe back, it would fall upon him, the elder, to intervene. His worry was evident.
