Chapter 353 I'm Pursuing You

Chloe read the note over carefully while getting it. "I hope you keep your word. I want to wake up tomorrow and see the numbers on my card back to normal." After saying that, she put the note into her bag and got up to leave.

Michael just looked deeply at Owen. He didn't say anything and followed Chloe.

Lucy leaned on Owen's shoulder, still sobbing silently. But she stared in the direction Michael had disappeared, her eyes filled with resignation.

On the way back, Michael had been sitting in the backseat and smiling at Chloe.

It made Chloe feel horrible.

"Why are you looking at me?"

She thought, "What happened to my face?"

"How did I just behave?" asked Michael.

"What?"

Chloe didn't understand what he was saying.

"I didn't defend Lucy anymore, and I was totally on your side!"

Chloe was stunned.

She thought, "So what?

Does he need me to stroke his head and compliment him?"

"Shouldn't you reward me then?"

"If you hadn't just taken the card out, it wouldn't have happened today!"

Chloe thought, "He actually wants me to reward him?"

Michael became sad to hear this.

He thought, "Well, she's right. It was indeed an oversight on my part."

"The Opal Group will be hosting a party in a couple of days. I'll have the dresses delivered to the home. I'll go back to pick you up then."

If he didn't mention it, Chloe almost forgot.

"No, I'll just drive myself there."

"Then let's go back to Shawn Manor for dinner tomorrow."

"I have something tomorrow. I'm afraid I can't."

Michael was rejected several times in a row, and his demeanor immediately went cold.

He took a deep breath. "I'll pick you up from work then."

Afraid that she would refuse again, he immediately added, "No refusal!"

Chloe didn't know what to say.

She thought, "Can't I stay by myself?

I'm pregnant. I'm afraid I'll reveal myself if I stay with him too long."

Michael was always a bit skeptical about Chloe's work.

"Why did you go to Bright Moon International as a cybersecurity researcher? What is your research on the Internet?"

Chloe's breath paused for a moment. She winked and said, "It's a job Candy set me up with. I've learned something from her."

Michael did not doubt this reason. But he said with some concern, "Learn less of this stuff from Candy."

"On what grounds?"

Chloe was like a bad-tempered cat that got angry easily.

"Take it easy. I just don't think it's a very safe business, and I don't want you to take any risks."

His patient explanation lowered the displeasure in Chloe's heart slightly.

"I'm enjoying my current job. Don't bother."

Michael felt bad as he watched the way she was always pushing herself away from him.

The next day, Chloe went to Bright Moon International early in the morning.

Going inside the building, she went down to get a cup of hot chocolate.

Then, she saw the workers on the elevator.

She paused for a moment, watching them enter the elevator and following suit.

It was when the elevator reached the given floor, and the workers moved the billboard out that she saw the front of the billboard clearly. She thought, "Isn't this the same commercial I temporarily shot with James last time?

James actually made a billboard this big and sent it here?"

Chloe pushed open the door to James' office without hesitation.

James was wearing an athleisure jacket today, full of wildness.

Seeing her come in, he immediately put his hands behind his head and leaned on them, asking her, "Did you see the billboard today?"

"It's hard to not see it."

"I made it just for you."

Chloe thought something was wrong with him.

"The billboard will be scrolling on the screens of every major mall in the entire city. Do you think your husband will see it?"

Chloe raised her eyebrows slightly. "Is this your idea?"

"Yes. I've got a good idea, don't I?"

James was still smiling, sly and smug.

"Did you do it on purpose?"

James nodded. "Right. I'm going to let Michael know that I'm pursuing you."
