Chapter Divorcing 351
Chapter 351 Repay
If Chloe hadn't mentioned that Lucy wouldn't meet up unless Michael invited her, he wouldn't have taken the initiative to ask Lucy out for dinner.
Both arrived at the designated meeting place on time.
Chloe immediately spotted Lucy in a white dress, sitting at the corner of the café by the window.
At the sight of Michael, Lucy's face lit up.
But as soon as she noticed Chloe walking in behind him, her expression soured.
Chloe sat boldly across from her, observing her every move intently.
It felt like a showdown between the lady of the house and the mistress.
"Michael, Chloe, why did you ask me out today... is there something you want to talk about?"
Seeing Lucy's pitiful expression, Chloe wanted to laugh.
She thought, "Why is Lucy still pretending to be innocent even at this point?"
"If you're here to ask about my plans to go abroad, I'm sorry to say I can't leave for now!"
"I'm not here about you going abroad. If you did leave, who would repay the money?"
Lucy choked, her expression turning awkward.
"Chloe, I have no idea what you're talking about."
She knew Chloe was there about the card.
Lucy genuinely didn't know how much her mom had spent.
Chloe didn't bother explaining and pulled out the transfer and withdrawal records from her bag, which clearly showed the transactions. "Take a good look. These are all the withdrawals you've made in the past year. Don't blame me for accusing you unjustly."
Lucy glanced at the papers on the table, then at Michael sitting silently opposite her, tears welling up.
"Michael, do you also think I spent this money?"
"The card was in your possession."
Michael's response was concise, not confirming nor denying.
But the truth was right there.
"Lucy, there's a total of 46 million and 50 thousand dollar in this card. Considering that you've been keeping the card for me all these years, I'll round it down to 46 million. Every cent must be returned." After retrieving the card from Tiffany, Lucy already knew there was significantly less money left in it. But when she heard the specific amount Chloe mentioned, her face was still filled with disbelief. She couldn't fathom that Tiffany had lost so much money in just a year.
Before returning to the country, Tiffany had promised Lucy not to gamble again until she paid off her previous debts and they could live a good life together.
She never imagined Tiffany had been deceived from the start.
Tiffany never stopped gambling.
Whether offline or online, she was always gambling on her phone.
"Michael, I truly didn't know the card would be used for so much. I always kept it at home. Maybe my mom used it."
Lucy couldn't possibly repay that much money.
She could only choose to act pitiful and innocent.
"Whether it was you or your mom who used it, it's your family's matter. I only care about when you'll repay the money. If you don't, I'll involve the police." Chloe showed no mercy, not even wanting to hear her excuses.
With tearful eyes, Lucy looked at Michael, hoping he would say something in her defense.
But Michael didn't stand by her side. He simply handed Chloe a glass of lemon water to calm her down.
"Chloe, I don't have that much money at the moment. How about a payment plan? I'll transfer money to you every month on time!"
Chloe smiled coldly, "No.
"It's either pay in full or involve the police directly."
Upon hearing this, Lucy couldn't hold back her tears. "Chloe, I didn't mean to spend the money. I'll repay it, please don't be so ruthless."
Chloe was about to retort that if Lucy hadn't used her money, she wouldn't have had this opportunity to be ruthless.
But before she could speak, a figure rushed over beside her.
Upon closer inspection, it was Owen.
