He had overheard her and found it laughable.

"I'm laughing at how foolish she is," he said.

Lucy interfered in others' relationships under the guise of friendship, yet she acted innocently.

Owen frowned. Although he also thought Lucy was acting foolishly regarding Michael, he didn't like others criticizing her.

"What's it to you? Mind your own business," he said.

Quinn looked at him indifferently. "You're foolish too."

"A mistress and a lapdog. What do you think I mean?" Quinn replied.

Owen clenched his fists, ready to strike. Lucy abruptly stood up from her chair and ran out.

Owen quickly followed her.

Quinn's friend patted his shoulder. "Was that someone you know?"

"No. Got something else to do. I'm out," Quinn said.

He thought for a moment and left his friend behind in the tavern.

Lucy ran to the rooftop. By the time Owen caught up with her, she was already at the edge.

The evening wind was strong, billowing her clothes.

Like a kite with a broken string, she could fall at any second.

Owen tried reasoning with her for over an hour to no avail. Finally, he mentioned calling Michael.

Chloe took two steps forward.

Owen grabbed Chloe's arm, pulling her back.

The strong force caused Chloe to grunt in pain.

Michael took a couple of steps forward, frowning at Owen.

"She's Lucy's sister. It's right for her to come," he said.

"The wind is strong here, enough to wake her up from the effects of alcohol."

Owen froze, realizing it had been over two hours since they arrived on the rooftop.

Lucy didn't drink much, so she should already be sober by now.

He knew Lucy's tolerance.

Lucy stood at the edge of the rooftop, stiffening at Chloe's words.
