The clock on the wall ticked slowly, approaching ten in the evening. Michael grew restless.
Lucy noticed his desire to return to Chloe's side, but she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
Michael's phone buzzed with a notification.
He retrieved it, and his face contorted as he read the message.
His fingers, clutching the phone, turned white.
Lucy rubbed her eyes, looking at him with confusion. "Michael, what's with that expression? Is something wrong?"
Her voice pulled him back to reality.
He put away his phone and stood up. "I have some work to attend to at the company. I'll head back now. Get some rest and let the nurse check on you again tomorrow." "Alright, then. Drive safely."

Michael drove back to Lotus Manor. Chloe had already finished dinner with Admas and was upstairs, working on her laptop.
Before she could finish, the bedroom door was flung open. Michael strode in without even removing his shoes.
Seeing her engrossed in her work, he realized his agitation and took a deep breath to calm himself.
"When did you get back?" he asked.
Chloe didn't look up. "I took a car straight home after you dropped Lucy off at the hospital."
Michael had intended to give her a chance.
If she told him the truth, no matter the reason, he would let it go and pretend nothing had happened.
But Chloe's indifferent attitude and continued deception
infuriated him.
"You're lying."
Chloe paused and turned to face him.
He showed me the text messages he had just received. There were a few photos of Chloe and Quinn together, taken from a very misleading angle that made it appear as if they were huddled in a back alley, intimately engaged in conversation.
