Michael opened his mouth to say something, but his phone vibrating on the bedside table interrupted him.

He thought, "Who would be calling at this hour?"

He turned on the bedside lamp, furrowing his brow as he sat up in bed.

Glancing at the phone screen, he pressed the answer button.

"Yeah, okay, I got it."

Not many people would call him at this time of night.

Chloe's first thought was Lucy.

After hanging up and preparing to get out of bed, Chloe became more certain that it was Lucy.

She frowned and asked coldly, "Was that Lucy on the phone? Are you leaving now? Are you not afraid Admas will get angry?"

She thought, "He used Admas to tie me and act with him for a

year.

Yet he could go see Lucy anytime and anywhere.

There was no such truth!"

Michael heard her question and turned to her, saying, "I am not leaving, just going downstairs to get something."

He thought, "I had only answered a phone call, yet she managed to imagine so much drama herself?"

Chloe's eyes were scrutinizing until the bedroom door was knocked on.

He got out of bed to open it, taking something from a servant, and then he walked back in.

Only then did Chloe clearly.see that he was holding some daily necessities and some luggage she had left at Lotus Manor.

"I will be staying with Grandpa for a while, so I asked someone to send over some of the things you usually use," he explained kindly, which made Chloe feel uneasy. "I do not need your pretense right now."

Chloe thought, "He was not unable to think about these details; rather, he had been unwilling to address them for the past three

years.

The more he treated me well now, the more carefully he cared for me.

It only reminded me of how humbled I felt in the past three years."

Hearing her nonchalant tone, Michael also felt somewhat helpless.

"Could you not speak so aggressively?"

"Then why do you not find someone who does not talk too aggressively?" Chloe was quite irritated.

"You know very well that is not what I meant. There is no need to push me away like this."

He had been unaware of the things Lucy had done to Chloe before, which had indeed led to misunderstandings.

Early the next morning, Chloe came downstairs feeling refreshed, only to see Michael sitting at the dining table with a stern face. Admas sat beside him, also looking displeased.

It was obvious that Admas knew what happened yesterday.

However, Chloe pretended not to know and took her seat at the dining table.

Admas quickly changed his expression and kindly asked how she had slept the night before.
