"Chloe?" he called after her, but she didn't respond, clearly still upset.

Michael couldn't concentrate on the game anymore.

"Wait, wait!" he said, pausing the game before picking up his phone from the floor.

At that moment, Candy came down from her shower and nearly bumped into Chloe as she rushed past, sensing her friend was

upset.

She looked at Chloe and immediately knew something was

wrong.

Turning to the two men on the sofa, she adopted a serious expression. "What did you two do to upset Chloe? Spill it!"

James raised his hands defensively. "It's not my fault! Chloe got mad after reading his message." Candy frowned. "What message?"

Michael, having read the message himself, also frowned.

James leaned in to see. "You're still in contact with that crazy

woman?"

Candy had thought that Lucy had realized she was out of the picture and had gone into hiding. She couldn't believe she was resurfacing now.

"Is she insane? We've crossed the ocean, and she still manages to track you down?!"

Candy had never encountered someone so shameless.

Seeing Lucy's name, Michael immediately blocked her number and deleted it.

A look of tension crossed his face as he glanced at the stairs where Chloe had gone. Without hesitation,

he rushed upstairs to follow her.

He knocked on the bedroom door and tried to push it open. It wouldn't budge!

His voice was laced with anxiety. "Chloe, I didn't know that was her number! It must be her new phone. I've blocked her; please don't be mad!"

Chloe had gone upstairs intentionally.

Technically, she and Michael were divorced now, so who he chose to contact shouldn't concern her. But it was Lucy.

"I promise she won't come here to bother you," Michael assured her.

But Chloe didn't take his word seriously. After all, Lucy was a real person. If she found her way here, could Michael really make her disappear?

After taking a shower, Chloe emerged to find her phone vibrating incessantly.
