“He’s closed the call”, said Vicky. “I would guess that Swan will be getting the STUs and making his way down here. It might be a good idea to get prepared.”
Gabriel looked at Sara and Zackery. They were looking horrified at what they had heard.
Ginny was still asleep in the med unit; her legs being re-built, with several hours still to go.
“If we got back to Earth, we could contact the media, tell them ...,” said Zackery.
“ACME INC would find us first,” said Sara. She looked close to tears.
“We’d need to be careful,” agreed Zackery.
“Would it be better if you two split up when you got back?” asked Gabriel.
Sara looked at Gabriel in horror. Zackery reached across to her and took hold of her hand.
She gripped it hard.
Gabriel walked across to the drinks dispenser and poured himself a cup of water. He noticed that his hand was trembling slightly. He made a conscious effort to steady his hand. He knew full well the benefits of looking calm in stressful situations.
“Are there any space-craft docked at the moment,” Gabriel asked.
Sara looked at Zackery. He shrugged his shoulders.
“There is still the one we arrived on,” said Vicky. “It’s still docked on stub 12.”
“Ok, then,” Gabriel said. “I suggest that we wait for Swan to give us the STUs. Tell him we need to wait for a bit for Ginny’s re-growth process to finish. Then we say we’ll use the STUs to get where we’re going.”
“But ...,” Sara said.
“Then we’ll get down to the ship, drop you guys off on the Earth, then Ginny and me will ... well ... we’ll think of something.”
