“This is where and when it should be,” Vicky said.

Gabriel checked the board outside the registry office. There was no mention of a wedding that day.

“I’ll go inside and check,” he said.

Ginny stood outside. There was no-one about, certainly no-one running up the street, late for a very important date.

“They have no bookings for anyone with that name,” said Gabriel, looking very worried.

“Maybe they called it off,” Ginny said.

“Yeah ... maybe,” Gabriel said.

Ginny scanned the street again.

“Maybe we fucked it up for them,” Gabriel said.

“It looks like something went wrong ... something changed,” Ginny said.

Gabriel looked about.

Ginny could sense an air of panic in him.

A realisation that for all their ‘it should be alright ... that’s what we came here to do in the first place’ talk, maybe they really had screwed it up.

“Let’s go back earlier,” Ginny said. “Let’s try and see what happened.”

“Ok,” Gabriel said, with a sense of hopelessness.
