Chapter Epilogue
She had burnt up a significant amount of time in travelling back. Ordinarily returning to Dolak would take months from Glakyrie. She had managed it in a matter of days. Her Empress would repay her in kind – of that she was sure.
“My Mother...” She bowed low before the tall, slender figure atop the staircase. The Empress, bathed in shadow and swathed in many layers of dark blue silk reached out her hand to beckon her loyal servant forward.
“I have brought you two of the five.” She breathed – being this close to her was an honour in itself.
She held out a mocha coloured hand - intricately tattooed in black – to receive them. Her servant bowed her dark head as she placed them in her hand and the two of them watched as the amulets glowed and pulsed; sensing their sister that the Empress had hung around her neck. In a voice as serene as sunset she whispered:
“You have done well Juniper Cholden, my dark assassin. Soon Acclayne shall see a new mother.”
