Chapter 6 Returning to the Top of the Modeling Industry
“Of course not, it’s not time yet!” Kevin knew Lilian’s plan and handed her his phone. However, Lilian didn’t avoid suspicion and pressed the answer button in front of Kevin.
“Lilian, where are you now?”
“I’m hiding because I’m afraid reporters will find me,” Lilian calmly replied.
“So you don’t know about Sylvia?” Brent asked patiently.
“What happened to Sylvia? I’m in a remote location so I have no way of knowing what’s happening outside. What happened?” Lilian tried to sound curious.
“Thanks to your agent, Rainer Entertainment is in big trouble now. Come back to the company and I’ll arrange a press conference for you. Only you can explain things clearly and clear Rainer Entertainment’s name.”
What kind of press conference was this? Did they want to frame her again?
Did they think she was still that foolish?
Lilian sarcastically hung up the phone but suddenly Kevin spoke up: “I’ve saved your number on my phone. Tell me your whereabouts anytime and let me know what you’re planning.”
“Thank you, Kevin…”
“You called me by the wrong name…” Kevin put down his legs crossed together and pulled her towards him. “Call me something else…otherwise I won’t let you go.”
Blushing, Lilian awkwardly whispered: “Husband.” But it made Kevin show a rare smile.
“I’ll take you back to Rainer Entertainment. And remember what you promised me…no more physical contact with any other man.”
Lilian knew what he meant and gave him an appeasing smile that showed how much she wanted his trust between them unspoken but understood.
After forty minutes on the road, Kevin had already taken Lilian near Rainer Entertainment Company since he was after all an emperor within ******** circles who knew everything
and make a comeback in the modeling world.
Lilian also understood that this was a game where her enemies were visible while she remained hidden. If she couldn’t change things by reshuffling, then she would live in failure
for the rest of her life.
After getting off Kevin’s private car, Lilian entered the company through a secret passage. Rainer Entertainment employees saw her and filled with various forms of contempt, disdain, and ridicule as if they had already concluded that Sylvia’s exposure was all planned by Lilian
herself.
Ignoring them completely, Lilian pushed open Brent’s office door from behind and looked at his tall figure.
“You’re back…” Brent turned around and tried to restrain himself as much as possible.
“What happened exactly?”
“Lilian, do you really not know what happened to Sylvia?” Brent threw the newspaper in front of her angrily. “If it wasn’t for your instructions, how could a small agent like Sylvia dare to do such a thing?”
“Brent, we’re getting married soon. Why would I do something like this? Wouldn’t that be pushing you away myself?” Lilian looked aggrieved with tears choking up her voice.
“What about wearing Crown Star on your ankle during hf jewelry show?
As Lilian looked at Brent’s questioning, she thought of how he had defended Hillary countless times in the past. She used to think that Brent was only trying to protect his fledgling career, so she willingly endured the injustice and let Brent defend others. But now she realized that all he wanted to protect was just Hillary alone.
“At the time, I couldn’t wear the Crown Star on my head. Besides choosing to wear it on my ankle, there was no other way. Hillary’s assistant was also present; you can ask him,” Lilian
explained.
“I’ve already asked Hillary’s assistant about it, and he said everything was your own idea…” Brent pressed on relentlessly.
“Brent, I’m your fiancée. Do you really believe a stranger over me?” Lilian pretended to be disappointed as she observed Brent’s expression further. “Yesterday…was supposed to be our
wedding day.”
“Regardless of what happened, we’re already facing consequences now. HF has sued us for breach of contract and because of your agent’s actions, public criticism against Rainer Entertainment is growing louder by the day. You have to take responsibility for this,” Brent
said condescendingly with a god–like expression.
“You’ll soon be my wife; I don’t want my wife causing harm to my career.” He continued persuading her: “Lilian, for the sake of preserving Rainer Entertainment’s reputation, you. also have an obligation to come forward and explain clearly that this is just your agent trying to stir up trouble and has nothing do with Rainer Entertainment…”
“Saying Sylvia is stirring up trouble or admitting that I am doing it myself makes no difference! Every time it’s because you called me asking me rashly go out there instead of Hillary!” Lilian cried out loud: “Brent! Just because I’m going marry you doesn’t mean I
should be sacrificed!”
“I don’t care. If you’re recognized, it’s your responsibility,” Brent said harshly. He realized he
might have gone too far and quickly softened his tone, trying to hug Lilian, but she pushed him away uncontrollably.
“Lilian, I’m also anxious…and this is the only time. After we get married, I’ll treat you even better…” Brent tried to persuade her again.
Indeed, Lilian gradually stopped crying and tried to look at this man as before. But after Leaving Brent’s office, all that could be seen in her eyes was indifference.
She couldn’t forget about the scumbag immediately; however, she would definitely remain
loyal to her choice and not bear any more blame for what Brent did wrong in the future.
Thinking of this, she returned to her resting room and called her agent: “Sylvia, Brent wants
me to be a scapegoat.”
“Haha! Lilian! Just tell me what should we do?” Sylvia sounded full of fighting spirit on the
other end of the phone.
“At three o’clock this afternoon, I will publicly apologize and admit that it was a publicity stunt. Then…you anonymously release intimate photos of Brent and Hillary taken at the
hospital…”
“Haha! Great idea! And I’ve come up with an excellent headline: ‘Explosive News! Rainer
Entertainment CEO Caught Cheating The Scumbag Index Revealed!“”
Lilian laughed along with Sylvia’s joke but still apologized: “I’m sorry Sylvia; I’ve caused trouble for you.”
“Lilian if you decide to start over again then I will help you regain your position as number one model or even become an international supermodel!”
