Chapter Epilogue IV

My lips parted from my mate's, and the scent of strong vanilla mingled with freshly cut herbs left with her. The thought of her travelling away from us, even for a few hours to a Gaia's Blessing - a wiccan baby shower ~ with our Delta's familiar, churned my stomach with past anxiety.
it was different when Badru and I left the country to chase down another fight ring. We knew Evie was safely tucked at home with her father, our mother and our Gamma, all looking out for her as her stomach grew.
just as she kissed Badru, her entire body jolted in surprise and her hand flew to her stomach, a sweet smile curling her flawless mouth.
“000, he kicked again”
Our little pup had been fluttering with activity for the last three months, growing from flutters to full-blown kicks.
Both my brother and I instantly felt around the spot where her palm was pressed, searching out the little thud. She took each of our wrists, guiding us to the right location. Our patience was rewarded with an almighty kick beneath the swell of her bump.
“I think he's excited to party” Badru grinned from ear to ear.
My wolf puffed out his chest with pride, making the same comment he always did. “Still in the womb and already the strongest Alpha.
“He's a natural. When he gets his legs under him, I'll have to teach him how to play soccer. Like da—"
The lead words clamped in my throat, cutting short my sentence and souring every bit of happiness I found in the moment. “Like dad did with us.’
“I know I've been foggy lately, but I think I can remember a couple of things” She gave my hand a light squeeze, not resisting my offer. “Thank you anyway."

In the hallway of our newly-built home, Evie manoeuvred her way around the unopened boxes of the baby crib that had arrived yesterday, tracing her fingertips along the edge of the bulkier one. She and our mother had picked out a beautiful rustic wooden crib that would expand as our pup grew; it had been one of their bonding outings together.
That was gonna be a surprise! I stealthily glared over our mate's head.
“But she doesn't like surprises!
“she hates people jumping out and yelling “surprise’. This would have been a nice one"
“Are you two arguing?" Evie looked between us, her hand naturally drifting under her belly to ease the pressure from the kicks again.
“It's nothing” I moved to open the front door.
“Uh-huh.” She wasn't believing a word of it. “Well, I'm excited to see it built. "ll have to think of some way to reward my guys on my way home."
Our log cabin had been constructed along Reflection Lakes, in the very spot our mate had set her heart on. The partially built decking at the back looked out onto the water, which would be safely fenced off when finished to prevent little feet from wandering into danger when he began walking. updated by FindNovel.net
The door opened just as I was about to grab the handle and Konstantin appeared on the other side, almost taking off my hand.

“We knew it wasn't going to be a walk in the park, Aasim!
“Ive still got time to cancel. I can stay and hold your hands?" Evie traced mine and Badru’s knuckles.
