Absolute Chaos

Chapter 35.

The archway loomed above her, its shadows speaking to her spirit, whispering for her to stay away. Ignoring their darkness, Mieli crept under the arch and flowed into a large square chamber. The mercury faded to liquid amid her irises, pouring a brilliant light from them, illuminating the space before her.

Against the far wall inside the stifling chamber stood a glorious sight. The majestic ‘Ark of Chaos’ rested here, her creators absolute testament in which held all of life’s great secrets was standing right before her.

She could smell Arawn’s depraved essence swarming within the Divine chamber, although she was yet to see him.

An ear shattering roar shook the hard rock walls, the terrifying sound fading to a low laugh, the sick noise forcing her fury to burst through her eardrums and trickle in hot streams down her neck.

Arawn’s huge form stalked out from the shadows, rapidly moving in front of the extraordinary gilded box, embodying it with his evil.

“Is that the best Chaos could do?,...send a mere Angel?.....why would our creator send the likes of a being like you?.” Arawn hissed through gritted teeth.

Mieli could see he still held the half of the Alzphaeta Diamond that he stole from Azure-Alkun in his fist, she could not understand why he had not opened the Ark that held its other unique half and fused them as one.

There was something amiss, she could feel Arawn’s unease, he tried to mask it, hide it deep inside his core, however it had seeped and cracked to the surface, now clearly visible to Mieli.

Mieli used his weakness, taking a cautious step towards Arawn, thrusting her wings high at her sides, her dark long feathers brushing the walls on either side of the room.

“I am NO MERE ANGEL ARAWN!......YOU KNOW WHO I AM.” Mieli was the last of the Death Angels, a pure being of the Dark Divine, one of only very few created and the only one now alive.

“You know exactly why Chaos would send an Angel like me to retrieve such a vile spirit as yours!, you understand my terrible wrath!.”

Spitting her ire at his feet, all the while carefully watching Arawn’s dark eyes, they shifted under the harsh silver light, darting in panic around the small room.

“Give me the Alzphaeta Diamond Arawn....give me the gem or you will feel my insane fury!.”

A dark wave of panic fell over Arawn, he moved closer to the Ark, however he would not touch it. Mieli could now see why Arawn hadn’t already opened the Ark and joined the two halves of the gem.

He could not open the ornate golden box, a curse had been placed upon it, Mieli could feel it coming from the Ark.

The lessor God squeezed the small gem tighter in his hands.

“Leave now you filthy death Angel!...” The light inside the Alzphaeta Diamond pulsed inside Arawn’s huge fist, the chambers floor vibrated beneath them. The small room filled with a burning blue light, so bright, Mieli was momentarily blinded by its sheer brilliance.

Staggering backwards she hit the side of the huge archway and cracked the hard stone with her oversized wings.

The flash of light quickly faded, Arawn had gone, fleeing out through the giant archway, up the narrow shaft and deep into the suffocating tunnels.

The golden Ark stood untouched near the far wall, nonetheless Arawn still held the other half of the gem.

Mieli took one quick last look at the remarkable gilded chest and flew back out into the tunnels after Arawn.
